    It only does full dmg to 1st target. It loses duration time when jumping to another monster. So last infected monster will get less dmg than, the attacked one. Example. Let it last 4 sec. So when it will jump to another monster at 3 sec, it will only last 1 sec on them.

    I think if you sacrifice ravens, you can actually almost be a full summoner druid while still running rabies. Using plague, you could just cast rabies, then use fury (one point) to quickly tap the monsters to proc lower resist. Lower resist also helps your spirit wolves a lot. If you also run the act 3 fire enchant merc, this gives you poison, physical, cold and fire damage.

    I'm trying to figure out a rabies build.
    Why on EARTH would they make it take LONGER for the poison damage to tick the more points you have in the skill?
    At level 30, for example, rabies poison damage is stretched out over a whopping 12.4 seconds.
    What were they thinking?

    Poison damage is super complicated already to begin with. Even with sunder charms I still can't recommend going full rabies but it works wonders in normal and nightmare and out of all the poison builds out there rabies is kinda the cheapest.

    So I've read some guides on poison dmg - resist dmg reductions take place when the poison is applied to a target. So it's no use to infect and apply lowres. Same works for pnova

      "While infected, infection is spread from the host by invisible piercing missiles, which always hit and cannot be blocked: one missile is fired in a random direction horizontally every 4 frames (0.16 second), infecting every target (which may include the host) with which it collides before expiring. Poison rate and infection are applied for remaining length. Infection will expire simultaneously on all targets whose infection was spread from the same bite."
      "-% EPR can result in variable poison length to different targets, even those whose infection was spread from the same bite, since poison rate can be applied multiple times with diminishing length each time."
      Skill level is set upon biting. Any poison attack damage added by items or Venom is treated as a separate and thus competing source. If poison attack damage has a higher rate, it will be applied for its length; if this expires before the infection, Rabies poison rate and remaining length may be applied by missile afterwards. [2]
      +% Poison Skill Damage is applied upon biting and upon firing of missiles spreading infection, while -% Enemy Poison Resistance is applied whenever a new source of poison is applied to a target. Consequently, damage can be maximised by attacking at the highest skill level possible, then switching weapons or other equipment to apply more +% PSD and -% EPR. [3]"
      Basically Optimal Rabies Application is one of the Jankiest things I have ever seen.
      It involves Having a weapon set for the highest Skill Level of Rabies possible. Using items like Plague bearer for +5 rabies.
      Then swapping to a set of gear specifically for Negative res after application, since skill level is set on application, but -EPR is reapplied when the missiles reinfect the targets.
      The off weapon set for -EPR is usually Deaths Web and a Four facet shield 🛡️

      @GGMentor makes sense. -%eps will be skipped for the first couple infecteds (you need time to register the bite and switch), but will be accounted for the remaining preys.

    So i remember trying this build years ago, i ran a grief, to help with poison res monsters (guess thats not as needed with sunders) but would grief be a nice choice also?

    It interfere, look that the creeper dont attack mobs that have been poisoned with rabies

    How does rabies damage interact wth poison creeper damage? Ive always suspected it clashes negatively but cant prove it

      Actually came here to comment on this. Poison creeper has a different way of poisoning. it does damage (re-poisons) everytime something moves on it so if something walks across it it is constantly getting repoisoned so it takes, say whatever the damage is per .1 second. but it does that over and over again and never actually starts the clock on how long something is poisoned until it is off of the creep. So if that makes sense this will be easier to follow. If something has rabies and walks across the creeper it bounces between the damage of creeper and rabies every moment it is moving. They dont stack rather pass the damage back and forth. This actually accelerates how fast the damage is being dealt by both. It makes for some crazy fast life drain and damage. But it does not extend rabies duration just how fast its producing its damage.
      Having played D2 since.... forever when i read this mechanic i wasnt sure it was true until i used it and paid attention to the speed that life drained also the sound effects is a good giveaway of the mechanic working you can here poisoning sound effect playing over and over as things walk across the creeper.

      No unfortunately not, poison can overwrite rabies and rabies can overwrite poison. Ect also venom
      It depends on which is higher tick rate.

      some guide on maxroll said that, in short, new poison overrides old one only if it is stronger

    Building up ravens sounds like it would be good with rabies. Let the birds blind your enemies, run up to them and infect one then run away

      Often when I test out builds to determine optimal damage routes I will remove survivability as part of the equation.
      So I created in hero editor a sort of testing armor specifically for that purpose.
      The armor has not effect on damage output but is designed to offset survivability issues during testing.
