Sandman is one of the best graphic novels ever created. Since Neil Gaiman himself is part of the production team, I'm expecting this show to be really good. Fingers crossed. 🙏
Its the only thing given me hope, that Mr Gaiman itself is there and he REFUSED many previous attempts to take Sandman into series/movies. We can only dream and i hope well dream, and dream and dream.

@@StarryMidnight It was very good. It wasn't great. I liked the Corinthian, It was amusing. Dream himself was amazing. And the Irving the Gargoyle was so cute. But in the end, Im just not sure this needed to be made into tv show. Does everything need to be made into a tv show or film? You know what I mean?
What you mean? The series was great. The only issue I found was the dragged out finale for the season. By far the best DC cinematic release in decades.
Best. Comic book. Ever. A few months before the series ended I decided to stop reading comic books, because I didn't want to see Dream die, and without a new issue of Sandman, there would not be a reason to go to the comic book store merely to pick up copies of the lesser franchises. Since then I have not read many comic books, but I have read quite a few novels and stories by Neil Gaiman. By the way, I stopped watching the video when it was obvious that you were going to spoil the finale, because one day I will finish reading the series.
Binah is right. This aspect of Dream died, just like how 80,000 years before the series an aspect of Despair died. They actually explain it quite well and you should give it a look. Plus the Endless do show up in the DC universe even after the Sandman series concluded, just very rarely as Neil Gaiman has pretty much TOTAL control over their use. It's melancholic and painful, but still, as Dream said when he entered Hell, he'd endure because he had hope, and honestly the series feels hopeful at the end even with all that happened.
@@HermanaSilencio Oh yeah. I saw him here in Seattle at the start of May and yeah, if anyone else had control over when and how they were used, we'd be looking at some DCEU movie level crap.

