  • Prevent erosion with gutters on our self built shed. We purchased aluminum gutters and walk through the steps of gutter installation and show all the different parts involved to make them functional. Then, we add some from steps to our shed by finding some sedimentary rock in our woods and placing them strategically with the RK24 tractor and backhoe attachment.
    Seen in this video:

I would put leaf guards on the gutters , and I would have connected the downspouts into 1 drain

Greetings from the BIG SKY of Montana. After 20 years, I remain gutterless.

I knew it could be done! I even used the same stuff as you did. Must have come from the same supplier. I remain one who relishes our light rain fall.

Love you guys. You are the most refreshing channel on TH-cam! We live at the start of the Appalachians on the side of Oglethorpe Mountain. We share your love for our mountains.

From watching "Gate City Foundation Drainage", on TH-cam, I would suggest you use a sched 40 PVC pipe. Over time you will find the corrugated pipe will collect dirt and slow down the flow, which in turn will collect more dirt.

Love the fresh veggies out of the garden and rasberry cobbler. Although I prefer the black berries. I see your still finding treasures under the dirt. Great find Megan.

The bush beans were quite tasty. We got green and purple varieties. I had no idea that the purple ones turn green when you steam them. Being that we're friends now, Dean, and exchange comments often, you should know Meg is just Meg. That's her full first name. Funny story... When she was in labor with our first born, the doctor kept calling her Megan when she was pushing. I remember to this day, Meg stopping and correcting her, saying, "My name is not Megan!". So funny!

Yikes! Is Meg in a patch of poison ivy (th-cam.com/video/F5ZgDtUu2NI/w-d-xo.html)?

Those are black raspberry leaves. Similar looking to poison ivy, but their stems are thorned and have a silvery/chalky appearance. Lots of look-alikes out there.

I have a new(last year) metal roof on the cabin and know how very important the pitch of the gutters is! The gulley gushers just spew out of the downpipes. Be sure to seal any seams! Blackcaps are wonderful! So glad you have them growing there! AND...HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

Thank you, Gere! I shot some water with the hose and I think I got that slope perfect and I didn't see any leaks! I was generous with the seam sealant.

Happy Anniversary! Nice coverage of the gutters. I never thought about it till you showed your DIY filter attempt. There is a reason that a pool filter has about 30 screws holding the lid down. That pump has a lot of pressure.

Hi Tim, thank you! The way I understand it, the filter we made can't filter and process the water fast enough without building a significant amount of pressure to push the water through the outlet. The pump will keep pushing more and more water until it explodes. That dinky bucket doesn't have a chance. I do have an old pressure tank that could hold the pressure, but at this point, I just want to filter the pool - plus, that 1HP pump is so oversized, it creates a vortex in the pool. Haha!
