I finished this book last night, what an amazing novel, so, so beautifully crafted - I can't believe this hasn't made the short list! I haven't read Restless Dolly Maunder, but I can't believe it's anywhere near as good as this.
I bought a copy of this after seeing your review - I really wanted something to grip me so I wouldn't put it down. Happy to say, this short novel did the trick and I was really gripped by the wonderful writing and rather sad, but human exploration of ordinary lives framed by the sensational tabloid investigation. Thanks for your recommendation.
I’m so glad you also found it effective and absorbing as well. Thanks! ☺️
This is one of my favorites on the longlist so far. I started Nightbloom last night and really enjoying it so far.
So glad you loved it! It’s one of my favorites from the long-list. Her writing is focused and clear-sighted while also imbued with great sensitivity and humanity. Not at all heavy-handed and seemingly not a word out of place. Wonderful writer! Developing quite a fondness for Contemporary Irish novelists. ❤
Ah, I put this on my TBR after hearing Sarah at Hardcover Hearts talk about it a few months ago, so I'm excited to hear another wonderful endorsement from a trusted source!
I'm reading it at the moment, loving it. I'm not good at staying up long reading, but I find it so so good! Will go back to your video once I've read it tho! So happy that you confirm my initial feelings about it
This is one of my top three from the twelve I've read so far from the longlist (the other two being Soldier Sailor and Enter Ghost). Humans are complicated and Nolan captures this beautifully.
I am about to head to the airport for a long flight (Seattle to London) and guess what book I’m bringing? I just started it last night. So glad I caught your video before I left. I’ll be with 4 friends in Bath for the Persephone Book Festival too. If I see you on the streets or in the book shops, I will give a shout (kindly, of course 😊).
What a superb read. So human and so beautifully written
Thank you, Eric! I'm glad to see I was not the only crazy reader that spent the night reading 'till the very last word, as well as suffering through it😢🥴🤩 Definitely recommended!!! 🤗🍀📚☀️
Haha, glad you were also gripped!
I loved this book. Such a good portrayal of humans.Thank you for sharing.😃😃
Read this last year and excited more are discovering Megan’s genius.
You convinced me, l wasn't sure but now I'm keen to read it! Thanks Eric ❤
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
Beautifully written novel. Everyone struggling with their own inadequacy. Megan Nolan is only beginning 💛
Yes!
This was definitely one of the strongest books on the longlist for me. Read it in one sitting.
Sold!! Thank you Eric 🩷😊
I think you'll really enjoy it, Selina! 😊
I have not gotten to this one yet but am planning on reading it next month for sure!
Just arrived in my mailbox. Can't wait to get started.
Perfect timing! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Hi Eric a great book. I think it is between Nightbloom and Soldier Sailor at the momentx
Read it and found it absolutely enthralling. Tied for my favourite women’s prize long list (that I’ve read so far) with And Then She Fell.
Oh interesting!
I have to check it out. Your review is very inspiring 😊
Hope you enjoy it!
Saw it on the list but really on my radar until now
Yes! I felt the same. It just so good.
👍
I also stayed up way too late reading this one. A solid 5 star!
Will definitely be picking this up. Thank you! Have you also read her book “Acts of Desperation”?
Hope you enjoy it! And, no, I mention towards the end of this video I've had it on my shelf for ages but not got to it yet.
Oops! Sorry I missed that.
@@joniheisenberg No worries!
Let me just move this one to the top of my TBR.... 😂
👍
You're on fire!
I thought this was a good portrayal of how ruthless the press is.
Oh dear, I did not enjoy this one. Normally I agree with your views.😅
Awe, that’s a shame but I’m glad when readers have different takes and opinions about books because that’s part of the pleasure of reading and discussing books on here.