Same. I was aware of the series due to the Novel of the one that takes place in Japan due to my being an anime fan, but the series was out of print before I started making my own money. Now I have the whole series thanks to the collections even though they are a little pricey. I even grabbed the whole of the first two volumes paperbacks and Ocean at the End of the Lane, autographed, at the show he had here in Seattle. Did I pay full price? Yes, but heck that's all he charged, so I figure it was worth it and I'm glad to have them in my collection alongside the hardbacks.
My favourite dc comics are Watchmen Saga of the swamp thing Hellblazer The Sandman Injustice comics They made other good comics but these to me are just masterpieces.
I must say, the Netflix series did flesh out the Sandman universe in such great detail, particularly the first episode. And although I have my reservations with all the gender swapping and Joahnna Constantine instead of John (which according to Neil Gaiman himself was due to some rights issues with a JJ Abrams who is doing his own Constantine thing), I think the Netflix series did a decent job .
@@kiranbharadia imagine you are at a concert. You have paid a high price for these tickets and you're really enjoying the show. The theatre is packed. the book Liber Pulvarum Paginarium is a joke between Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. It translates as The Book of Yellow Pages. It's literally the phone book.
Tom Sturridge is an extremely charismatic British actor, maybe a little too thin, skinny. Most of the actors are good, there are a few weaker ones. The stories are mostly quite intelligent, the trick technique is great. It would of course have been intelligent to translate the "names" from English, too - or to use the Greek names of the gods: the three goddesses of fate (Moiren), then the seven Eternals /The Endless: The Lord of Dreams/ Morpheus, Dreamer or Lord of the Dreams ; Destiny; Death; Destruction; Desire; Despair and Delirium (fever). There are also other gods, or Lucifer Morningstar (from the comics in blond), with mazekeen, demons and evil spirits like escaped nightmares (e.g. the Corinthian). The age rating is from 18 years and rightly so. In Europe, "Sandman" sounds like a children's fairy tale character. The series and graphic volumes from the 1980s and 1990s are extremely gory. What annoys me extremely again is all this new woke garbage. Men's roles occupied by women... The proportion of homosexuals in society is about 5 - 7 percent, but here transvestites, transgenders and homosexuals apparently make up a majority in every episode and have sex. It just pisses off all 95 percent normal heterosexuals. So, together with all the bloodlust, I can't really call the series worth seeing, I'm torn. Why not film the original comic volumes????
I remember the story. I think it was marvel comics explained that's made me aware of these beings in the marvel universe :0 I hadn't realized it until you named them off. I was like wait I heard about these guys :0
I’m so glad it didn’t say beloved. The word seems to be a death sentence as it invites some writers to write their fan fiction of them. I really like sandman but I love discovering new stories and characters. Or old ones I missed.
I like this series but was really hoping for a more darker and more dramatic series with a tad more action. It was good and entertaining but I guess as someone who has never read the comics I was expecting sometime different. I wanted it to be a little more rated R. This felt more disney-ish to me.
His siblings the endless, his son Orpheus and there is a set humans that are related to his sibling desire. Theres also his successor to his realm. They come much later.
Sadly they went woke and made it impossible to not think woke woke woke when you saw it. That make it kind of difficult to be in the world of Sandman when you look at it, because you are waken up in the woke world again and again and again. It is a serial about woke politics just as much as it is about Sandman. Neil Gaiman and Neil Gaiman is two very different people, the Neil Gaiman in the present is a sellout. I tried hard and manage to swallow the first episode, even if it screamed WOKE WOKE to me all the time. When he/they killed John Constantine with a lesbian woman in the second episode, i realised that i was no longer watching Sandman, there was only in the shadows we still could see Sandman, everything else was woke woke and more woke. I will recommend the Sandman cartoons, but if you already know them and still want to see the woke TV serial, be ready to swallow one woke elephant after another, or you will be extremely disappointed.
in Greek Mythology the grandparents of the gods and parents to sky, earth night and day are Chronos(time) and Rhea(flow) why would nei gayman would replace Rhea with Night is beyond me
Rhea is a titan , Night or Nyx predates the titans same with how gaeia , ouranus, chaos and time predates and god or titan. Chronos is a titan of time not the source of time.
Sandman comic is difficult to get into, it’s very different to DC & Marvel, I dare say it’s anti comic book. The Sandman take you on a journey not bounded by pathos or moral. Sandman is not for everyone.
I have a question. Has Sandman always been "woke." I don't mind progressive ideas in a story. But from what I understand it doesn't beat you over the head with "The Message." Edit; Sandman doesn't seem "woke" to me. Sounds very interesting with 3-D characters and not cardboard cut-outs of "X group of people." I'd definitely give it a watch on Netflix.
I would say woke as in it included non binary character, trans characters and gay characters which wasn't common in comics of the time. But being trans or non-binary was not the only defining attribute of these characters, they were fleshed out and had their own motives and pursuits, so you can say it doesn't beat you over the head with "the message". Hope that answers your question.
Woke? Gaiman was fast forward, theres all kinds of people, genders, races, religions and etc in Sandman....way before it was acceptable. Characters were 3d, deep and with texture, no one was JUST trans, they were a person, a human being with many angles living his reality. So if you are homophobic or whatever, you will find Sandman not of your taste. If you dislike current left wing ideas and pletora, you will not find it in Sandman the comic, in the show...i dont know.
It was considered edgy when it was written, for having a a trans character, and for Desire to be what's now called nonbinary, but it's not the same as today's "woke" stories. His characters have actual nuance and can actually do bad things. The only message is that people are diverse, and people can be monsters. As for the show, yeah, gaimen tried to pander to the woke crowd because he thought his edginess wasn't enough, so changed races and genders of characters. There was an uproar about the actress he chose for Death, among others.
@@humanity600 I haven't read the books myself. I just heard news that people are divided about the actress playing Death. People are saying they're making it woke. Others are saying it's always been woke. Sorry if I was too vague.
WASTE OF TIME! A fan of Gaiman, but not a comic fan and never heard of The Sandman before the Netflix series. Was BORING as hell for 6-7 episodes and then picked up only slightly. I'm sure Sturridge has good credentials but his performance did not instil the awe of being in the presence of a God or superior being, thanks to the director no doubt. Too much whispering, slow pacing etc and low tones throughout by most of the characters made it totally underwhelming. Even Vortex had about THREE expressions, despite her powers. If other characters did not tell us how powerful they were, we'd never know from their performances or the (lack of) action. Boyd Holbrook as The Corinthian stole the show while Jenna Coleman as Constantine also injected some life into this plodder. I doubt I'll waste my time on a Season 2, if there is one.
I already read the comics and I honestly can say this series is overrated. its not that unique no wonder why it took quite some time to have it in a Tv series. Also Death and a bit of Destiny is a much more interesting Main Character.
It seems Lucifer won after all. Gaimen apparently made his own Faustian bargain in order to see his brilliant creation brought to life on screen. Watching the series was torture and humiliation. I love the source material and genius story crafting characters and universe so much so that I was willing to subject myself to the insult that was done to all, who despite the malicious assault, watched through the display. It is tragic that we must participate in a farce to get even a morsel of something good anymore. Everything comes at a cost, the only reason I was willing to pay the ferryman this time was because of the value inherent in Gaimans work and craft which is one of the only wells which draws water in the desert wasteland that is our soulless modernity, which seems to be,hellbent on eviscerating whatever is left of our connection experience and faint memory of the fullness and inheritance of our human beingness.
Gaiman himself is a lord in his own right, like Dream, over the realm of his creations, however, Mr. Gaimen was created as a mere mortal. So, he is subject to the same weaknesses and infirmities and cowardice which plagues all of his fellowes. We are grateful for his great contributions and his efforts which despite all the disappointments found in this project are unmistakably potent.
That’s all. I’ve said my piece, and wish you well, but it aught to be conveyed that some feel betrayed. To be toyed with in those secret sacred spaces is not a mere trifle.
This movie should be called Tooth fairy bc of all the Lesbian, Gay n LBGTQ+none odiology I was really excited for this series bc of the comic book YES this was a DC comic book not a LBGTQ manual thnx for ruining a gr8 concept

