John Ratzenberger who voices Mack in Cars and the Piggy Bank in Toy Story is the only actor who voices a character in every Pixar film. He was known for playing Cliff on Cheers before Pixar. The fact that he’s in literally all Pixar films leads me to believe that he must be a very likable guy in real life to be the only person to have that honor.
He has been every Pixar films, except films from onwards from Soul. He was lucky mascot for Pixar sort of. Bit like Alan Tudyk for Disney animation films.
My son, he’s almost 13 now, watched this movie everyday, multiple times a day, from the age of 1 until he was 4 or 5. He wore through the original dvd and I went out and bought a new one. I’d buy the die-cast “Cars” cars for him whenever I saw them at the stores. He recently began collecting them again. This movie holds a special place in my heart ❤.
"Forty years ago, that interstate down there didn't exist." "Really?" "Yeah. Back then, cars came across the country a whole different way." "How do you mean?" "Well, the road didn't cut through the land like that interstate. It moved with the land, it rose, it fell, it curved. Cars didn't drive on it to make great time. They drove on it to have a great time." Fun Fact: Larry the Cable Guy's first animated flim. Visual Confirmation Fact: Every third blink of the stoplight in Radiator Springs really is slower by half a second, confirming Fillmore's (George Carlin) observation. Final Bow Fact: This was Paul Newman's last American feature film before his death of lung cancer in 2008. It turned out to be the highest-grossing movie of his career. George Carlin died of heart failure three months earlier. This was the highest-grossing film of his career as well. Music Enthusiast Fact: The production wanted to use a little-known version of the song (Get Your Kicks On) Route 66 (1961) by Chuck Berry, which had appeared on the B-side of one of his singles. They approached Berry's record company, who didn't know anything about such a version. After they trawled through their record vaults, they realized that Pixar was right. Location Location Fact: The fictional town of Radiator Springs was inspired by several real-life locations along historic Route 66. In 2001, a creative team from Pixar, including John Lasseter and Joe Ranft, toured parts of Route 66 in Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. Their guide along the way was author and Route 66 historian Michael Wallis. Wallis provided the voice of the Sheriff in the film.
I’m from a little town in Alabama called Bridgeport, right on the Alabama and Tennessee state line, cross the river and go up the mtn and your in Georgia, so basically on 3 state lines lol, anywho, our little town and the surrounding towns was booming little towns, Bridgeport was literally supposed to be the “New York” of the south, but things happened, one of those things being Highway 72, it took all of the business out of town, the highway bypassed everything.. now, all these years later, Bridgeport still ain’t shit.
The Tennessee river ran through town as well, so there was ALOT of big plants and mills built along the river, to use barges for transportation, the train depot is 8 tracks wide, if you knew the size if Bridgeport, that would tell you how booming it used to be, rich people, like Kilpatrick moved into town and built it up, there’s a road in his memory in Bridgeport, called Kilpatrick row, it’s a row of mansions from 1800s, there’s a whole video on TH-cam about it, I can’t remember the name of it, if I find it I’ll link it in here, just interesting little video, so many towns went through this, sadly
Here’s a railcam I didn’t know Bridgeport had, nice! Same thing happened to my hometown. It was a thriving farming community when I was growing up. Lots of small businesses owned by the residents including a pharmacy with a soda fountain & 4 little grocery stores. Everything you needed within the town limits. Then Walmart opened stores in two nearby towns & within 10 years my little hometown was on life support. No groceries or pharmacy or family owned stores. I hate Walmart with a passion. I’ll do without before I go to Walmart.
I have, with zero exaggeration, watched this movie over 4,000 times. Ever since I was a youngling, this film has always had a special place in my heart as my first favorite. Sure there are better movies, but no other movie has had such a tremendous impact on my life as Cars (2006). Because of it, countersteering techniques were ingrained in my mind at a young age, thus saving my life on multiple occasions, I can quote this movie verbatim. This is a great movie
When I watched Cars (as a kid) I wanted to be a JDM because of the ones sending the truck to sleep looking really cool to me at the time. I mean I always self insert anyway. But yeah. If I'm in the cars universe I want to look like a 97 mitsubishi lancer.

This movie came out when I was in college. I went and saw it one night by myself and I bawled. I grew up in a town very much like Radiator Springs. It wasn’t on Route 66, but it was a town that had a busy highway going through it until the freeway was built. Main Street had all these old buildings that used to be busy shops and diners that were abandoned by the time I was born. Now, it’s just a town full of suburban homes for people who commute to work in the big city. Some grocery stores and such exist, but never to the degree that it had when my dad was a little boy. But that scene showing the freeway coming in and everyone forgetting the town - it hit hard. I love this movie with all my heart. The sequels are… well, I pretend Cars 2 doesn’t exist. Cars 3 was okay, but it didn’t have quite the same love and care as the first one.
My favorite line has to be between Lightning & his sponsors about his headlights being just stickers..."Race cars don't need headlights because racetracks are always lit. - Oh yeah! So's my brother and he still needs headlights!"
I love this movie so much. That song when they are talking about the old Radiator Springs really gets my eyes watering. Such a great reaction, love J keeping it real.

Route 66 is a road- an interstate. It became super popular and had a bunch of like Travelodges and such with hotel/restaurant/local attractions along the route just like "our town" song. I'm surprised you didn't hear of it, it runs from Chicago to Santa Monica. Other interstates/highways were built and used more often but Route 66 is still there and there are lots of things to do along it- but the bigger hotels and such didn't make it, or they got swallowed as the town grew.

Newer Disney has been controversial in some circles online. You must understand that making tons of money doesn't make something good quality on its own, just as quality material doesn't always make tons of money. Quality is more complex than that. There's a split opinion between mass appeal and hardcore fans that react harshly towards media they don't like.
