- The 2020 Renault Clio may look very similar to the previous generation, but that's because the clients were satisfied with the exterior design. However the interior is a true revolution. The new Renault Clio has the best infotainment system in the supermini segment, and despite some minor annoyances, it is probably the best supermini on the market right now. And the best Renault in years.

just a constructive criticism: switching the system language to english when giving a review in english would be an inmprovement.

He reuses the same shots as in the Polish reviews, it wouldn't make sense to do a whole different infotainment shoot just because you want to look at it. He explains everything you need.

Joystick behind the steering wheel is so much easier to learn how to use without looking at it than buttons on the steering wheel. It's simply a superior method and really intuitive.
What concerns the car, well its a french budget small car...The positive thing is, is that they really listen to customers

I had the remote audio stalk in by 1986 Supercinque. It has 4 controls, and super intuitive. You just operate it by touch, you never need to see it.

It's a great review. Thank you. One thing i don't understand it's that joystick behind the steering wheel that almost every reviewer missing out on it. Is a brilliant thing, there's just a few buttons there so it's really nice to have something like to mute the volume or change radio stations,etc at your fingertips. You really don't have to see it. When you drive the car day by day its just works, trust me. 😊😉 Thanks

For me these are great cars for small families and I would love to know Your opinion on which one is better than the others and at what (Driving Experience, Useful Space, Maintenance Costs for example).

Line 1.3 TCE and I love it! It almost drives itself and the equipment level would cost 3 times as much on a BMW!

The car looks very good, especially having taken some of the Renault Megane's exterior. I hope the engine choices will be good enough to compete with other similar faster little cars.

Yes.
The 208 used soft plastics on the top of the dash but has hard plastic doors and center console, while the Renault uses soft touch on: The mid-part of dash (under the vents), the part around the gear lever/phone compartment and the whole door.
I think that the use of soft materials is smarter on the Renault. I never really understood why manufacturers spend so much money in super minis to make the top of the dash soft.... you never touch that part...
But it the part that your eyes are looking the most..

Official Catalogue states 391L for gas and 366L of boot space for diesel version. But as is the case with all new cars, these numbers stated do not include a spare wheel. With spare wheel included you may want to subtract around 50 liters...
Rented one in France in June (2023) ... VERY impressed.

Ive been waiting for this review! I like this car almost every aspect, even considering as new one. Just wanted to know how manual shifts? In previous clio it was very unprecise, at least in the one I drove.
It's OK. Not a Mazda, but definitely better than the usual French stick in a barrel of sawdust.

That's how I feel.
If you gonna drive mostly 100km/h, what supermini do you prefer if you go by comfort/sound isolation? :) At about this price range. I think the 130hp is a bit too expensive. Fiesta? You are actually the first reviewer who complains about isolation on this Clio.
Nice review, I just came from your review on 208, you said there that you like this Clio better, but I really can not find why, except for the infotainment and the fact that renault has listened to journalists!! I am so confused
IMO the Clio is just more intuitive to use. And usability improvements generation to generation are noticeable.
At last MANUAL!!!!... now I would probably sell my 2005 Clio 182 Cup to get this one!
Good review. However, i can't stand people complaining about the location of the audio controls of recent Renaults. Once you've gotten used to the buttons and the placement, its a joy to use. It's almost muscle memory.
Yes, you can also learn to disassemble and reassemble firearms with your eyes closed, but normal people like to see what they are doing :)
Good review as always only the noise is something I do not agree with you. Perhaps because we drove the 1.3 automatic. What I do miss is some sunroof/sliding roof. But in all a great little car

Superb ! The New CLIO V
6:13 Renault audio/infotament control system is fantastic! After only one month of using it you would know exactly where is it and how it work. And you don't have to see it ever, you have to look at the road. it's much safer and easier to operate it by middle finger then thumb.
I can pick mine upcoming Friday with the tce100 engine
Still better than Tesla's new truck, which looks like my drawings when I was 4 yrs old.

As a former renault employee i can tell you mistakes like the boot volume are not for misleading the potential client. Its just the french way. They used to make much bigger mistakes. I think its better to make a mistake in the spec sheet than in R&D or in the assembly line. So it looks like an improvement to me.
I was indeed wondering about this number as well. I have a Clio IV and I would say the boot space is pretty much the same, or maybe a tiny bit bigger. But definitely not like 90 liters larger.
Eventhough it is produced in Turkey, it is not sold with the Bose sound system in Turkey :(

Assuming the Sentra is what we know as Pulsar/Tiida, no - they are not related. This probably share some components with the Micra.

Infotainment is disappointing, and handling can be tricky, if you're a keen driver. Though the 208 is the better looking car for sure.
This is exactly what I wanted to say - still thinking 208 is better than this, despite of my current company's car is a Renault :-)

How does this car compare to the Toyota Prius (3rd Gen)? I'm not a person who knows much about cars, but we are looking to get one for traveling the city but also outdoors (dirt roads, nothing crazy). I'm stuck between the two. I was looking at the E-tech because it included a reverse camera as well.

