You guys clearly don't understand how this works. It's like interrogation. He can't answer simple questions at times with a simple answer. He extends it to make it seem like he's saying something but since there is no answer to the question and theyre on a certain time. They cut him off bcs he's just trying to prevent questions
Eduardo Labra I disagree, it is an interrogation, thusly it has an agenda. which is to try to prove him guilty, they are using tactics such as interrupting in order to prevent a full answer
@@zacgraham3327 it's a smart move to get out the lies and see his body language towards certain question. Notice how bezos is smart as well and won't answer questions correctly. Plus they're on a time limit. Bezos is smart and tried to move on with his plan which is extending his answer. That's the reason they cut him off because there are several questions to be asked/answered. Another example is epstein. Look how they ask him questions and see how uncomfortable he gets and tries to "not understand" certain questions. And see how he plead certain amendments to protect himself from saying the wrong things because he knows he will get caught...
Eduardo Labra I think comparing this to the Epstein case is rather far fetched. He won’t answer the questions “correctly” because the questions are predatory in nature. So as he tries to give more context to the situation they will cut him off because he will be able to show that their narrative is not necessarily built on stable ground.
I am in no way defending Bezos, I think its ridiculous that his company paid zero taxes last year and I do believe they use AWS and other data they they normally wouldnt have access to as a competitive advantage but asking questions for sound bites and not giving a chance to hear a full answer because the answer might just make sense is ridiculous .... these "questionings" are pointless
AWS is cloud, not data and has nothing to do with amazon store. And data analysis to outcompete competitors has been here for ages. Just because someone thought that we can use computers to help with one doesn’t mean it is bad thing.
I have no respect for Bezos, his composure is part of why he's in his position. It says nothing about the societal morality of his business. I also don't respect Congress...
When i saw a news article regarding Stan Lee's death and the title was called "Stan Lee did a lot more than Congress." I replied "In what sense did Congress even do." 🤔🥱
You've obviously never been robbed by Amazon. I've worked as a seller there for 6 years. They are definitely abusing their monopoly power. Everything congress says here is true. Bezos is full of BS. That's why they cut him off. Amazon is a bunch of criminals.
i mean, it may sound like a reasonable question, but the sheer volume of the company would make that undoubtedly impossible to answer with confidence. It doesn't make him a bad owner/manager/whatever to not know, it just makes it realistic.
I have a suspicion that these types of weak softball questions are often telling of how intentional and in-authentic these congressional hearings are. I really don't suspect there will be any trust-busting happening anytime soon for these tech giants.
He rephrased it later that - why don't amazon take the responsibility of selling stolen goods. Yes, they have policies to restrict it as much as possible but at the end of the day if stolen goods are being sold on Amazon. Amazon do not take any responsibility even though they earn their margin on it. It all falls on to the seller and customer.
You guys are so simple minded it hurts. This is a "wolf in sheep clothing" question whose purpose is to get Jeff Bezos to say whether or not they have policies in place that properly vet goods before listing them.
People are stealing content on youtube all the time. TH-cam isn’t responsible for their users actions due to safe harbor. Why didn’t Amazon have something similar
@Reginald Jones not all answers are binary, business decisions need to be backed with context to understand why they were taken. And when you're taking decisions at this scale, it's often impossible to satisfy everyone. In that case the decisions need to have a balance for the holistic good. To understand why such decisions were taken you need domain expertise and skills.
Reginald Jones this whole thing shows that congress people know nothing about an online business, you can't just say yes or no for the questions they're trying to make them look bad when they've helped so many start up and small businesses which is something the government can't do. All they do is take way too much income tax.
@@bvm437 everything could lead to a lawsuit. So asking yes or no questions is not recommended. The government and the police are trained the same way to make you say something you are not guilty of. They didn't care about the actual answers, so they rush through that part. This is the most exposure these representatives will likely ever get so they want to make the most of it.
They’re investigating monopoly’s and anti consumer and anti competitor practises. They don’t need to be told the entire business strategy they just want to find out if their information they’ve gathered is correct and if it isn’t. All these companies par-take in anti competitor practises, except for apple for the most part. No one company should have so much user data like Facebook, google and amazon do on their customers.
Brendan Turner but they also did help lots of small business in giving them a way to advertise and sell their products, because it's way harder to start up a real store, and cost way more money and hard work. They helped many people.

