Regarding the "Why? Because We Like You" planned movie (which I'm surprised Disney has never tried to actually produce since then); I heard a podcast interview with Jennifer McGill that was several years ago where she mentioned that she had auditioned along with Chasen Hampton, Tiffini Hale (who sadly just passed away on Christmas) and (though she didn't mention him, I noticed him in the audition footage as well) Kevin Osgood; and following the movie being a casualty of the 1988 Writer's strike, all four of them would go on to the 1989-95 Mickey Mouse Club revival
The 1995 TV movie about Annette Funicello where Linda Lavin played her mother pretty much killed all of this being revived in the near future unless they want to try again now.
