Hi Renoking, would like to watch those renovations under the budget of $50k if possible? $100k and above renovation is too costly.
i think they are overpaying for sure. the design are very basic. you can do alot more with $130k. and $50k, you can DIY alot of things yourself. they overpaid for all the furnitures too. definitely not a good example

Not sure why they are giving excuses like time/quality (almost every other channel can show affordable reno). But in all honestly it's essentially a 28-min ad, so of course they are going to promote the most expensive sponsored items since it's most worth for themselves. Usually I just mute the video and watch, it's more bearable this way.

I think Reno King is being ripped off every episode. Paying $100k+ for renovation like its normal is not okay. You can do alot with $50k-$70k. The renovation is definitely not worth $130k+. R&R is just ripping people off and their design is not anything special even.
Agree. 100k and above reno deserves better designs than these, companies like 19eightythree do 100k worthy reno
They don't need to keep it under budget when it's about product placement and sponsored goods.
i think it has to do with pandemic, every materials has increase in prices
I think the cost of removing the old tiles and fixtures is also quite hefty. Renovating a resale flat is not cheap as compared to BTO.
I dont think its too overly priced for this reno though, gotta note that they have to hack all and redo every parts of the house from ceiling works, all tile flooring and the walls are mainly feature wall or carpentry works. Even if they decided to go everything "China" with a contractor, it would probably still cost $100k ngl. I'd rather pay $130k to stay in a home i know i can be comfortable in for many years to come, than getting a new bare 3 room flat.
This 4-room HDB resale has a common floor plan among some of the existing HDB and this is pretty well done!

With such budget, is expected that the house is nicely renovated. I will be very impressed if the house is well renovated with a smaller budget.

What would be great also is if you could do a value comparison, the home value before a renovation, vs value afterwards. I think many need educating on that spending xx amount could increase value by much more. Great series.

I am a supporter of Reno King, but if the updates on instagram of the reno of zijie and Joanna's place is anything to go by, I wouldn't go with these IDs. They basically took 7 to 8 months to renovate a 2 room flat (zijie) or in this case 4 room flat (joanna). Quite jialat.
