  • India's Reserve Bank Says Over 40 million Jobs Created Last Year | Vantage with Palki Sharma
The Reserve Bank of India said today that over 40 million jobs were created in the country in the last financial year. This is the highest increase since the early 1980s. Further, the job growth in India has jumped by close to 6%. The RBI's report comes days after an assessment from CITIBANK said that India will struggle to create enough employment opportunities - even with a 7% growth rate. New Delhi has questioned these claims. The Ministry of Labour and Employment cautioned "against the selective use of private data sources that can lead to misleading conclusions about India’s employment scenario". Palki Sharma tells you more.

Good. They are doing some job instead of sitting idly on their asses. They deserve praise. In a few years, you'll see pakoda center chains. People like you will stand in queue to gain employment in those chains and complain about the rich businessman who had once started his first pakoda centre.

Statistics is processing of data such that you see what wanted to see. It may and mostly, is not reflection of the reality.
The truth is Indian job market is miserable, if right person is not given the right job , it's also an unemployment.
At present Unemployment is at highest, The Indian rulers are forgetting the point that the we are missing the bus of development because most of the work aged people are unemployed. This will create a big problem when these demography set becomes old aged. They will not have family to fall back nor any financial reserve to support them. It will be a big burden for future workmen to support them through government.

When an Indian talks, it is best to take their words with a pinch of salt. For example,
    1) Modi claimed in late 2019 that India is open defecation free and what happened? A recent joint monitoring programme (JMP) on water, sanitation and hygiene by the World Health Organization and UNICEF released July 1, 2021 stated that at least 15 per cent of the total population in India defecates in the open.
    2) "Know your meme: India superpower by 2020". They claimed in year 1998 that they will be superpower by 2020 or earlier? What happened today? GDP per capita not even 3k? Is that a definition of a superpower?
    3) India claimed to have landed on the "South Pole" of the Moon. What happened? Two out of the best 3 space agencies of the World (Russia/USA/China) said India did not land on Moon's South Pole.
3A) NASA specifically said "The Chandrayaan-3 landing site is located about 600 kilometers from the Moon’s South Pole.". This is just another diplomatic way of saying India did not land on Moon's South Pole. If India had landed on on Moon's South Pole, NASA would have simply said that "The Chandrayaan-3 landing site is located at the Moon’s South Pole" instead of "The Chandrayaan-3 landing site is located about 600 KILOMETERS FROM the Moon’s South Pole.
3B) Dr Ouyang Ziyuan, lauded as the father of China’s lunar exploration programme, told the Chinese-language Science Times newspaper that the Chandrayaan-3 landing site, at 69 degrees south latitude, was nowhere close to the pole, defined as between 88.5 and 90 degrees.
    4) Indians claimed that Modi is the "most popular Prime Minister/leader of the entire world" ages ago before the most recent election of 2024 took place. What happened? He barely won. Under India’s electoral system, the party or alliance that wins more than 272 seats in the 543-member parliament can form a government. Opposition parties including the Indian National Congress won 235 seats. Modi merely won 238 seats. (ASTHA RAJVANSHI TIME). If you are the "most popular Prime Minister/leader of the entire world", you should be having a landslide victory in your country's election?
    5) India claimed in year 2010 that they will send Astronaunts into space by year 2015 - 2016? What happened 14 years later after the comment was made? Not even one single Indian Astronaunt was sent into space. "The Indian Space Research Organization is planning to send astronauts to space before the year 2015-16, deputy project director of ISRO's Chandrayaan Mission Jaswinder Singh Khoral said in Chandigarh on Thursday. (Times of India)." This is the statement made by India in year 2010.
    6) Indians said that they are the "Global leader of technology" but what technology are they leading and where are their sources and tangible products to back up what they have claimed? Nothing?
    7) Indians like to talk extremely big about their Indian CEOs but what is their Indian CEOs on the Global Stage? In the ranking list of "Fortune 500 companies" or "Forbes Global 2000 companies", representing the World's richest/biggest companies, where does India stands? India has merely 55 companies in Forbes Global 2000 companies" and all are not even top 10, not even top 20, not even top 30, not even top 40 but only ranked top 45 (Reliance Industries)? Meanwhile, another similar country in terms of population, China, has 3 of their companies in the top 10 ranking of "Forbes Global 2000 companies" and has 346 companies instead of only 55 companies in that same ranking list? What about India's ranking in "Fortune 500 companies"? India has not even 10 companies in that list and China has 143 companies out of the list of 500 (hence is is called Fortune 500).
    8) Indians say that there are no caste system in India? But what are "caste related violence" and why is it still happening? What are the Musahar people and what are their dietary? Has democracy ever had a caste system? No, but only India's version of democracy.
    9) India claimed to be the "Voice/Leader" of the Global South Countries but has every country of the "Global South Countries" ever elected a "Voice or Leader" for them? No. If India is the "Voice/Leader" of the Global South Countries, why is it that Maldives, a member country of the Global South Country, wanted "India out"?
    10) Indian claimed to be the "World's Fastest Growing Economy" but
Year 1962 India's GDP = 42.16 billion (almost similar GDP to China)
Year 1962 China's GDP = 47.21 billion (almost similar GDP to India)
    Year 2022 |ndia's GDP = 3.42 trillion
    Year 2022 China's GDP = 17.96 trillion
China's economy is 5 times plus of |ndia.
    Source: World Bank
India is "World's Fastest Growing Economy"?
These are merely 10 examples and in fact there are many more.

