Metroid has better art design. But i dont think that has anything to do with power Metroid has much smaller areas and is meant to give a sense of claustrofobia, it takes that from the 'Alien' franchise. Halo is more like 'Star Troopers' or 'Stargate'. Also the lore of Metroid seem to be more similar to Alien as it goes back to ancient biological engineering as is shown with 'Promotheus'. Only thing similar are their outfits.
I have always found the comparisons between Halo CE and Metroid Prime (honestly both respective trilogies in general) to be such fascinating comparisons. Metroid is so much more detail in its world designs as well as characters while Halo has a more simple art direction. Despite that, Halo has much larger maps which allows for more dynamic combat scenarios as well as fantastic multiplayer maps. The Halo games have great stories, but most of that comes from the books. Metroid Prime 1 on its own introduces a near Elder Scrolls level of detail to its universe and each future entry just adds more and more lore. Halo 2, ODST, and Reach introduced more interesting characters than the Prime games however, allowing for the player to go beyond just playing as 1 character (apart from Prime 3 and Hunters.) I can't wait to see Prime 4, and I hope Halo gets back on its feet soon.
both games look great for different reasons. Halo was cutting edge at the time due to its large and expansive levels, and advanced enemy and friendly AI, and was one of the first games to implement crepuscular rays (god rays). as such, the game took a hit in polygons and framerate. Prime on the other hand has more advanced geometry, due to areas being more condensed and sectioned off via doors. enemy AI is also rather basic compared to CE. both are amazing in their own right, and I love both equally. plus if you like the Alien/ Aliens series, think of Metroid as Ridley Scott, and Halo as James Cameron.
thanks for this. Halo looked better but ran at 30fps, Metroid made some sacrifices for the smooth 60 but still looked great. Two masterpieces and very different games, what a time to have these release back to back
You're welcome! it was very fun making this.. I'd have to agree with you too. Both were top tier but Halo had some things like bump mapping and some pretty nice reflections for the time. Prime had a lot of "extra" effects to add to immersion, both had great textures for back then..stay tuned for what i have coming to follow this up. :)
IMO, Prime is the more visually pleasing game, with more varied and dense environments and lighting effects (lighting effects that were actually toned down for the Prime Remaster, oddly enough), and the fact that it manages to do this at twice the framerate is all the more impressive. Even so, you can tell that Halo is running on more powerful hardware. Better image quality, higher resolution textures, bump-mapping, much larger environments, and a lot more enemies at one time (with much better AI to boot). Both games looked great for their time and did their own thing, from a technical perspective, that suited the type of game they were respectively.
@@Deliveredmean42 I used the wii version because I preferred it's camera control for this comparison, but you could use either one as their graphics are the same.

Metroid eats Halo for breakfast.

Metroid wins but Halo 2 puts a good fight against Metroid Prime 2.

Halo looked better? Pls have a look at 1:44
Sacrifices!? Metroid Prime looks like the next generation after Halo's graphics.

Prime didn't have to sacrifice anything by achieving these graphics at 60fps, GameCube hardware was pretty powerful.
Metroid wins because the capability of having your gun not technically centered in the middle of the screen in my opinion!
That's actually really funny you picked up on that. To be fair GC doesn't move that way though lol
@@Emerald-Bearer Huh, so I guess it will be better to share the gamecube version then?

@@Emerald-Bearer WII -version has inferior water effects and some lighting not as good, but it's widescreen.
@@M1XART That's why I captured water physics on GC later in the video and yea widescreen on there is nice for sure
Lol master chief is like the T 800 model from T1 and Samus is like the TX from T3.
Hilarious!
Metroid = Awsome,
Halo = Lamo
Both games are very bad but Halo is just sooo damn terrible.
In your irrelevant opinion
@@angelvillegas9604 Ninja said halo games are bad....
So your thoughts are an exact copy of Ninja's? Or do you have your own thoughts towards games?
