Same and it gets annoying when some one fakes liking the song when it’s obvious and then the ones who hates the song doesn’t give a valid music critic. They call the thing water down and all but doesn’t fully give a reason why like my debate calling 5SOS all pop when they aren’t. Am calling out certain songs as boring and plain when it’s not your not understanding the elements and influences they are using an you don’t like them. If you really know music and have a sense of different genres that song you don’t like is totally like able to someone else. You can have your own opinions on a group but I feel like your showing your lack of music knowledge when too many producers and vocal coaches be debunking your critics at this point your missing out on good music.

I'm a Calum girl, so whenever you mention the bass and his voice (tho you're not sure when it's him), I get all warm inside, but I just love you mentioning every aspect of the songs bc all my boys are talented and deserve it

Yeah, in many songs on this album there are more people singing. They can sing all four but on this album the drummer ashton has like one line. You have Luke Hemmings, lead vocal and rythimn guitarist. Calum Hood vocalist and bassist, he sings the whole time in babylon and wildflower. Michael Clifford vocalist and lead guitarist, I don't know how to point his voice out on this album but he sings the first verse in monster among men, he sings the lead in the song jet black heart on their album sounds good feels good that song is known in the fandom as 'Michaels song'. Last you have Ashton Irwin vocalist and drummer, he sings on this album as far as I know only solo in moving along at the 'scared of moving on but you're already gone' in the bridge.
Ashton sings as the lead vocal in Best Friend. Best Friend is a bonus track for Japanese ed of YoungBlood

Generally Luke is the main vocalist in the band but on this particular album all of the boys were singing most of the time. Except for a few songs that are mainly sung by Luke: e.g. Youngblood, Want you back, Woke up in Japan, Meet you there

you should react to a whole meet you there tour concert of them. normally i would recommend watching it on youtube so you can actually SEE them perform cause it’s CRAAAZYYYY but because you actually break down the music i would recommend the spotify version. Meet You There Tour live album. i would prefer if you watched the video tho.
I listened to the live too many times. More times than the actual studio album so hearing him react to Youngblood studio album made me feel like I was also listening to it for the first time.

In this album, they switch voices a lot of times, and sometimes it’s just a line, it’s hard to notice in the fist listening. In “Valentine”, there’re 3 different voices. In “if walls could talk”, the falsetto part is Ashton (the drummer) but live is Calum (the bassist). In “why won’t you love me”, calum, Luke and Michael sing. “Babylon” is only Calum. But there’s so many others that not only Luke sings, I could be pointing here for minutes. Maybe, you could watch them live now and with the songs of this album, then you will notice. Also, they released an album live from the meet you there tour, that it’s the tour of Youngblood album. But I think that watching them on stage is better. ALSO, they did a cover of “no roots”, it’s really good and not only Luke sings so, you can see a little bit of that.

He REALLY needs to listen to them
The 4 guys in the band, Luke (Lead Vocal + Rhythm Guitar), Michael (Lead Guitar), Calum (Bass) and Ashton (Drums), they switch between each other when singing, its normally mainly Luke with parts sung by Calum, or vice versa, some songs (e.g. Jet Black Heart) are sung mostly by Michael, and there are also songs (e.g She's Kinda Hot) where Ashton jumps in for a verse or an alternate melody with different lyrics or something similar. Luke and Calum do sound really similar, which is where you're struggling to determine who's singing, usually Calum has a slightly higher voice with an accent (they're all Australian, but his accent is the most prominent when he sings), though Luke and Ashton have the most similar voices and are very difficult to distinguish between. I hope this is helpful. 😁
Amelia Skillicorn the safe assumption between luke and ashton is that ashton does a lot of high belting that luke just can’t with his range, as well as having a much stronger and forward head voice
MICO you’re so right... Ash has those head notes and falsettos so perfectly just “placed” in his range whereas Luke is a big midrange and some falsetto work in there as well
luke's got the true melodic sydneysider accent!! and calum has a more mixed accent because of his background or just his voice, which makes him sound almost asian when singing even though he isn't. the way they pronounce some (very few) sounds is different but with some autotunes (such as in flatline!) I do find they sound the exact same! and ashton i find has the least obvious accent and usually enunciates much better than luke or cal
In Talk Fast, Calum (bass player), sings the second verse, which you caught on to! And the Luke comes in after the high pitched "won't you wait." Also, fun fact, they all thought that Talk Fast might be too 80s inspired, but they all loved it too much to care. Calum thinks of it as the color blue, and Michael LOVES his guitar part in the second half of the chorus.

You should definitely listen to the meet you there live album...I think there you could notice more the difference between their voices😅 and its a hole new experience....I went to that tour live back in 2018 and that was the best show I've ever seen. Doesn't need to be a video material...but you should hear it. In the album most of the songs are lead-singed by luke, some Calum and some verses are singed by Michel with time you will notice them, I struggled at first to.
Also they have a series of videos called cocktail chats where they talk about the making process of each song an the meaning of them.

Empty wallets is such a good song because half of the band worked on the lyrics and the other half worked on the instrumental without seeing the other part of it. Then they put them together and it sounded like _that_

im rewatching for the third time and i still find it so funny everytime you notice a voice changing (and it’s not even all of them)! if and when you do sounds good feels good i would recommend pulling up genius lyrics or colorcoded lyrics on youtube so you can see who sings cause you’ll be even more confused.

Older 5sos is HUGE with stadium drums. As you move back each album, they more and more live type instruments whereas now they use a mix (and a ton more production lol). Ashton their drummer goes REALLY hard on drums and he’s crazy good so I love listening to the older stuff when you can really hear him going nuts on the drum set.

If you want to hear Ashton and Michael sing so you can pinpoint their voices(cause you've already figured out Luke and Calum's), Ashton sings most of the song Best Friend which is a bonus track for this album and on their cover of No Roots you can also hear him sing a lot and as for Michael, Jet Black Heart is mainly sung by him, their cover of American Idiot is also mostly Michael and Permanent Vacation as well.

I loved the Youngblood breakdown! It was really interesting. You should definitely react to their previous album Sounds Good Feels Good (2015) and the self titeled album (2014). I would really like to hear what you got to say about their evolution. Their live albums LIVESOS and Meet You There Tour Live are great too. And if you want to know what 5SOS got to say about their Youngblood album you should watch their Coctail Chats. They try to talk about the songs influences and so on while drinking coctails... so they get drunk and it´s really funny.
