Made all four of these pouches. They came out pretty good. Learned a lot along the way. Getting the flying geese blocks even is the hardest. I would recommend finger pressing even the accent triangle blocks. It helps with placement. When adding the side panels to the flying geese I turned under 1/4 inch on long side of panels and edged stitched it to the flying geese’s blocks on the last pouch I made. Easier to make sure points look better. Make binding and zipper extra long, easier to work with and avoid mishaps with zipper pulls falling off. I used stick fabric glue, less messy than liquid. Overall, they came out nice. Minkikim always challenges me.

Anybody making this? I love everything about this project but having trouble finding the sweet spot for the accent triangles on the flying geese. The center panel keeps drifting to the right. And I have never used my seam ripper more. But I’m determined! ❤️

practice on scraps until you gain confidence, then try a bigger size first because smaller is often fiddly to get started on

this would make a great cross body bag in any of those 3 sizes. I like the depth and bottom width. Very practical as a purse or bag. Just add a few pockets and adjustable strap. Awesome versible pattern.

Hello! I just purchased this pattern and am eager to try it out. I am new to sewing and was wondering if there are specific fabrics you’d recommend to use? And are there other stabilizers you’d recommend in case I can’t find the one you listed? Thank you for your time.
You can use any fabric available. I would search quilting cotton prints.
You can use Pellon Flex Foam or Bosal In R Form

I made this large pouch yesterday. It came out nice. Your video really helped along with paper pattern. Did not like the gluing of binding, messy. The flying geese was easier to do than I expected. You make everything look easy. Enjoy your videos.

Perfect work. Like to watch you sew. At first I thouhgt you were using the "paper" technique (which I personally don't prefer). I have a long sewing experience but never tried patchwork. Oh my God, that zipper binding is very challenging !! I sew for several years but never encounter such difficulty ! that's tough but the result (with patience) is absolutly wonderful ! I recommend this pattern to anyone who wants to try out new techniques, we absolutly learn something !! Too bad, there is no instructions for binding cut

So pretty. Now the little scraps that you cut off do you ever reuse them or just throw away. Sometimes depending on the size of the padded scraps I will look at them to use for something else. Like I made some big quilted bags and the corners that were cut out I could see making a little zippered pouch or coffee cup coasters. Many times I keep even the smallest of scraps to use as stuffing to make other projects and it helps to cut down in buying stuffing.

It depends on the print. If it’s what I like, I keep any small pieces. If it’s not, I only keep the big pieces for the ling. 😊