I like this series but was really hoping for a more darker and more dramatic series with a tad more action. It was good and entertaining but I guess as someone who has never read the comics I was expecting sometime different. I wanted it to be a little more rated R. This felt more disney-ish to me.
Beautifull scary entertaining a masterpiece

just got the deluxe edition Vol. 1 & 2 about two months ago , i still need a few more volumes , and ill have the complete set ,
It’s poetic, the sandman
Awesome
I'm Not a Fan Of This Particular Show But can you cover Big Mouth given it's Netflix's animated Golden Goose
no imagination you have young one.
Somewhat off topic, but i actually have a friend named Daniel Bustamante. Very odd coincidence in names.
Netflix have take way too much time bringing this story!!!
They are trying to grab bank with the live action cause the audiobook alone was absolutely stupendous.
I’m really enjoying Netflix Sandman
nice
Love it
If Dream AKA Morpheus AKA Sandman AKA King of Dreams,
Ever appears in animated tv show or animated movie or video game who should voice him?
🤔 Nicolas Cage!?
How bout Matthew Mercer or
Crispin Freeman
James McAvoy did such and excellent and magnificent job voicing the Lord of dreams in the audiobook.
How bout AJ Locascio? He could voice Dream
Vertigo/DC Comics! Those were such fkn great times!
Did you have to spoil the end?
Hw i wish Morpheus could fake his death and Death keep him alive for the Next Epic battle against Lucifer.
It's Morphin time!

She is John Constatine's Great Great grandmother
@@arielnatalene3006 really?
does anyone noticed the names of all of them start with "D"
I still don't get why a "Cosmic Entity" can get manhandled so badly by a single primitive civilization...
Because he is obsessed with rules and refuses to break them. It’s his nature.

