Hey everyone, a couple of parts ended up getting visibility blocked and I had to trim them out. The full version is on our patreon. Sorry about the inconvenience, not much I can do again!!!!
Also please let us know if we should do just episode + deleted scenes or episode + bonus content. We only have time for one or the other, not all of them, apologies again.

Couple precisions, it wasn't army who complained about misogynistic lyrics. It was antis. For context, bighit was still fairly small but BTS starting to get success so early on made a lot of people insecure. So fans from other groups were the vilest possible and some media were on a payroll to crucify their every move. Same for the J-Hope hate scandal, army had to trend "J-Hope you are perfect" for days to try to make him feel better. If you wonder why army is so defensive sometimes, we had to go through so much bullshit early on. And as we become the biggest fandom, our attempts of defending BTS just came of as bullying. That's why we always keep receipts of every interaction

Also it was the Korean idol culture I think. It was unusual for songs like this to exist in the idol world, so antis and the press really took advantage of the situation to hate on BTS. From a western perspective, these lyrics are pretty tame compared to songs we usually hear from Western artists.

Yoongi once said that the company's stance on their music has always been "We know you'll get hate for this, but if this is what you want to do then do it", which I think is so great most companies/labels aren't like that :)

I did my minor in Women's Studies and I'll be honest with my Personal opinion. War of Hormone is really not that misogynistic. It is being sung from the perspective of horny teenage boys. It might not be the most mature way to talk about women but it's kind of fun to see that and then see the kind of men they grew up to be (they drink their respect women juice). It's clear the intent is like raging positivity towards women. The execution might not have been perfect but yeah, if you compare it to songs we have here in the west, it's almost comical how non-controversial this song is. Anyway I love War of Hormone, I understand and respect that some might not.

    • @TaylorCanada8
      @TaylorCanada8 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +15

There was also some discussion that the lyrics were translated in a more misogynistic way than they were written...I can't say as a non-Korean speaker. I agree with you...as they have always done, they were trying to keep it real with their lyrics and that's how teen boys think.

I agree, but at this early days, the big 3 media were already looking for anything they could use to give BTS bad press and this was one of them. They were smart enough to see BTS was going to be competition, but more than anything, they wanted Bang to fail.

I love War Of Hormone, and in no way do I find it offensive.💜
I think it's a fun, light-hearted, honest look and young men growing up; and how changing hormone levels start changing how boys look at girls. And they celebrate women. Even calling them a national treasure, and saying they should be protected on a national level. And that's hard to feel offended by. Actually, that's an amazing compliment.💜
And let's be honest, with only a few (very minor) alterations, it could as easily - and honestly - be sung by girls/young woman. Because we all reach that stage where we look at the other boy/girls differently. And women talk about how a guy looks, just as much as guys talk about how women look. And in much the same way.💜

    • @LPnerd
      @LPnerd 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@leahwarburton No one is arguing, we agree, only stating what others brought up in media. and whereas there is some validity to that, and it's worthy of debate, it was blown way out of proportion. also, in a way it helped to educate young men on what was ok, and what is not. Girls are not a piece of meat, no matter what their hormones are doing to their brains, LOL.

11:22 someone already commented, War of hormone - majority of the armys don't have any problems with it. And it started to have negative attention only when bts started to became popular in 2015, so this shows that problem was with haters who wanted to find anything to shit on bts. Even now, every day they attack bts for anything, JK was attacked for eating apple on livestream, Namjoon for posting Frank ocean song (when a lot of other idols also posted this song before, but everyone just praised their good taste, but because it's bts, they attack) like, haters and those kpop stans who think their faves deserve more than bts, make hate trains just because they are breathing, they would study every piece of content, of lyrics to find smth. Damn, they be knowing more about bts than armys sometimes 😅.

Hi guys! I'm only at the beginning of your reaction but I would like to point out some things. Like some other people said already, ARMY always has BTS's back. I'm relatively new to the fandom but I do notice the hate is real, even now. In early days Big 3 (three most influential labels in K-POP industry) feeled threatened by this new and different idol group. Bangtan was gaining popularity despite lack of backing on TV shows and no media play. Whole industry was and still is against them. They always downplay their achievements.
Second thing, their rise to fame is all hard work of the boys and ARMY. Other fandoms get jealous and team up against ARMY very often. Antis very often find new reactors who started their BTS journey and write horrible and malicious comments pretending to be ARMY. I think these haters don't have life, because they follow all the content just to be mean and hateful. How sad your life needs to be to spread malice as your hobby?
ARMY follows Bangtan example, we try to be kind, informative and helpful. Thankfully we notice antis in the comments very quickly.
Thank you for taking your time to react to our boys!
Regarding deleted scenes vs. bonus content. I prefer to laugh so bonus content is always my go to.
Don't mind the haters and antis, just do you guys!

