Played alot at the Royal Maine Camp in the 70s. A Marine named Vic Thompson from North Shields was a class Act on the Dance floor, Fantastic foot work back flips, spins, he would dance all around the edge of the dance floor... Out of this world. No sign of him since the Passing Out Parrade. What a Unique Dancer, no one could even touch him, never seen anyone as good in all these years. He should have got in the film, show business. Multi Talented some people have the gift! This song was one of his favourites, he had no trouble keeping up this fast pace. Shame we didn't have mobile phones then..
Would of liked to of seen his skills back then, it was a similar time to when l joined the R.N. and a lad from Yorkshire called Kevin Stones introduced me to this gener of music and he also commanded the dance floor in the under 18 bar at Hms Raleigh, try to teach me but some people have it and some are far behind.

2020 the lost year
On a family holiday in Cornwall and the boy I met gave me this single after he and his pal impressed my sister and me with their dancing, epic

Man these were all top notch NYC brass players on this disc. Many who danced their asses off to this the other side of Atlantic prolly had no clue Lloyd helped put together one of Buddy Rich's best brass sections, "Big Band Machine" who toured in '75. Also if i recall right Elliott Randall plays the funky guitar on this track, or maybe Cornell Dupree; both top notch string players too!

One of my favourites at Blackpool Mecca in 1976. Mind you it was stressful knowing when the last note was going to be played so you didn't feel like a prat dancing on when everyone else had known to stop at the right moment!

Ronnie Thompson, I remember my cousin having his evening wedding do at Upstairs Downstairs, first night club I went to.
I've never heard that before, nice tune.
Good tune. Found after doing a search on Lloyd Michaels the apparent lead trumpet. He studied with Roy Stevens.
Now Roy was the man! OMG could he ever teach trumpet. Sadly he was often criticized by know-nothings.

i remember being at notts palais all dayer they gave copy,s away at the door on entry.. they introduced mistura on to the stage and played the record ...there was more broken records slung onto the dance floor and guy,s spinning on the record in disgust because it went commecial in the charts . 68 pence to buy in record shop,s in1976

I remember Pans People dancing to this on top of the pops. Not northern soul dancing - disappointing buy kinda disappointing it got in the charts - should have stayed as a Northern classic not commercial. That's my opinion but who am I anyway!! ???? Keep the faith 😘

I remember this being played at Wigan around 1975. It's shoite. Brighouse & Rastrick brass band are more Northern Soul than this tripe.
