I was the one who recommended this stand. I use it with the Fire Maple XT1 .8L kettle with the heat retention rings like on a JETBOIL. I get an inside 16oz boil time of 5 minutes with this rig. I use an additional separate windscreen outside with the Zen Stand. If it is windy outside (above 10 mph) I use my MSR Windburner which is essentially not affected by wind below hurricane level. With smaller diameter cups like a Toaks 550 or 750 there will be edge flame spillage and loss of efficiency. With my Fire Maple XT1 kettle there is no flame spillages around the edge of the kettle and thus it is more efficient and faster than the smaller diameter Toaks cups. I don’t do backpacking anymore only day hikes so weight is not a top priority for me.

Thank you for the Zen Camp idea. It is a great stand for the Trangia. The MSR Windburner is a beast of a stove. Thanks for watching the vlogs and keep the comments coming.

This is one of my favorite stands for making coffee. The little cross piece slipped out so I bent each end 45 degrees about 2 sets of dots in, it doesn't slide at all now. It works best with a wide pot or a kettle. I will use a titanium wind scree with it on windy days. I use a slightly modified Trangia knock off and it boils water fast.

I was thinking about bending it. It is a great stove stand. Thanks for watching the video!

Good video. Alcohol stoves are addictive. Don't ask me how I know. I have the esbit version of this stand. I like the extra pot stand strip this has. But my lixada titanium wood stove is my go to.
They are expensive, but check out the Knipex Cobra small pliers. Lighter weight, adjustable jaws that get quite wide. It can do serious work and is an excellent pot gripper

I will need to check the Knipex Cobra out. I like the locking jaws of the Vise Grips but always looking for new tools. Thanks for watching!

I have been using one of these for a year or so…. I like it. The simmer ring on the Trangia does not work too well with this stand, so I have started using it only for boiling water for hot drinks. Sometimes use the Trangia, sometimes the Evernew, sometimes the Toaks siphon burner…. I like how the Trangia snaps in place. I usually use the small Trangia kettle for my water vessel. Now…. The Trangia Triangle works with the simmer ring so I use it if i am going to do some real cooking. Thanks for the video!

I am glad to hear the stand will last. Thanks for watching the video.

I just discovered something playing with a new home built stove. I put carbon felt stacked to the top of a Duke Cannon beard balm tin. Not original doing this, but I discovered the lid fits in a Trangia cutout in a lixada wood stove and mounts in the esbit stand like the one you have in this video. Pretty cool. The stove portion then sits inside the lid. It may be a good video for you if you wish.

That is a great idea for a vlog. I have seen some other vlogs doing the same but I am always interested in great ideas. Keep sending the ideas.

    Very interesting stand!
One thing I do is carry a gerber dime as my camping knife. It's relatively lightweight and has good functionality. I use the pliers to drop the snuffer on my trangia and adjust the simmer lid

At times I like to carry a Leatherman. They are so useful for in the field but I do like the locking jaws on the Vice Grips. Thanks for watching the vlogs.

Maybe put a small bend in the cross member to keep for sliding out..

Thanks for the idea but I tried a smaller bend. I am afraid I will lose support if I bend it too much. Maybe a bigger bend at the tips of it may do the trick. Keep sending the ideas and thanks for watching the vlog.

I am not going to take the Zen Camps ultralight folding stove stand, on a backpacking trip, without the carrying case. So before a purchase, I would sure like to know what the Zen Camps weight is with just the three sides plus disk with holes plus carrying case. Would be great to see how this pot stove stand compares to the Jolmo Lander titanium pot stove stand offered on Amazon for $25.00.

I saw that stand on Amazon. I will need to check it out soon. Thanks for watching the video.

For 95mm diameter pot (nests nalgene 1 liter bottle), that stand seemed very fuel inefficient. Flames not kept under pot.
For me the cross stand distance is optimal. So this stand is not for me. I like the windshield effect though.

It could be the level at which I had the Trangia. I am a big fan of the basic cross stands but almost always will need a wind screen. Thanks for watching.

@@ugly.teacher.hikingIt could be if you had it on lower slots. Still I think the designer wanted to make a flame thrower, as I read some Amazon reviews in addition to your valuable video. Saved me some money.
Besides cross stand I have no fuel efficient option for these small diameter mugs. It needs a windshield and I have a good one. Boils 1 cup, 240ml water with 10ml, 1/3oz alcohol.