I personally love the song War of Hormone and do not find the lyrics misogynistic at all. I think it is unfortunate that the Western connotation of "do them" is what it is but I feel BTS meant they were just trying to solve the mystery of females by doing the equations. Throughout the song they are saying women are confusing to young men but they are amazing. No idea what the fuss was all about except from the usual haters tricks. Proud of RM for not biting, but apologising, promising to do better.
I love your breakdown/discussion at the end of the video.
When kick out J Hope trended, ARMYs quickly trended J Hope You're Perfect 💜💜💜💜💜
P.S. deleted scenes for now. You can always do Bonus scenes at a later date.

I watch masses of BTS reactions and “try out” reactors who are new or unfamiliar to me. There are very few to whom I subscribe, but you two have utterly captured my attention and respect from the very first of your reactions I encountered and I subscribed immediately. I am so engaged and delighted by your reactions! Thank you. I will share you with my “best” friend since we were eight years old and another BTS Army companion whom I have actually never met in person, both of whom who live in San Diego, California where we grew up. I am certain that they will be overjoyed. As a “kind” old lady, I assure you that I don’t give a flying f🫶🫶k HOW you continue. Just please, do it!

"war of hormone" is the first song i've ever heard of bts, it's the song that introduced me to them so naturally it has a special place in my heart, but i want to say, as a woman, i've never felt insulted or offended or upset reading the lyrics. i was just like, oh, that's cute. that's what the song is, cute. a cute song about hormonal teenage boys liking girls. of course you can dislike the lyrics. if the song made you uncomfortable that's okay too, just don't listen to it. but to call them misogynistic? that's a stretch and i really don't get it

    • @leahwarburton
      @leahwarburton 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

Exactly. I love War Of Hormone💜. And honestly, when I first heard that it had been accused of being misogynistic, I was amazed, and confused. The song is an honest, fun, funny, and perfectly clear look at what it's like to be an hormonal boy. And that's okay.💜
And, as a 55 year old woman, I can honestly say that teenage girls are no different. With a few minor wording changes, War Of Hormone could just as easily - and just as honestly - be sung by a girl group.
But I guess, if you are looking for a reason to hate someone, you can always find one - even if the majority of sensible, reasoning people don't see it.💜
Because that's the thing, anytime I have seen a discussion about War Of Hormone, I would say 97% of people see nothing offensive about it.💜 And the majority of that remaining 3% have clearly not been ARMY.

    2. Girls are equations, us guys just do them
Now, given RMs known intelligence and love of wordplay - which translation sounds more like his intended meaning? - especially given that the song is about guys *wishing for* and *courting* the girl of their dreams, it's not about players who already have the girl

What Justin said. Costs nothing to be kind. Coincidentally, J-Hope has a song that speaks exactly of that. The song is called Equal Sign, off his album Jack In The Box (2022), he also performed this at Lollapalooza.
    Hate'll paralyze your mind
    Gotta see the other side
It costs ya nothin' to be kind

That MAMA performance that BTS did with BlockB, this@43:00 was my first ever BTS content i watched. Zico and RM had like a rap battle on stage, and once i heard RM rap, that was it. There were no subtitles, and even in the video dicreption, the only English word was Block B. I was able to find them and check out if the dude i was looking for was in that groups, but it wasnt. Then i started a man hunt for the "redhaired dude" from the video..😅 back then, within the Kpop community, there was only one reaction channel that was really popular, and that was JRE channel, so i went into his comment, linking that specific performance like crazy and asking if anyone know who this dude is, and after a while, someone kindly told me that he is actually a part of a group and the group is called BTS. I will propably forever remember how excited i was to find them and their content didnt dissapoint. My first ever comeback was ether i need you or run, and thats where my Journey with them started.. like 9 years ago..😅

The crazy thing is, j-hope is objectively one of the most talented idols in the industry and everyone in Bangtan knew that from Day 1. I mean, he won almost every single challenge on American Hustle Life because all those professionals could see how talented he was. He has non-traditional visuals so he, RM, and Jimin have always gotten hate from kpoppies about their looks but the talent thing was ridiculous and I think couched in the fact that he's so well-rounded, he's not as immediately definable as the "guy who does x" and kpoppies don't know how to appreciate anything not all dressed up in bells and whistles. j-hope does everything. But the good news is, we're living in an era where there are hit tweets and viral tiktoks weekly saying things like "growing up is realizing j-hope is the only actual ace in kpop." He's the top of the top, a role model to so many young idols and rappers, and the finest man on the planet, too.

