The double flute actually is not the flute you’re thinking of. It was an aulos which is a double reed. I play the oboe which is also a double reed and very similar to the aulos. I can say that it does puff out your cheeks and eyes just because of the embouchure and air support that you need to produce. My friends have even commented on the weird faces I make while playing the oboe.
I feel though that everyone forgets that the Athena from ancient Greek religion (actually dating back to prehistoric Chthonic Earth goddesses) is a completely different entity compared to the Athena after the rise of the Homeric epic tradition in the 8th century BCE.
Marsyas get's to take revenge in the Mythic Battles: Pantheon game where he can't attack, but can force enemy gods to move towards him if they have one of his challenge tokens on them. I really like that they included lesser known characters of Greek Mythology like that.
Here's how I imagine the inception of Greek myth: Merge something like cards against humanity with a drinking game, and make it about gods. You could call it "gods against humanity" or something. Also those earrings make me imagine a bronze bust of Dael with a tiny skeleton standing underneath holding it up by the ears. Imagination is a weird thing.
So Athena invents the flute because she is a vindictive sadist, Hermes invents the lyre because of irresistible compulsion towards turtle-murder, and if one can't out-play the actual god of music, one can expect to literally lose one's skin... Hey, did Apollo make Marsyas into a drum?
any time i hear the word lamentations i have to follow it with 'of the women' in my head. i dont remember puffy cheeks other than dizzy gillespie but thats trumpet not flute.
Got to love Greek Myths (to be true any myth :) )just for the vast variety of them and by that I mean over the same story. Take the mentioned Perseus and Medusa so many very different versions :). About the only thing for certain is the gods are dicks :)
I mean I knew Athena was not good. There was a time when I loved her but that kind of suppressed when I started searching her more but I think that thought of "wow, she actually is not that great" when I read Medusa's myth but also the golden apple myth that said, "to the fairest." Athena thought she was in the running for that, I can see why but girl you are the Goddess of Wisdom among other things. You should have known or had the foresight to think, "this is going to end badly" but your on vanity got in the way
Man...just turn your lute upside down and win then flay your loser enemy...Greek Myths are so damn random. Dael could make up some of these and I would totally accept that...actually I would watch some made up Dael myths.
Greek gods were not the best of company. Hades was fine enough, he stood there and did his job no matter what. Sure, he might kidnap a woman and force her to marry him, but after that he's all for women's right.
INTERIOR, ANCIENT GREEK LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY
"What do you do for a living?"
"I challenge Olympians to feats of skill!"
"Get out of my office."
...i'll never hear a flute the same way again. Thanks, Athena!

Two videos in one day? Awesome and Thank you! :)
I really do love your style of storytelling. You're the reason I subbed to the G&S vlogs, and I'm glad I've stuck around. 🖤
same for us all

Oh, that Apollo.
He's a bag full of chuckles.
Bloody, disgusting chuckles.
That escalated quickly!
Awesome a drawing I miss them when there gone
This myth is not only a music competition, it is also Athena and Apollo competing at being the worst.

Hey, did Apollo make Marsyas into a drum?
Well, music loves tragedy I guess.
I want to see your sources because that guy's name sounds so French that he is about to incite a revolution from a tennis court
Well that escalated quickly.
and thats all
Woohoo, return of art! Does the blood river have a name?
WHY? Why the flaying?!
Marius is a given name, Dael. Watched Les Misérables?: "My name is Marius Pontmercy..."
any time i hear the word lamentations i have to follow it with 'of the women' in my head.
i dont remember puffy cheeks other than dizzy gillespie but thats trumpet not flute.
Does this video mark the return of the Dael's drawings in videos?
we hope for it all
Athena may have invented the flute, but she didn't invent embouchure. Ask your sister.
ΕΡΩΣΘΕ ΚΑΙ ΕΥΔΑΙΜΟΝΕΙΤΕ!!!
I think you can play a flute upside down

Seems like competitions with the Olympians don't go well for mortals. Win or lose, you really, really lose. #PoorArachne

So do any of y'all think that any of the Greek gods are "good guys?" I can't think of Artemis doing anything I'd consider evil.
