  • So my Ram 2500 V10 has been overheating & leaking a lot of coolant lately, which is not cheap. Thermostat did not seem to be opening, so I figured that was the main culprit. Did it fix the leak? Let's find out.
Here's how to change a thermostat on the Dodge v10

1.The lower ring seal was missing and you didn't install a new one.
    2. The thermostat rubber seal is meant to install on the metal flange. It has a C-channel on the inside.
    3. The proper coolant is HOAT type not green.
    4. V10 magnum is in fact a small block.
I'd recommend redoing it before it fails. Your lucky that the bolts didn't snap. I did mine last month and three snapped off turning into a two day repair.

As much leaves and debris you had. You better pull heater fan and clean box. Leaves and crap gets in there

I've had 2 v10 since 2001. Will always lose coolant. Drill a small hole in cap on reservoir. This slows down the loss of coolant

No sir, I wish things were simpler. At least we don't own a new truck, I've got a 2015 Silverado, huge nightmare to work on. My 2015 is sitting and I've reseracted my V10 ram
