A man after Gods heart. He was a great player powerful strong and unstoppable. I met him was going through a tough time, je tpld me to pray and believe God wil hear me and help me. I loved the man.
Great video, nice to see you added all the nice tries. My favourite the one against the Blues where he outran the wing and flyhalf. When he herd he could not play the world cup, because of bloodclots in his longues, he must have been devastated. But as he said, he prayed to God (Yahuah) and got healed. Amazing testimony too.
In the 2009 currie cup semifinal against western province at newlands he hands off schalk burger like a sack of potatoes when schalk try to tackle him i never saw an eightman scoring tries like him for sure an great athlete i also met him what a great human being 😁👍
Yeah it sounds like the same lady singer/Gladiator. Pierre Spies looks like the closest thing to a Superhero that there is in rugby. I've been away too long to know how his decision making is, but he runs with more vigor than most athletes out there. Very impressive. If he develops one of the best heads in the game, he just could be better than Batman ever could with training. Glad to hear he got Sportsman of the Year. Be nice to see more attitudes like his, then. Bravo!
Thank you for an outstanding video. Jeeeeez! If only most tribute rugby tribute videos were this good! Make some more. (Kankowski is also overdue one, Jean De Villiers, Jacque Fourie, etc) awesome athlete.
Im going to agree with you there man. but I think with his complete freakish human athleticism, if he develops more leadership, skill, and ability to read the game, he will be unstoppable. If he makes this step up this coming year or next year at the latest, I think he has the potential to be up there with the best backrowers ever
I think it has something to do with the lions tour to south africa on sky sports? Either was the introduction sequence to a test match or was an advert for the series. I could be wrong, hope it helps though! Type in Lions tour of south africa ad, should be a making of thing, which shows the final sequence!
Actually they recorded it on screen during the world cup pool matches, distance/time, and he was 10.3 on grass. His most recent 100m run was recorded at 10.2, its not a rumour.
@GpmNZ89 If you ask me, they needed game time to get going. They definitely rode their luck against Wales, but during their two real offensive moments, at the very beginning and some way into the second half, they scored. This showed, for me, that the Boks had potential, but needed time. I feel I was proved right after seeing the Fiji game, in which the South Africans won comfortably and by an good margin. Although there are still things to work on, I think they will improve with more time.
The Bokke miss him badly, only realising his true value when he is not there, Kanko is a show pony, similar players but doesnt have the edge or the workrate of Spies. I hope he will make is mark onthe 2011RWC as best 8th man
Most tries for a forward in Super 14 2009: 6 Tied for 2nd most tries in Super 14 2009: 6 Played in all 15 games, for 80 minutes for the Bulls in 2009, missing 10 minutes for an injury Minutes playedl: 1182 where 541 was Active Time Defensive Stats 140 Tackles in 2009, 5th most for Bulls Made average 9.8 Tackles/Game Tackle %: 85% Made the most Counter Ruck Attempts for the Bulls
Attacking Stats 169 Ball Carries, most for Bulls(2nd most in Super 14) 11 Line Breaks, 2nd most for Bulls Tackle Breaks, most for Bulls Counterattack Start : 11, 5th for Bulls Rucks Set-Up 143, most for Bulls Passes Made 87, 4de most for Bulls Made 926 Meter in contact, most in Super 14 and for Bulls Made 14 off-loads, most for Bulls 89.9% Handling Effieciency Made 323 Cleans, 2nd most for Bulls
Look at the stats I posted earlier, he works helluva hard mate. gets past the advantage line on every run nd commits atleast 2 defenders and most of the time 3, so he creates a lot, it's up to the others to capitalize. And go to his website or purchase his dvd if you want to get insight into his attitude. I'm not attacking, just pointing out one or two things
I think Pierre is faster, because he out ran Kankowski in the curry cup last year, but im not sure if it was a flook or not. Thery are probably very close in speed.
No no my friend, the Bulls won the S14 and he was rated the 2nd best in the team on many aspects (2nd most tackles, 2nd most running metres gained, the list goes on and I'll provide more if you want)
@TheTotalRugby It is not that he a overrated, it is more people expecations of him. Whenever he is not running 40 meters to score a try, leaving a bunch of casualties in his wake, people feel that he is having a bad game. Look at his work rate, even in games where he is perceived to be "quiet".
@3mnanmar The only problem with playing Spies at wing would be replacing either Habana or Pieterson on the wing. Not only are those 2 good players, but they are also people of colour which helps make up the numbers of non-white players in the team. If you were to play Spies on the wing, you would have to put another black player on the team who may not be the best choice for his position. Sad but true.
A man after Gods heart. He was a great player powerful strong and unstoppable. I met him was going through a tough time, je tpld me to pray and believe God wil hear me and help me. I loved the man.

What an athlete
Pierre Spies is an athletic freak of nature. Surely has the potential to become one of the best no. 8's in the game.

Yeah it sounds like the same lady singer/Gladiator.

Wow.. He Is.. Unbelievable .. Through My Eyes. A HERO !
I really hope he could make it back to top flight rugby this year.
Guy is a phenomenal athlete. Doesn't have the all-round game of Parisse or Harinordoquy but he's still quite a young a guy.
Ah! the amount of respect i have for this man.
truly is a legend
big, strong and as fast as any winger>
he's wat every boy dreams of being
Man his size and speed are insane but whats more crazy is that Spies is a true forward!!

6'4 108kg....still awesome though
I think we should just clone the man, perfection has a name SPIES
he is getting back there
I think it has something to do with the lions tour to south africa on sky sports? Either was the introduction sequence to a test match or was an advert for the series. I could be wrong, hope it helps though!
Type in Lions tour of south africa ad, should be a making of thing, which shows the final sequence!
that is awesome!
Pace for a Number 8!!!!! He's beating fullbacks!!
is he faster than tonderai chanvanga because eah time i watch chavanga run it drops my jaw.
Actually they recorded it on screen during the world cup pool matches, distance/time, and he was 10.3 on grass. His most recent 100m run was recorded at 10.2, its not a rumour.
