Obviously that's very subjective lol, he's entertaining I must admit..
Depends what you're into though, whether it's just parts fitting, fitting stock parts to stock cars or fabrication, modification, or just pure entertainment or restoration, there's plenty out there though.
Another good but a little different channel is Greasy Fingers, restores Porsches and others, does metal fab etc…very detailed.

Honestly there can’t be a better automotive channel on the TH-cam. So many channels start out great and then go with content and extra people that very truly is not funny. Love your humour and your get down to business style.

There are only about 8(?) auto channels on all of YT I'm subscribed to for this very reason. Most of the content on YT, the "automotive passion" begins and ends with attempting to generate clicks, and it shows. I don't care about watching some millionaire flex his 2023 special edition exotic whatever that he'll drive twice (for content!) and flip in 9 months. I don't care about some random car's "first wash in 37 years!!!" and I don't care about some idiot trying to limp a piece of junk 5,000 miles home. The minute someone tells me to "smash that like button," I'm out.
On the other hand, I will support channels like M539, 19Bozzy92, Restore It, RRC Restoration, Noriyaro, Tyrrell's Classic Workshop, etc. as much as I can because the content is based on legitimate passion, each video is meaningful, and the subject matter is educational/enlightening/legitimately interesting. No hype, no BS, no fake drama, no filler, no clickbait.

It's a good job this dropped over lunchtime otherwise this afternoon's Zoom sessions might have experienced 'networking issues'.

That's how you set apart the average mechanic from a great one that loves what he is doing, it's the little things than combine in the end and truly make a difference. That's i watch your content Sreten.
Everybody talks about upgrading ECUs and turbos, but this is the stuff I love to see; upgraded valve stem seals and thermostat. I don't know why, I just find it so amazing that users noticed all of this stuff and thought of making it better than the factory did. Love your work, man!
What a shame BMW uses cheap parts for a popular brand they sell
Lovely, did this job many times on Volvo 5 cylinder engines. Used the same kind of toolset you used and compressed air. Works flawlessly. My tool was based on a lever kind of system though, the screw down system you're using looks very nice! Good job.
bad valve stem seals in volvo 5 cylinders are a common thing

Never had bad stem seals had 4 p2, p1 Volvos more like pcv and turbo line's
These videos are great!! I have decided not to be intimidated and do the valve adjustment and Vanos service on my S54 M3. Already did the oil pan gasket and LOTS of other work so no reason not to do everything myself even though the garage is barely larger than the size of the car hahha.
Just take your time and use proper tools. It might take a while, but it's not rocket science after all.
Maybe you can find a service manual online also.
Sreten deserves all the follows and views- dude is funny, thorough and his content has only improved. My whole fam watches and promotes channel. It's an absolute must for anyone who loves cars, but especially for those that love BMW

@@nemanjap8768 nope so when fist engine blew up who pays for that certainly not the customer and taking weeks to do jobs is not what happens in real garages you would have 1 day to assemble that engine and another day to have the car running not 2 weeks so it's not yhe same

My experience w this engine:
Oil leaks (valve, timing, alternator bracket)
Valve stem seals (not every time but probably every one eventually)
Tranny solenoids and the other seals inside
Valeo alternator will need replacement
Expansion tank hose between heads
Definitely other stuff.
Chirping tensioner
Water pump and cooling pipe leaks
Periodic intake manifold failures
Water flange in back of engine (transmission out)
Hopefully Sreten got it cheap. This is alpina part 2. His girlfriend is going to be calling when its shit the bed on the roadside.
To minimize that call I'd change the expansion tank hose, alternator and upper radiator hose at a minimum
The technical skills of this guy are simply incredible but I especially appreciate the fact that he cares a lot about the cleaning of every part that he disassembles and reassembles. Keep it up.