BTS deserved no hate for War of Hormone. It’s literally just like the things some “ARMY” are telling JK about releasing Seven. I think it was more of a shock since in kpop these things aren’t talked about. As a European, I was vibing hard af and was shocked when the misogynistic claims came out. I would just like to say that even though a lot of Armies were not angry about their lyrics in War of Hormone, it was a little misogynistic but they were just young people at that time and I’m really happy that they did learn from it because otherwise their music might not have evolved as it did. It is because of little things that they are here right now. All the positive songs they have about women now and how their style changed in their next album (HYYH) shows how they were ready to accept criticism at the right moment. I know a lot of people might come at me for saying this even though I love them more than my life, I love them because they correct their mistakes. Not everyone is perfect all the time and as they said, we should not worship them as idols but treat them as actual humans who might make mistakes. If they can admit their mistakes, who are we to say they were not wrong?
Also, the hate they got for this was just too much though. I think every young teenager (boys and girls) do think like horny teenagers and so they thought it might be okay but it does feel uncomfortable to listen when you have matured and realised how women are treated like objects in this world. It does trigger a female rage in you when we are referred to as a piece of meat or only looked at because of our body. Also to the people comparing it to Seven (by JK) do not realise that seven is not in any way degrading toward woman so its fine because JK is a grown man now and can write music as explicit as he wants since it is not comparing the other gender to object.
What I want to say is that they are the biggest and the best group because they have to power to change for the better!! They have and will always make mistakes like any other human but they take accountability and learn. They really are the best!!!

