Wow what a list, awesome 🙏! What would you say is the top 3 highest power? Trying to make a budget deck for local tournament. Probably lots of voltron and interaction decks.
I don’t normally comment, but Tomer deserves all the props for this video, and for just being an amazing deck builder in general. I purchased the Ob-Nixilis deck when Tomer did the original Short. I liked it so much that I followed his $100 upgrade guide and then even added a couple of premium upgrades. Definitely happy with my experience and I can 100% recommend this as a way to cheaply try out decks.
Tomer I love you, and this is now my EDH bible. I've sent it to all my friends so that we can play some budget pods and see how these beauties fare against one another. Thank you ❤
Tomer does yeoman's work for the format and the community. This is excellent. I have a budget Light-Paws deck and I built it, honestly, because I wanted to see if it would still be good without all the money cards. Turns out it is.
It is 100% an art making budget decks that are as compelling and competitive as these. I really appreciate all the time and effort that was put in to designing these and making the video. it has been super helpful. I love playing budget as much as possible. Purely to save money and get people scratching their heads w a bunch of "jank" at 100% synergy. Thank you Tomer on behalf of the budget peeps worldwide!
I have a feeling that anytime someone on reddit asks about good budget ideas, this is going to be the first thing people link to for the next few years, at least. What a great tool for budget brewing!
Might be weird, but shout out to the title card - considering how samey a lot of them can look, this one popped out at me in my feed. Simple but sweet.
This video was a ton of fun to watch and listen too. Looks like a TON of work so I appreciate you putting this together. A group of friends of mine are doing $50 builds and there's so many fun off meta ideas here.
Tomer, this video is AWESOME! Going to recommend this video and article to all new players and my friends when they get an itch to try something new. As always, thanks for what you do for the commander community
I really appreciate this. I needed some lower powered decks to match power levels, but I just dont have the time (or frankly interest) to brew budget decks. Your decks have been a huge help.
I barely have time playing All the decks i own and now this :) much appreciated especially since a lot of them are very unique and not just generic decks.
I would love to see some data on all 50 deck lists combined. Which cards were most commonly included, what cards were worthy of spending more on, how do the rules for lands, ramp, card draw etc apply when the budget is $50?
The amount of time that should have to be taken to create this video and article....WOW! Thank you for the effort Tommer, I'm looking forward to try several of these decks
Tomer you're the reason I got into Commander and love the format! This video freaking rocks. I'm definitely going to play the Narset deck. Thanks for the video and all the work put into it! Love your builds and quality work.
Tomer is a mad man for doing this much work and the whole community thanks him for it Edit I would love to see 50 dollar versions of cedh decks like winota
I've seen _$20_ Winota lists - most of the cost is in the fast mana, dual lands, and stax pieces, so if you cut the stax elements in favor of just pure aggro and accept an entirely basic landbase, you can have a really cheap deck that still kills on turn 5-6.
Vadrik was a deck I made one evening when I forgot to bring my decks but had a few of my binders at my buddies house and surprisingly won against them. Definitely upgraded since then and is now a staple deck I play
The ability only adds a counter if it has less than 4, but it will tutor each time it does combat damage as long as it has exactly 4 +1/+1 counters (or 3, adding the fourth with its own ability).
@@davidsterner5453 Nope. From Gatherer: If Ayara's Oathsworn has four or more +1/+1 counters on it as it deals combat damage to a player, its ability won't trigger at all. None of its effects will happen. You won't put a +1/+1 counter on Ayara's Oathsworn and you won't search for a card.
Fantastic video. I just started playing MTG and have not chosen a comander yet, but this help a lot with knowing play style and cheap. May i suggest a follow-up video with upgrades or substitutions to upgrade the deck one likes.
Thanks for the great work! These decks are sweet. Honestly the two big surprises for me were Feather and Talrand not being there, as they've always been the premier budget decks in my mind.
Both are great yeah, I've done both before (Talrand was one of my very first a decade ago!). For this I just updated my most recent brews plus a few new ones.
For a goad deck, I really like Baeloth Barrityl, Entertainer partnered with Raised by Giants. Just permanently goad anything with less than 10 power (and you can voltron it up for even higher, as well as that being your own wincon)
Awesome project, Tomer. :) Very cool. It must have been fun to make, but the whole time I was thinking "man, this must've taken FOREVER", but you can't take TOO long, cuz prices change! Haha. Anyway, very cool, Thanks!
I built a variation on the General Ferrous Rockiric deck. Man is it a ton of fun. It's amazing how much value you can generate. A surprise heavy lifter is Éomer, King of Rohan. By coincidence, most of the best Boros creatures just happen to be humans.
Pure class, thank you for this. I have used two decks myself and recommended other for my friends; they are a blast to play even convincing some of the spikier players to enjoy the format in another way. Is there a Decklist for your boyfriend's Eligeth deck?
Just bought the singles to build this Omnath deck, and decided to get Azusa and Locus of Roil as well for upgrades. Looking forward to see how it stacks up against a precon.
To those looking at Edric, might I suggest Hypnotic Siren. 1/1 flier for 1, fits into the plan,. but it's been clutch late game. And 25 cents! Man, what an undertaking. I'm gonna try a couple of these.
Just wanted to say thank you for this video and the article. I've been very disheartened with the current state of Yugioh and being able to find comprehensive lists for cheap has really got me wanting to give Commander a go. Just bought the Baba Lysaga deck for myself today!
It depends what you want to focus on. If you want to go all-in on Firkraag then invest in more cheap protection spells and clones like Spark Double and Sakashimas. If you want to focus on Dragons then grab the Ancient Dragons, useful Sarkhans etc.
Nice video Tomer!!! It must have taken a lot of work!! Quick question for the Braids deck what would your first take outs be if you are trying to upgrade it.
Back when I had my Edric, Spy Master of Trest (a few years ago) I built it to be an elf ball deck and man oh man. That deck, slapped with value while also being super political at the table.
Tomer seems like he's been busy! I love how Equinox feels like a fixed Pyramids. I think Ob Nixilis has a lower ceiling than Niv Mizzet, but Ob has a much higher floor I'd argue, more cards are good with Ob I think. I very badly want to just bite the bullet and build Sauron, the Dark Lord as Army Voltron, and just throw in all the support I can. I do have a $50 deck still, and I am trying to keep it there. It's the kind of deck where you don't have consistency because it's too easy to draw the wrong half of the deck, but it's also incredible when it goes off.
Glad you like it! Yuriko at $100 is way stronger than the $50 one, the major difference is consistency: at $100 you can fit in better mana-fixing lands and most importantly topdeck manipulation to make sure each trigger is lethal. It also doesn't help that a lot of the cards I used to love in my original budget build like Snuff Out was $2 just two years back and is now $11!
Acererak is a good upgrade for the wilhelt deck. Combos with rooftop storm to drain infinitely. Maskwood Nexus would also be very good for Yuriko, although there are already a lot of good ninjas to run
Saw the list for Torens and built a slightly upgraded version of it but it’s definitely my job of deck! Very much an Aggro player so I’m looking at Rockrik next I think…
Love this type of content! Building a budget deck is a lot more fun (brain exercise) than mindlessly throwing together a $2000 deck. I'm currently in the process of trying to build a budget deck for each 2-color combination for MTGO where each deck must be under 3 tickets total cost. Just a note, in your article, the "Tovolar Werewolves" list is posted twice, the second being replacing the "Torens Go Wide Humans" list.
Fixed thanks!
Read that as Torens Go Wild, which um, yeah.

