When I was a kid growing up in Odesa in the 80s, I found it so annoying when instead of cartoons there’d be Ukrainian folk music on television, which was usually on channel 3. My family then moved to the USA and I didn’t think much about it. Ever since 2014, I rediscovered the beauty of Ukrainian music, songs and dancing and now can’t get enough of it. Seeing all these young people proudly singling beautiful carols made me tear up. This was a fantastic video and I wish all Ukrainians and Europeans a very quick and successful перемога! Starting in minute 16, with the Kutia/holy dinner, the background tune is "Deck the Halls". Is that carol popular/known in Ukraine, or is that added for English audiences? It seems (to me) like a very niche western tune but I am always curious to learn more and that detail caught my ear.
