the built in tracking is really not great. but yes this technique will work with it.

I don’t understand why you flipped the first clip 180? Can you tell me why? Would the effect not have worked the same if you didn’t flip?

Yes you have to flip it or it won’t work. The upside down tracking will counter act the motion of the up side up clip.
