Lovely. Love you ma'am for your recipes. Due to idli dosa , I at times feel like shifting to South India permanently... but then chaat , & golgappe stop my feet. Can't live without them either... but with your recipes I shall make dosa, idli staple food of my house.

Hi Mme I've been watchling Gita's Kitchen since last year. I'm originally from Kerala and now resides in USA. Your cooking show resembles the way my mom and my grandmother used to cook. Two days ago, I prepared the 2 in 1 Dosa batter using Urad dal and rava. I did add one additional ingredient to the recipe; fenugreek seeds. The batter came out good after 12 hr fermentation. It's winter time where I live. I had dosa for two days in a row. Thank you for a great recipe and I shall continue to watch your TH-cam videos. I have to say that your video program is unpretentious.

Hi Gita, these type of idlis my mother used to make on festival days,as we won't eat rice on such days . U can make little thick dosas.what we GSB s do is pour a little oil on the tava, when it's hot add a few mustard seeds, when they splutter add dosa batter ,little thick dosa like adai .Add some more oil and cook both sides .Tastes heavenly

Aunti! I did it! I finally got the correct consistency for idli batter - I always added too much water.... Anyway, I came across a video where the rice, dal and fenugreek were finely ground - the video creater used her coffee grinder on the finest setting. To make idli or dosa, she added water. At that point, the choice was to let it ferment or to use Eno powder. I prefer letting the batter ferment, but its nice to have a choice. What do you think of that idea? For a single person, such as myself, this appeals to me because the smallest amount of batter I can make in my grinder is 1 cup of dal and 2 or 3 cups of rice, which makes a lot of batter! If I could grind the dry ingredients and then make just as much as I needed, that would be great. I love idli, but idli every day is a lot of idli.... I would love your input. Thank you!
