Seriously one of the most picturesque treks we have done! If you don't want to risk not getting tickets, we recommend booking in advance on the official site: www.caminitodelrey.info/en/
Built … you are at a reservoir of the Guadalhorce river. It’s a natural gorge and given the water drop, it was a hydroelectric plant built by the workers. The path was built for the construction workers. The plant opened and King Alfonso (xi xii? Easily checked) walked the path to see the works and path. In his honor, named Caminito del Rey. (Alfonso vii was a medieval king). The pathway wasn’t maintained and was one of the most dangerous walks for hikers… people died. Around 2008 or so I think the provincial administration recut and redeveloped the walk. Much safer. And it’s become a little industry, easily accessed by bus from Malaga. I think there used to be even a public bus plus many companies seem to offer paid guided excursions.
Great content guys. Great quality. Amazing views. ❤❤

Such a stunning walk and we’re very glad they re-built a safer path for tourist and hikers!