We're a multimillion dollar seller on amazon and 100% convinced that Amazon's algorithm works in a way that it allows you to sell a certain amount and then cuts you off.
The company I work for also has the same issues with Amazon. Every complaint is true. Anyone can go to the Seller Central forums and see thousands upon thousands of complaints from Amazon's corrupt business practices. He's not helping small businesses as he claims, he's using them to make himself richer.
Amazon aren't saints but oh my do they have the best customer service imo. Never had an issue with them and they'll literally give you a refund any reason. Got a free videogame from them lol
I have been happily using amazon regularly for well over a decade, Only very occasionally do I have a problem. One thing I would like changed is how to return items when it is not what you ordered. If I simply change my mind, and decide I don’t want something, it should be on me to go somewhere to drop of the item, but when they send something that is not what I ordered, it should be one them to collect the item from exactly where not was delivered, namely from my home. Another thing that I would like to change is for Congress to legally ban the common practice of listing ratings and reviews, not for a single product, but for a whole range of different ones. I understand the rationale for listing the rating for every size and color of the same shirt together, but when I see that there are several hundred reviews for a product, with a certain average of stars, I shouldn’t have to sift through the reviews to figure out how many of those ratings are for the shirt, and how many are fora pair of pants they also list as an ‘option’ on the same product page. This practice should be criminalized as fraudulent. and misleading. Also, when I do complain to Amazon about misleading and in some cases wrong information about a product, I expect not only to be able to return an item, I expect them to have enough staff to change the product information immediately. Amazon is hardly alone in this kind of thing. Since the pandemic started, I have done all my grocery shopping with Instacart, and they also are very unresponsive to requests to change inaccurate listings. But, in both cases, the benefit of using them outweighs the small but constant frustrations.
Jet and Walmart combined have about 1/10th of Amazon's sales. It's hardly competition. It's like comparing arm to Intel. Amd is considered the competition keeping Intel from monopoly, arm, like other e-commerce sites, are just kinda fumbling around the giants ankles.
This was stupid hard to watch, bezos never had a chance to speak and I felt like alot of questions where very subjective "Why are you compared to heroin" like he's not the one comparing himself to heroin ask whoever said that smh

The whole thing is just:
"Hello fellow voters in my district! Look how tough I am against this evil CEO! Please vote for me in November! Oh Mr. Bezos, you actually wanted to answer that? Sorry we don't have time for that kind of nonsense."
Murica is weird
They are bringing issues to light, and getting a short answer, denial, ignorance, etc. So that they can follow up later. It's just a pre show.
This is the way of the left in politics.

“Are stolen goods sold in Amazon” is probably the dumbest question I have heard.
i mean, it may sound like a reasonable question, but the sheer volume of the company would make that undoubtedly impossible to answer with confidence.

Government are the worst they love to criticize others but hate to be criticized, they just want to squeeze all the money from hard working taxpayers.
The problem is not how they treat customers, it's how they destroy competitors and their own sellers.

So Walmart is not competition for them?
It’s funny, there is competition like Jet and walmart, and it’s also funny that the government has done more harm with data than Amazon ever could
Remember government is a monopoly on force. I wonder why hasn’t the anti trust laws apply to them.
Walmart bought Jet a few years back, and this year is now shutting them down.
Where do you think the government gets data from?
You have way more in common with homeless people than you do with Jeff Bezos.
Stop pretending like He’s some victim that needs defending.
Jet and Walmart combined have about 1/10th of Amazon's sales. It's hardly competition. It's like comparing arm to Intel. Amd is considered the competition keeping Intel from monopoly, arm, like other e-commerce sites, are just kinda fumbling around the giants ankles.
Chairman attacking amazon: 2:15 - 3:28 (1.25min)
Bezos defends: 3:28 - 3:58 (.5min)
Chairman interrupts to say many people don’t like amazon 3:58 - 4:12 (.25min)
Lol
This was stupid hard to watch, bezos never had a chance to speak and I felt like alot of questions where very subjective "Why are you compared to heroin" like he's not the one comparing himself to heroin ask whoever said that smh
Omg I find u in so many places.
"Mr. Bezos I believe you're on mute" lol
It's not his fault he has a monopoly on the system..
it's everybody else they need to step their game up🤦♂️
lol wut? the reason of the hearing is because of the tech giant's practices on stifling competition. u cant step your game up when by the time you get to the start line youre already taken off the game by the bigger player
They think they're bringing balance to the system but being mean to Bezos isn't the way to go about it.
It's scary how ignorant our Congress members are.
@@Will-cb4wb every smart business does this you keep an eye on your competition he's not doing anything illegal
SomeoneYouKnow damn you are dumb thinking this is being ‘mean’. It’s part of the arduous, bureaucratic process of investigation. This is a real issue, and they are using official powers to try to address it, or at the least officiate it’s ongoing.
@Marcos Filho Read a book, any book will do, thank you
Let the man talk. He’s literally the richest man owning one of the largest companies. Stop interrupting them
So money makes people more deserving of respect. Noted.
This guy reminds me of Saitama he works so hard that he lost his hair.
He was balding pretty heavily even when Amazon first launched...
Among all 4 Congressional hearing of today, Jeff looks like the man with most trouble for what he explained.
cuz they didn’t give him a chance to speak lol
@@jmkwak98 they didn't give him time to go around the question and use jargon to manipulate the meaning of the question.
Leonardo Rodriguez no they straight up didn’t let him answer lol did u even watch the hearing?
Leonardo Rodriguez they just straight up interrupted him without even getting the answer
I get it. It’s so hard to remember all the shady stuff when you can’t even remember how much money you got 🤣
I'm on Jeff's side here. This was a LYNCHING... GO AMAZON! (wheres my stuff???)
The only monopoly I see here is the monopoly of who gets to speak, for all the hearings no one full answer was permitted
The only thing money can't do is get you out of such situations
@5:03 i dont know why she looks so smug after questioning him like a grade schooler
