Single barrels can fluctuate so much. I prefer small batch, usually. But when you get a barrel pick that's an all-star, it's worth paying extra. Since I'm not getting an EHT pick, I'll take the SmB every time
I've had this as a pour at a local bar alongside the SmB. Not too bad. They're good. Would I buy at retail? Absolutely. Otherwise I'm left to getting a pour of the Single Barrel for about $16. It isn't good enough to pay secondary market for though. If I'm paying $150+, I'm going for Calumet 16. So far I have not spent over $100 for anything.
I have the TALL bottle of this I bought 6 years ago. Think it was about $70 then. Good, but I’m not paying >$180 for it. Think I’d rather have Blanton’s if I could find it now
Buffalo Trace makes great juice, no doubt, but the current scarcity is just RIDICULOUS. You can barely even find Weller Green Label around here in KS, let alone any Weller Antique, E.H. Taylor, Blanton's, etc.

On the bright side, with everybody hunting down the same "unicorns," there's a boat load of great value whiskies that are just sitting on shelves waiting for people to branch out. Maybe the hunt will die down as people learn what else is out there?
I bought my first bottle of EHT SB for 59.99. I pay $79.99 these days. Anyone charging more than that is not a shop that deserves customers or my attention. Retailers and distributors charging way more than SRP and pressuring customers to buy extra bottles, inventory don’t deserve their liquor license.
Buy a J J Bowman all the time. Look at all the people here who say the Small Batch is better than Single Barrel. That definitely says you have a problem with a single barrel program.
Hell, I would be happy if Eagle Rare would stay on the shelf for more than 10 minutes around here!

A lot of people said small batch is better/more consistent. So you might not be missing out on much :)

$180? No. But $80 absolutely a nice sipping bourbon that is no frills but enjoyable & nicely oaky with some nice cherry/ dark grape.

I am not an expert, but I did not like this Bourbon. It is a total hype! There are many Awesome Single Malts even at retail price of this EHT.
