Yo thanks for this video fam. This video helped me because Instagram has horrible audio compression.
Applied "noise gate" and "compressor" to my audio. Minimal adjustments, worked wonders.

I can't believe 20 minutes went by so quickly!
I used to be a radio station engineer. I know all about frequencies and signal, etc. in engineering terms, not so much in artistic terms. Everything I've seen so far is, "Set your EQ to this and play around with it." It's nice to see a bridge between the technology and the art of the sound explained so tech and non-tech people can understand. Thank You!

I searched for a video to get a refresher on the Vegas Pro audio compressor and was happy to see a familiar, quality channel near the top of the results! Great stuff as usual!

If you happen to catch this, at the moment, the end screen doesn't have a link to a part 2/3 or 3/3, and there isn't a link to it in the description. I'll go looking for those parts manually, but lots of viewers are too lazy for that.

Damn, dude, you explained this so well. Even Audacity tutorials didn't even help this much. Thanks.

I watched this series a few years ago, and I just got a new mic again, so I spent a while trying to find this series again.... All I could remember was it was a series of long videos, and the guy talking was cool XD

Thanks so much for the effort taken to explain this. I always struggle with these sorts of videos because I'm not technically sound but you've done a great job (4 years ago haha) to keep it in layman's terms.

Hi. I need to reduce loud peaks (clicks caused by accidental contact with the Camera hand grip while speaking). Would that be best down using Track EQ?
I have been using Track Compressor but I am struggling to keep my voice loud but knock down those peaks. Can you offer any help?

Very well made video, cant believe how small views this had had in over a year!
maybe the target audience simply isnt that high in the first place but i think u deserve more vies AND subs.
keep it up and dont take breaks! I did and lost the really good momentum i had going.

OK so i have set the threshold on the compressor but it didnt do anything, the sound is being affected but the -6dB sound which is too high is still there, i set it to -13dB, it doesnt work...

Hey man this guide was super helpful. But now since I started to use Premiere Pro I have no idea on how to transfer this knowledge over to it. Any tutorials you recommend?

I just rendered out my first video with the ExpressFX Graphic EQ and am rather devastated after uploading it to discover that NONE of my changes came through in the finished product. When I run the file in Vegas 17, it sounds perfect with all of the EQ Balancing in place, but they're totally gone after Render. Do you know what might be causing this??

I’m curious why you used the Express Dynamics tool instead of the main Compression tool for compression? Was there an advantage?
I always thought that dynamics was for moderating volume (bringing the low up and the high down)- and that that was distinctly different from compression- which has the input gain & output gain sliders across the top; with the threshold, amount (ratio), attack, & release below.
So I guess I don’t understand compression as well as I thought I did after all.
So can I think of Express Dynamics as “Express Compression”?

Every time i make a new audio track in vegas pro , it automatically has 3 effects on it…EQ, TRACK NOISE GATE, AND A COMPRESSOR.
Is there any way to turn OFF those default effects that are automatically loaded onto any and all audio tracks i make???
i personally like to begin with DRY tracks, and add effects as needed. Thanks

    Very well explained!
But you should not talk yourself during letting us hear the playback, it becomes very hard to distinguish was is your recordings and your own voice. But the video helped a lot!! Makes my quality much better then as i had it before
