1978-1987 was a magical time for R&B. The seeds of the death of R&B were laid down in 1979 with the release of the Sugar Hill's 'Rapper's Delight'. It would take about another 17 years or so for hip hop to finally kill off R&B. It crashed and burned badly and is dead and long gone. Don't tell me about underground stuff. Culture is driven by what's above ground.

Man this is the most superb song that Melba Moore has ever made. It really fits her to. I remember growing up in the 80s going to hamburger joints and they had the jukebox at ever corner of the place were you can put a quarter in and listen to the least music back in the day. Hey 1982 - Reminds me of clubbing in Boston during my Junior year at Emerson. I would catch the last train on the Green Line down Comm Ave back intown from Brighton. I would go to the only after-hours club the downtown - THE LOFT- on Friday nights. DJ would spin all that great 80's music, but when he dropped Melba he would remix 8-9 minutes . Good times