Lucifer: I am the Hecate. Vengeance Seeking. Morpheus Ending.

Does morpheus have any distant direct descendants?
His siblings the endless, his son Orpheus and there is a set humans that are related to his sibling desire. Theres also his successor to his realm. They come much later.
So will he die ?
Little tiny nitpick, but it's a soft G, i.e. Bur-jess.
Omg take my money
is his sister Death the same Death that Darkseid was in love with
Hows it morbin over ther =D
Is the Constantine of the show DCs John Constantine (just a female)? I’m confused.
She is his sister and she did appear in the comics ,they made her the main because of JJ abarams has his rights.
@@kasrasadrehashemi174 thanks!
*any
You should read the story abt how Morpheus angered Zeus and Zeus fearing the house of Nyx or Nyx herself leaves Morpheus aline
The Endless aren't gods.
This guy reminds me of a gigachad
That video title nearly gave me a stroke
It is unknown how closely the Netflix series would be close to the DC Multiverse. Will we see Scott Free and J'Hon J'Ones the Martian Manhunter here?
I doubt it, they couldn’t even get Constantine right. If they do it I’ll eat my hat.
@@cicolasnage5684 They couldn't get Constantine because DC have other plans for him. I don't know if they have plans for Martian Manhunter currently.
OMFG so dream is gona die??!! Omfg no! Ughhh. I cant see him die in season 2 :(
It will be at least 5 seasons so don't worry.
Sandman comic is difficult to get into, it’s very different to DC & Marvel, I dare say it’s anti comic book. The Sandman take you on a journey not bounded by pathos or moral. Sandman is not for everyone.
The first episode was cool, but it went down hill fast, by episode 9 i couldn't take it anymore and dropped it.
OF CANTANTI OF MUZICA
Should be fun. Now finish American Gods TV
i just home there will not be any incest here.
In show they make him emo not dark
..
Theres a difference between gothic and emo
This title doesnt make sense
JOHN CONSTANTINE WINS
If these characters are white then why are they all black in the show?
I have a question. Has Sandman always been "woke." I don't mind progressive ideas in a story. But from what I understand it doesn't beat you over the head with "The Message."
Edit; Sandman doesn't seem "woke" to me. Sounds very interesting with 3-D characters and not cardboard cut-outs of "X group of people." I'd definitely give it a watch on Netflix.
...🤨
Emo
Only 5,6 E are ok, E 11 is almost narrative.
Dream looks like an emo kid, with nice attitudes, but notlike the master of dream realm
Tragic and shameful that a man like Neil would trade off the giants shoulders he stands upon while pissing on their graves.
This book needs a new spine binding, it seems to have become brittle in some spots, but could still be salvageable.
That’s all. I’ve said my piece, and wish you well, but it aught to be conveyed that some feel betrayed. To be toyed with in those secret sacred spaces is not a mere trifle.
A fracture has been caused in the realm, and cannot be undone easily.
Did the graphic novel also push homosexuality endlessly throughout it?
Yes
Why was the Netflix series full of so many Gay, Lesbian and gender swapping stuff. Legit so weird, did not contribute to the story at all.
Why does it matter to you since u highly doubt you read the comics. Sandman series was always woke.
This movie should be called Tooth fairy bc of all the Lesbian, Gay n LBGTQ+none odiology I was really excited for this series bc of the comic book YES this was a DC comic book not a LBGTQ manual thnx for ruining a gr8 concept
Well you did not read the comic then
very western culture run in their stories, i never believe in culture or tradition it never proves anything, human shiould think about hightechonolgy, evoultion, revolution, high intelligence not into some kid fantasy or illusion. neil gaiman stories is like a gay culture, gay circus, fanboy nerd thing. Watch the terminator and listen to slayer instead.
I love terminator and slayer but what you just said is stupid and did not make a lick of sense.
woke shit by netflix thanks no
You’ve read the comics then?
@@Hamwcam no I doubt it.