Exactly what what I did when I found his channel late in 2020. "okay one more, it's not that late...it's not that late" (uses t.v. remote to stir coffee)

For future reference, there's a service function in ISTA and most scan tools (Autel/Autologic/etc) to set the Valvetronic actuators to a "removal position." It's not absolutely necessary, but it will keep the actuators from snapping out like that and can prevent any potential damage- I have seen damaged Valvetronic actuators from improper removal.
BMW really ought to be paying Sreten very handsomely for providing these superb training videos for their dealership mechanics.
You sir deserve a medal of bravery for doing that job with the engine inside the vehicle. Well done

Sreten is the only restorer in the world of restoration that cleans a dirty engine bay before working on it. He should teach a thing or two to any mechanic in the world
Best birthday present for Sreten: very strong magnet on a long bendable stick. :) (best present for all that do stuff with engines and drop tools, bolts etc, even if most are not as good as Sreten)
You make great BMW content. Till just 5-6 year ago it was my favorite brand as well, but not anymore. I salute you having so much patience with these cars. The camera work/editing is top notch this episode. You have a God's touch when working with all types of bmws. I'm kind of hoping for fun when you have extra time, that you may work a bmw motorcycle. I'm really interested to see how you would tackle one of those.

As a fellow N63 owner I recommend, getting 2 bottles of “Liqui Moly Motor Oil Saver”. I tried to put the link, but it deleted my comment…so just get it from Amazon or eBay. Should be 2 for $20-$25
Mine use to occasionally smoke also, until I used that. It rejuvenates the valve stem seals & any other rubber in the engine. $25 versus $3k for the valve stem seal job lol

I hate you. You have given me hope that my BMW(s) could possibly someday run flawlessly without a check engine light, oil leak, transmission problem, random "module" or sensor failure, on and on and on. I tell my mechanic: "but Sreten has a perfectly running e65". They just laugh.at me. Make it stop ! ... Honestly, I can't stop watching. You are very entertaining and your meticulous restorations contrasted against your flippant sense of humor is what keeps us all coming back for more. Last summer I spent almost a week trying remove that valve cover. Later found another video has a good tip: disconnect the DME cable. Next time I will disconnect the coolant lines and fuel line at the right side too. It seems so much easier. If this video was there last year, it would make my life so much easier.
I spent my childhood watching my father rip apart Chevy big blocks and do frame up rebuilds. Back then, I was way too young to be intrigued and yet recall I was.
Watching all of this, I’m still stymied by the possibility of risk- forgetting something, all of this positioning of this and that. Where is that insight best found? Beyond trial and error, where do you DIY’ers gain this insight? I would have no idea what to do with these specialty tool kits. It’s sobering and yet exhilarating to watch. If a piece breaks I’d be at a loss.
I’m about to do the oil filter housing/oil cooler job on an F15 but I know the oil pan job and the valve cover job are forthcoming. At 80k, I’m anticipating a lot of work to bullet proof the car for the next 5-6 years.
Watching this job, at least for me is next level and I’m humbled by the skill and execution.

@@Leonardo555ZZZ Every engine from the last 5-10 years is really complicated, as more parts for better fuel economy, performance and exhaust gas cleaning are added
@@emrefifty5281 Sure , but these cars are 15 years old , and I doubt you can find any other makes which are more complicated and require more components to be removed in order to perform repairs and maintenance than BMW's.
@@Leonardo555ZZZ I mean, the other german manufacturers’ engines probably had very complex engines too at that time, luxury cars always have many sensors and electronics in there.
@@BorisG13 Yeah , could well be ,,I don't know too much about Audi , VW ,, but Mercedes engines from the same time seem to be much easier to work on than BMW in my opinion.
I don't even have a E70 but love the X5 with V8s, so much that I saw the whole series of this project. Thumbs up man!

This is a heart surgeon at work - I could just sit and watch in that workshop all day everyday so fascinating. Mind you I’d shit myself doing work at this level and the Haynes manual with terrible photos would just say as usual ‘reassembly is the reverse of disassembly’ lol. 😂

Everytime I lost a Tool or a Screw in the depth I was so worried if I am even worth to work at this engine when it was the very last 10mm socket in my workcase...
But as your teaser shows it can make you crazy working "on" it

I did an engine removal and reinstall on an E53 X5, 4.4. What a job,especially with no hoist. The V8 is actually 'nested' on the power steering rack, so when lifting the engine, it has to rocked,jiggled and shook to get it un-nest itself.
Im pretty sure you are probably the best mechanic on earth! I would love for you to overhaul my e93 m3! Amazing work 👍👍👍👍

I'm marking this job up as one I will never do...ever. Changed the valve cover gaskets last winter and vowed never to go that far again. Wound up having the camshaft sensor concentric break and having to replace that as well, so it was a $750 gasket change.
You deserve an Emmy for this performance. Absolutely fascinating and such deft work, and thank you so much for the explanation of what you’re doing!