*This is going to long a$$ comment*
Let's be real, War of Hormones wasn't misogynistic. It was just an honest song about what guys in that age range go through. They were straight up saying that they struggle with their hormones when they see a pretty girl, *and guess what? That's just being honest.* 👁️👄👁️ The title itself gives a clear idea to how they see it. A war. An internal conflict. And it's true to what guys in their late teens and early 20s go through. Bangtan has always been about talking about their experiences and being a voice of people their age.
The entire album, Dark & Wild, was really just about the turmoils of young adulthood. In the title of the album too, you can already tell what the sentiment was going to be. The first 3 albums spoke about school and issues of teens. And then from there, the darker days of coming to terms with adulthood. And then the HYYH series. Everything was thematic with stories they wanted to tell as they go through life.
Antis and fans of other groups were just grasping at straws to find something to shit on and unfortunately the media picked up on it and then some ARMY took it as truth and they themselves started talking as if the song was offensive. It isn't. We need to stop spreading this story as if BTS were misogynistic boys who needed to learn a lesson. Yes, Namjoon has learned a lot from the experience and has gone out of his way to speak to experts in women's studies, but I'm sure that whole ordeal also caused him unnecessary pain.
*Now, My personal take on this:* I don't see anything wrong with the lyrics of the song. All boys go through puberty and the things BTS sung in this are just reflective of their experience going through that phase in their lives. This is the reason I love them and their songs.. they didn't hide anything and covered all the feelings/thoughts of a person who is in his/her adolescent...one can see them growing up from then till today…I personally don't find the lyrics offensive and “most” Armys as well..as I agree they are expressing the struggles of dealing with hormonal changes in adolescence, and I'm sorry but sexual attraction is the number one pressing issue in most hormonal teens regardless of gender. There's a couple of issues I take with people who found this offensive. First, the double standard. You can't tell me young women were purely innocent in their thoughts and feelings as they watched these young men dance and sing, they just didn't make a song about it, at least not publicly. Secondly, the entire concept BigHit wanted from BTS is a representation of the youth culture and the issues youth deal with as seen and heard through the lyrics and music of BTS, and of course everyone has or will experience sexual attraction. Yes, they refer to see through clothing and high heels etc, but I've seen hundreds of posts referring to JK's abs, Jimin's body rolls and shoulder "accidents" Tae's tongue...you get the idea, and while many comments aren't necessarily teens it's not a problem. There can only be an issue if the lyrics were implying that I'm only attracted to girls who wear heels and sheer clothing, not sneakers and sweats. Anyone who has experienced adolescence knows however that if they're sexually attracted to someone the person could easily walk around in a potato sack and an adolescent would still be entranced.
A lot of people were offended by that line, "Girls are equations and us men just do them". Personally, I took it as "do them" meant they were puzzles to be solved, not a sexual act. RM was honestly shocked that people were offended by the lyrics and that they could be considered misogynistic. It was definitely a learning experience for him. He apologized and has since run his lyrics through a few professionals in women's studies before releasing a new song. They don't really release songs like this any more. *But to that a korean Army said translation in English were a bit off, which lead to misunderstandings and explained it saying : “I was kinda surprised it's translation was "do" because that part "do them" CAN actually sound offensive to some people, because the meaning of that word 'do' is not clear. However I can clearly say that it's not meant that way, and Korean version lyrics tell that. Words are more specific, and not controversial in Korean version lyrics, because it doesn't say 'do. That part in Korean is 여자들은 방정식 우리 남자들은 해 which says we men are 해 is a word for mathematics, and it means the 'answer/the final number'. So it means they solve. the complex minds of the girls. 해 DOES have the meaning of 'do' too, but its not appropriate to translate this part of the lyrics that way, because if u say it means "do them, it doesn't fit the sentence there. Since there's no Objectives for that Verb 'do' and that's... kinda awkward. plus. the context and meaning of the whole sentence is talking abt mathematics and Equations so what u said is true. It doesn't mean sexual way”* it's freaking mistranslation, if you don't belive me ask any korean, not only k-army but any Korean.. it was done to sabotage BTS's career..💀
BTS hv made few mistakes unknowingly early in their career and said things which can be considered offensive, as they were young but they hv re-educated themselves, apologized and never repeated the mistakes again..but I hv seen many k-popies and so called Multi Armys twisting many things because of that..take for example this song.. it's blown out of the proportion just to cause drama..and they were sadly successful in that..haters/antis tried every lil thing to bring BTS down & sabotage their career ngl..
*Now last but not the least* ..when this controversy happened, When joon apologized, The one thing that struck me about that was a part in the statement saying they took so long to apologize because they wanted to understand what exactly was the issue... And that part I definitely liked, I've never been a fan of blanket apologies.. BTS always try to understand the problem & try to improve..joon apologized because as the controversy was over "ppl were offended", he apologized for the ppl who were offended by this song, that doesn't mean the song was wrong, he was kind enough to take responsibility for it, ofc bighit & BTS took this issue (which was blown out of proportion) and apologized so that this unwanted drama surrounding the song would end (isn't that common sense) he sincerely apologised..but that doesn't mean that WOH is misogynist or objectifying women..like the title itself clears it out! "War of hormones" what ppl expected form this song to be like seriously?! Ppl who still want to believe that WOH is objectifying women are really dumb for me..like be practical..that's all i can say🤷🏻‍♀️
    *I'm out* 🚶🏻‍♀️🚶🏻‍♀️🚶🏻‍♀️

Bang PD meant his own relationship with BTS. There is footage of them all getting a turn to express their complaints and both Suga And V yell at Bang PD with humour and he's laughing. Suga says he lied to him saying he would not have to dance znd then BTS gets the hardest dances. V said it was a whe before Bang PD could even remember who he was. The very corporate style of ghe other agencies this would have been a complete impossibility.

that dance section at the end. they released 1 video with 3 different editing styles or camera angles because the music show was filming unnecessary things, like the audience or the stage with the audience from a far camera that you can hardly see performance.. THE MEMBERS SOCKS.. like it was filming everything but their performance
they also did this to one of their MVs, not the official MV but the MV that focuses only on the choreography. it was hilarious 😂

