I like how you used the wood filler to make that rough look. It's brilliant! When I can sneak away from my little ones (I have six by the way 😊) I am definitely coming to you to get ideas for my fairy house!!! I can't wait so in the meantime I will binge watch your videos 👍😁
six!! Yikes, I have half that. My last 2 are just a year apart. I used to craft from 7:30 at night until wee hours of the morning, taking FULL advantage of their sleep time lol Now they are teens so it's all changed for me but I do remember those days well. Have fun with your fairy house when you get a chance to start. Keep me posted if you can, I'd love to hear updates.
I prefer to build with materials easily found in the home so anyone can make them too. Not all of us have wood laying around when we're suddenly inspired to build something. If I wanted perfect I would have bought a dollhouse kit but then that's no fun.
absolutely! Wood is restrictive unless you're skilled in working with it. I can do basic cutting but I find it difficult. Many years ago I looked for tutorials on dollhouse miniatures and most all I found were done with wood but I had no wood or skill, lol It was frustrating. That's the reason I ventured into this type of building, it's gave me freedom to be creative.
Where The Gnomes Live fortunately for me I do have the skills for wood...I’m an experienced cabinet maker/joiner for my sins lol...but I also appreciate that not everyone has any woodworking skills. But I still prefer to get back to basics with paper, cardboard & PVA glue. If anyone does want a little bit of wood in their work, you can buy packs of thin balsa wood from Amazon. Then all you really need is Mitre box and a ‘Gents Saw’ (or similar small fine toothed saw). But even thin Balsa wood can be cut using a craft knife.
ohhh that's awesome! I'm in awe of those skilled in woodworking. So many beautiful things can be made. My Dad has the skills, he build houses and furniture and I will regret forever that I never took the time to learn from him. I have saved some thin wood from orange crates, and from an old couch we threw out, lol I could see I'll be able to cut it with an x-acto knife. I'll think of something to make with it! One day you'll see that video up, one day ;)
That was a gift to me but after reading your comment I went a looked at it, and I can replicate it for sure. It would be fun! I'll see if I can over these next few days..
