    Thanks! My washer motor was toast as well. Note to others: If you replace the washer motor, you probably want to replace both the washer motor grommet and the inflow grommet. Mine were both pretty disgusting. Also GoWesty has a replacement washer tank if the mounting tabs have broken or the tank is leaking. I installed the GoWesty replacement washer motor. Works perfectly. The OEM washer motor is no longer available as of 2005 according to my local VW dealer.
    And as noted in the video you need a friend to trigger the switch to test things. Be sure to test the new washer motor before you reinstall the whole rig.

    If a washer pump, starter or fuel pump doesn't come alive, I always tap them to see if they do, alot easier than dismantling everything and having it working again, but usually they are due for replacement anyway, but customers always right :)

    Now I just need you to show me how to pull the dash so I can figure why my right nozzle stopped emitting fluid :)
    I already replaced the sprayer and gasket. Happening somewhere between the tank and sprayer. Thanks for your time in sharing this info.

      Try to blow into the hose if you haven't already. A bit of air pressure, followed by pump pressure, can free up debris that is stuck. If you remove the glove box, you might be able to see if the hose is pinched somewhere. Dash removal is not that bad. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!

    • @heart4Pahoa
      @heart4Pahoa 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I blew pressure into the hose with minimal resistance. I dropped the glove box and took a quick glance (pretty sick so in bed most of the weekend) and I did not see any of the wiper fluid line, but wow is it clean back in there. Looks brand new. I was expecting to see cobwebs, old drug runner's stash or even Jimmy Hoffa, but not sparkly insides. I will be more thorough next weekend. Thanks for the tip. I'll update if I have anything.

    My rear wiper is giving me issues. fluid works properly but the wiper arm works sometimes and sometimes not. also does not want to shut off very easily once it does start to wipe...when it does wipe that is.
    any tips? is it a starting to fail relay or if it were the relay would it just stop working completely?
    does the front wiper relay also control the rear or is there two separate ones?
    front wipers work no problems.
    any help or advice would be greatly appreciated...p.s. enjoy all your vanagon videos. they've helped me more than a few times.

    • @EXOVCDS
      @EXOVCDS  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't have access to my vw wiring diagrams at home... I just checked a Mitchell wiring diagram and it shows a separate relay for the rear. Does not tell me which relay or where it is. Put your finger on one relay at a time and feel for the one that clicks... when you activate the rear. You can then remove the cover of the relay and check for bad solder joints on the circuit board.

    just did what you show here. Replaced the switch arm and it was working fine a few days ago. now just the wipers work but no spray. dropped the tank and checked the volts at the connection, its reading about 6 or 7 volts. The pump works when connected to a 12 v source. any suggestions as to how to fix it?

    • @EXOVCDS
      @EXOVCDS  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Check the ground side... if it has power, the ground is also needed. If the ground is OK, then the pump is bad / stuck. Tap on the pump.. might start working again for a while.

    Hey man great video, our windscreeb washer pump is causing us some headaches. if we disconnect the pump and hook it up to a battery it runs fine and we're getting 12v to the connection when we pull the lever switch. any ideas!?

    • @EXOVCDS
      @EXOVCDS  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How's the ground? I forget if the ground is through the switch or straight to the frame. I'm still at work... will get back to you tonight after work.

    • @EXOVCDS
      @EXOVCDS  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Just looked at a wiring diagram.... the switch supplies the pump with power when the switch is pulled or pushed (front or back pump). If the test light lights-up at the pump when the switch is pulled and power is checked at the green/red wire, then check the ground. Ground runs up to behind the fuse box (left corner at body panel). You can run a ground wire from the pump to the frame (drill a small hole, clean the frame paint off and and tighten into place with a self tapping screw).. or find the bad ground connection behind the fuse panel.

    I have a problem with the horn :( I have a simple, late wbx (1.9) transporter.
    Checked grounds best I could down on the column and batter but no luck. The contact ring seems perfect. However, if I leave the two wires before the horn pad connected and turn to the wheel to the right, there comes a point where the horn does sound. I don't know what that means or what should I do next

    • @EXOVCDS
      @EXOVCDS  ปีที่แล้ว

      The horn ring under the steering wheel needs to be flat & smooth. The little wiper arm that rubs against the horn ring needs to have good contact with the horn ring (the wiper should feel springy when pushing against it). There are 3 screws that hold the signal & wiper stalk assembly to the ignition housing. Make sure that these 3 screws are tight. A loose screw can sit higher and make contact with the horn ring. The steering column is grounded by a wire at the base of the column. Check that wire to see if it us loose or corroded. With the steering wheel off, take a screwdriver and rest the shaft of the screwdriver against the horn wiper & the steering column shaft. Every time both are touched, the horn should sound... yes / no? Key on of course.

    • @Anomalous-Plant
      @Anomalous-Plant ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EXOVCDS I found the reason, at the very, very bottom of the steering column there is a small wire that was severed. I remade it and it works. Its not the loger wire that runs through the rubber cover, but one below that

    • @EXOVCDS
      @EXOVCDS  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's the wire I was talking about. Thank you for the update!

    • @Anomalous-Plant
      @Anomalous-Plant ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EXOVCDS the other one was worn too and I switched it as well. The column was also assembled a bit wrong I think. There was a big gap between the two parts that join together with two metal dowels.