I started being a fan since 2015 and had only means to limited internet. When I did have much freedom, there were so many content I need to follow through and did not have a chance to explore amazing fan-made stuff. Watching you and watching this series kinda made me re-learn the members again, especially with the 2018-onwards eyes. It's nice to watch this with you guys! Thanks for the genuine reactions. Just to warn you guys, while ROB is a very good series it tends to not explain enough and leave new people confused.
It shows "scandals" but doesn't properly explain what happened and that they were false/had no real base, she only shows the accusations, so viewers end up believing that that's what actually happened.
It also glorifies their journey a bit and shows pretty much none of their hardships, picking only some stuff to show.
Here the "misogynistic" lyrics she showed were mistranslations, she only added a little box saying they've been "disputed" as mistranslations which leaves room for confusion. She also didn't explain the context of the song, bts were making fun of hormonal teenage boys and their thought process, this should be pretty obvious from the "I pop my pimple" line lol.
Also the misogyny accusations didn't come up when the song was released, no one had a problem with them at the time, it was only a couple years later when bts were getting big and people were looking for dirt on them that these lyrics were found and people took them out of context and tried to "cancel" bts over them.
The way she frames it it looks like the accusations came right away, when in reality people(antis) got mad years later.
Back in 2014 WOH was actually more popular than Danger and did well,
ROB is still a series made by a single fan with a lot of content, so it can't be perfect.
This is why the creator deleted the series from her channel, she said that she wasn't happy with the way she portrayed a lot of stuff and since new people are watching it she didn't want to leave people with misconceptions, so keep that in mind :)

I am guessing that you two are doing this because you want to, you enjoy it. In my opinion why are people watching reactors if they don’t want them to react? You guys should listen to Born Singer with the lyrics on your own time or on the channel some day. It's their version of Born Sinner by JCole, and the lyrics are written with each rapper's personal experiences bleeding through intensely. It was a soundcloud cover at first, but they officially released it in their anthology album Proof in 2022 (which is momentous bc to release it officially means they got JCole's approval, which ig was a build up to his collab with jhope before the latter enlisted in the military.)
Obviously, because of the autobiographical nature and the connection the song has with the growth of the fandom and BTS, the members have performed it at three special occasions, the first being in 2015 (th-cam.com/video/8cUQ3lF3_O8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=CI4N5Jg9HZcoe1Sw) as you saw in this episode, and imo the most rawest performance they've ever done. The second was in 2017 (th-cam.com/video/2rsLj1VN3S0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=wO13Zh9gZV6TrrgL) at the finale of the Wings Tour, which feels momentuous because they'd just achieved their new boom in the US and the song took on a new meaning bc of it. The third performance was during their anniversary in 2022 (th-cam.com/video/oH4IZw9PYgk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=GK-iYN-1udQ9nICp), and once again the meaning of the song had changed as they were in preparation to announce the halt of their group activities in order to enlist.
Each performance, Namjoon tweaks his lyrics a bit to fit into their current position a bit better. But the core emotion stays the same- they're born singers❤

I'm still bitter about what happened with War of Hormone. That song was such a fun good time but antis and the salty industry were anxious to stir up issues. They were still pissed that the nobodies from the nobody company beat their new Big 3 groups out for a bunch of new artist of the year awards which painted a target on BTS's back. No one would care about a tiny group since they dont have the resources and access possible to make much noise or impact. Yet BTS winning awards so early on (that were seen as belonging to Big 3 groups by default) was seen as an affont to the stats quo.
So when it became clear that they could be a threat, they got dogpiled on. It was sheer pettiness and an attempt to protect the status quo that ensured certain people could succeed while blocking the way for others. It's why we say BTS paved the way since the industry was invested on having roadblocks that only particular people could pass through with ease.

SOME of us are 🏳‍🌈 💥💅💁Lmao Fr though... but now Joonie talks to a female studies expert every time he writes a song with any implications towards the opposite sex. It was an experience they needed to evolve, to grow and learn. AND THEY DID. Most of the songs you'll hear from now on are about friendships or their personal brothership they have with each other. Don't worry go with your peace...
Hmm with this last part - dance performance - it was for show - they wanted performance frim BTS and tyey did this big choreo but camera work was so bad like it was shocking actually bc it was big tv station and BigHit was angry bc they had take long time to prepare snd it was only dance and nit even tgeirs song and yhry dhowedythem so poorly, so big hit out on YT video thst you saw fragment and there was this performance three times was "good camera" second was "very good camera" and last was "do you want more?" And tgey showed performance again but from both cameras plus zomes long shots and close ups. It was really petty video. 😁
Hmm I would stay with Delated conntent bc this are framgents that autir wanted to out in episode but didn't have place for it.
And Bonus are usually more fun stuff to get know theris personalities more and how much goof they are, and I think you can watch it at any moment when you will have time or want to, even if it is in long future.