Neither meets your criteria. Look at the Renault Captur or Renault Yaris Cross.
I have to admit you have potentials to become a narrator for Deutsche Welle TV shows.
The 100HP also comes with Nissan XTronic automatic gearbox.
As I travel to work 2 hours a day it's disappointing to hear about the excessive road noise..now where did I put that 208 brochure ?

Dear Marek the so called joy stick is one of the best feature that renault has.
You dont have to see it uou simply memorise it.

So it's a year later and I've just watched a video on the new Dacia Sandero which is one of these under the skin, but cheaper, and that particular model had a 12v in the rear and this doesn't? Seems daft!

Do you know if there is a way to disactivate and reactivate keyless entry ( i mean using it like a regular key by clicking the buttons remotely )
As far as I remember if you disable keyless entry in the menu, it should work just with the remote control.
Excuse me Marek, but what hard plastics are you talking about? Clio V has soft materials on upper and middle console, the central part around gear lever, upper and middle door section, and door handles. Even Audi A3 entry level has hard door plastics. Sound isolation is great too idk really what are you talking about.

Fine video:) But my 2018 Clio GT (the "old" RS Line) have some of the same stuff you show as "new." Like buttons to unlock on the door handles, and even 2 handles to close the boot.
The media controls behind the steering wheel is a bit confusing the first time, but easy to use after a while. I like when there is not too many buttons on the steering wheel:)

The last version of the Ibiza FR was so bad compared to the RS/GTLine.
dear car manufacturers: gives us physical buttons and the option to turn stuff off. If possible, option for analog dials. Thank you, everyone.

Any thoughts on the E-tech hybrid version of the clio? Renault claims its drivetrain is inspired from the Formula E racing team. 🙄🤨

Even the gear lever in the face lifted Jaguar XE is "derived" from the F-Type (after the luxury XE-derived rotary knob annoyed the crap out of everyone :) ).
I'll be driving the e-tech Captur some time in February 2021, so stay tuned.

In Turkey with the highest trim you get soft dashboard instead of this harf plastic. It’s kinda annoying you couldn’t get the soft one

Eklavya Sanmuthiya i think it’s the best super mini ! Better than 208 or polo. But buy the edc 130 if you can. Take the camera 360 it’s useful. Intens is the best value for money. Rs is useless and initial too expensive

idk why he was complaining about noise because it is to do with the engine... I tested and will buy in a month the 130tce and its quiet up to 120-130kmph the 7th gear helps
Is it posible to see somewhere basic every day versions of new cars, not the top of the line models ? The cars that actually people buy are never showcasted on youtube
These are press cars. They are specced so as to showcase new features. To be honest, in base spec this would be no different to whatever other eco-box is out there.

Marek, I have the new clio, the same 100hp engine. I can't get the consumption under 7 liters, also I sometimes notice white smoke from the pipe. Do you think I should take it to service?
Yes.
Definitely, smoke could be burning oil, in a turbo engine this can cause expensive problems.
White smoke is completely normal especially on colder days.
I still haven't driven one, it's a good looking car. Shame there's such a push on EV models
I drove a clio 4 and it is a very nice, agile city car. Aldough that car had 75hp but it is ok, for a normal city drive. I own now a megane 4 and if you have to choose between these two, you wont miss with either. Megane 4 does have more querks than clio but it has its pluses.

I cannot figure out why it is so difficult for the manufacturers to install a button to the steering wheel so you could check the location of/ the distance to the car behind you while you're driving forward yourself.

You switch it once and it will allways be on when you open boot.

Yes. But different to what you may have seen in the early press videos.

Handling bette than Renault please do your research first, evry generation of megane and clips have nurburgring records fiesta has never set a record on the nurburgring

That’s a performance model, not a normal one, Fiestas are the best handling little cars out there next to Minis
drove the new fiesta, it's garbage, nothing is even close to new Clio V, Fiesta's handling is a joke, completely artificial

Regarding the boot space. 99% of manufacturers measure using VDA: "Calculating the volume of the boot space is done by literally filling it with one-litre blocks measuring 200mm x 50mm x 100mm. The amount of those blocks that can fit inside the boot at one time is the VDA number". In this case Renault says it's 340. Which looking at the actual boot i find strange. The Ibiza's boot looks bigger and it's 350. Apparently Renault also measured using some "Fluid" test and came to 390 liters. Yes, it makes sense that it's more than with VDA, but less practical test and also gives a customer the idea that you don't actually need a compact segment car like i30 or Golf.
I know how the VDA testing is performed, and I do not expect VDA test to match a standard measuring type + calculator test. However the Clio boot volume comes out to be 300 litres at best, so even 340 VDA would be exaggerated.