This makes me feel inspired to build up a similar list. I thoroughly enjoy budget lists because the restriction of price forces creativity.
This is just on time! Brewing my first ever commander deck right now and realising that some of the decklist is 50 dollars for a single card. :x
What a video ! Tomer is the hero we don't deserve 😲
Thank you for all the work you put into this ❤ got an awesome gift for my partner.
The Dralnu build idea is amazing!
Thanks for the inspiration!

Amazing video! I'm going to try out a handful for myself and share this with some friends that are getting into budget commander!
The light-paws and Ob-Nix decks played really well! I won two games back to back!

Nice video Tomer!!! It must have taken a lot of work!! Quick question for the Braids deck what would your first take outs be if you are trying to upgrade it.
A general rule is upgrade cards with the same "role" so if you add a removal take out a removal, add a land take out a land.
Will this video finally break my decision paralysis for deckbuilding? Maybe! Thanks regardless, this is all super helpful
Back when I had my Edric, Spy Master of Trest (a few years ago) I built it to be an elf ball deck and man oh man. That deck, slapped with value while also being super political at the table.
Tomer got so exited about Myra deck that his face melts off @ 57:11 O_O
Tomer seems like he's been busy!

Can't wait to build some of these decks
To make you feel great i am trying 41/50 decks online before getting them irl
I'm almost finished building your galadriel deck. just in time to start building one of these bad boys after.
Love this type of content! Building a budget deck is a lot more fun (brain exercise) than mindlessly throwing together a $2000 deck. I'm currently in the process of trying to build a budget deck for each 2-color combination for MTGO where each deck must be under 3 tickets total cost.
