    Thanks again for your insight prof. You're like a young aspiring Brodie! As mentioned my hope is this pick is used to trade into the top 10 to get a potentially elite D but all of these picks sound solid. In the past Grier has gone for quantity over quality so he may choose to do that again. This is going to be a franchise changing draft for the Sharks whatever happens, no doubt. Excited to see what direction they go in with their drafting and coaching decisions.

    I’m personally hoping to pick up Alfons Freij at 33 if we pick here

    A couple more RD who might be available at 33 are Charlie Elick 6'3" and 198#'s from Brandon in the WHL and EJ Emery also 6'3" but only 185#'s from the NTDP. I hope they pick Alfons Freij with one of our 2nd round picks.

    Intriguing thought about packaging 14th and 33rd to move into a top 10 selection. Sharks could definitely use some top end talent in a defensemen pool that does have some good players but is somewhat mediocre for the most part. I’d be fine either way and it sounds like their will still be some pretty good players at 33. Crazy to think that we basically have three first round draft picks this year.

    Yea, you do good work. Can you do a video discussing the sharks prospect pool and rank them?

      I posted a video a couple of weeks ago of a prospect update, though they are not ranked in that.

    Hey Professor,
    Thank you for this look at this important pick. The second round seems like a chance to find a viable NHLer regardless of position so to my mind very important. I think this pick is the kind in later years when this draft class has settled and we see what became of the many players drafted the 33rd is the kind of pick where NHL experts will either applaud or point to the guys you passed on that you now probably WISH you had picked. hehehe
    In Sharks history most people would point to Nabby and Pavelski as the most extreme version or even a Dan Boyle. Lots of teams passed on all 3 of those players before they landed in the NHL and excelled. I think for the Sharks to return to contention we are going to need at least 1 or 2 diamonds in the rough who maybe will not be the impact player of those previously mentioned 3 but, can at least become viable bottom 6 or 3rd pairing type players that will solidify the team for a long time.
    Thanks again Professor.

    Still hoping this pick is traded with 14 to move into the top 10 but you sold me Tanner Howe.

    Any good goalies we can pick up

    • @professorhockey
      @professorhockey  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      There isn’t a star goalie prospect like in some previous years (Wallstedt, Askarov) but I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Sharks use a fourth or fifth rounder on one.

      On this topic, I wonder if anyone will be making a play for Ilya Nabokov? Sure, he’s undersized for a G but he’s in rarified air being 1 of 3 goalies to win KHL rookie of the year (the last one being Vasilevsky). Not sure what his contract looks like in Metallurg Magnitogorsk but I imagine someone looking for a hidden gem at that spot might find one in him.