Citi bank has nothing to do with Indian jobs. If at all if they are worried let them invest and help create jobs rather than giving advice.
Basically most Indians are not interested in working under someone else unless they are desperate.
Agriculture gives them flexibility, independence and reasonable income to get on. Villages and villagers are mostly self sufficient though they may not have facilities as per western standards. They lead a mostly sustainable life style and are happy with it. many don't want to leave their villages .
India is totally different and I don't think it is going to change in near future.

ak1960: I liked that "Basically most Indians are not interested in working under someone else unless they are desperate" - agree.
It means only desperate people work. Spread for what?
Desperate to feed themselves/ family & have roof on head!!
But the job creation is just a myth.
Invest some money in a business and that creates job that is not very true.
Business cannot be run without competitiveness to stay afloat in the market.
So the competitiveness comes from extensive experience, money/ additional investment and skills. When competition is at the peak, we call survival of the fittest. One needs to be a capitalist to start business.
That is true, people in villages are happy in their old life style.

*There are multiple angles to this story. It's not as simple as it may seem. Do read along -*
    - If citizens from countries like the US are concerned when unemployment rate is around 5%, what should be our sentiment when ours is close to 10%
    - Adding to that, we have to factor that 5% of the US population will always be significantly less than 5% of of the Indian population.
    - On the flip side, the employability of the average Indian citizen, irrespective of their qualifications, is a significant factor that we need to consider.
    - Because while unemployment is real, but so is unemployability. Again, this is not applicable to the entire population, but we do have to agree on the fact that because the average intellect over here is on the lesser side, this factor contributed to why we are still lagging behind the likes of China, Japan, etc.
    - Smart work vs. Hard work. They aren't the same. What about the per capita data points on efficiency, churn, comprehension, IQ and EQ, and other applicable KPIs?
Overall, it's not just about increasing the quantity and quality of job posts, but also about improving the quality and quantity of us, the people, who aspire to work in our relevant fields.
P.S.: no hate or bias against any demography, just my honest take on the matter. Thanks, hope this was helpful!

Palki before 2024 election - All good with India. No questions on current government
Palki after 2024 election - We have a few questions on the current government
Good evolution though. Keep asking such questions!

India has jobs .. people are unskilled.
    They just have degrees .
    The reports are right ..
    RBI is correct ..
But common people they will always cry .. not on real issues but on common blame game .
    Wake up and Work
You will have a job ..
Whiling away time in uselessness and buying up certificates will never get you a job .
I am myself a Recruitment Consultant.

Reduce the taxes, get rid on regulations and limit government oversight to the bare minimum.

Agriculture sector employs 45% of workforce. They generate 20% towards GDP. If every thing is GDP. Does it consider what's the cost of living in that sector. Does it consider how much contribution they make to keep the air and water clean while generating revenue. Does it hight how a farmer works hard to provide cheap food. Does it consider why 10% increase in onion price makes it to national debate while cost of medicine, school, transport is constantly raising with no consideration towards farmer. Does it consider why subsidies are offered for fertilisers while the alteriar motive is to keep the produce cost low. Our food quality is detoriating primarily because we so called educated people have made sure that the farmer stay's poor at the end of the day and mess up every possible life around us. Time to relook at this GDP and take action what makes sense to every one. We don't want to be another America or Europe which is falling apart along with Dollar's collapse. Its time to stop aping the West.

Ah yes, the amazing job market in India. Where we have 0 work life balance and no rules or regulations. How fun it is to work 14 hours a day, and then spend more hours commuting because the govt mandated return to office as well. Don't forget the amazing office politics and competitive environment just to put food on the table.
Last but not the least, the mind blowing opportunity to have lesser perks and be treated like a 2nd class citizen, receiving a fraction of the salary our counterparts abroad get!
Is it any mystery that a large majority of people want to go abroad, where their talents are appreciated? These people can keep their 40 million jobs, we don't want it 😂

It is difficult to put a figure on employment because there are various kinds of employment - The survey may miss out on one set of people leaving jobs and another set joining new jobs elsewhere - Startups might have provided many jobs - Unemployment is a convenient tool for opposition - BJP repeatedly commits the mistake of putting a number to their schemes - Instead of merely saying "effort will be taken to create more job opportunities" they say they would create this many crores of jobs in this many years giving a handle to opp parties to use it against them -

Government's job is to provide decent education and NOT to provide jobs. If the economy is growing (which is indeed the case) means industry is growing WITHOUT you, the unemployed.
If I own an automated Pizza and Ramen business with machines, I will grow with growing economy without hiring anyone. That is how "free market" capitalism works. As long as I am regularly paying fair taxes, I am NOT obligated to distribute my wealth to population.
