Could be a good plane with a modern, efficient and Jet-A/SAF ready engine! That Cirrus presented the G7 still equipped with an about 100 years old thirsty and leadhungry engine just fit for the next best museum is a joke to me.
@@LuiKast The CD-300 cannot provide 300 hp continuously, only for 5 minutes. Max continuous is 270 hp. In the total package it is also heavier than the IO-550. The Continental and Lycoming gas engines are remarkably old technology, but considering cost, weight, fuel economy, reliability, etc... there are no good alternatives at this time.
@@FLYERTV Yes, there is, just go to the Diamond Aircraft booth and have a look at the Continental CD-300 - it burns Jet-A or maybe SAF in the future and half the amount compared to the engine carbon dated around the stone age that hides in one of the new G7 from Cirrus. Sorry, this „new“ plane for leaded fuel was definitely the beste Aero joke this year. 🤣🤣🤣
@@LuiKast Yes I have much experience with the DA Diesel engines. They have 12 batteries if I remember correctly and no magnetos, I'll take the tried and true conventional pistol engine any day of the week. Not to mention most mechanics have not a clue about servicing Diamond aircraft engines.
@@LuiKastare you familiar with their issues and lack of parts? Lots of Diamond owners bailing on those aircraft because of the engine reliability issues.
Lovely aeroplane for sure - I might just be old school but having back up instruments that are just more electronic displays doesn't fill me with confidence....I want steam backup!
Why? “Steam” gauges have more failure modes than electronic instruments, because they are mechanical with many moving parts. They are also less precise. Electronic backups have independent air data sources and power sources. Far superior to antiquated “steam” gauges.
Why? More prone to failure. More required maintenance. Weighs more. Zero benefits. All negatives. I prefer reading the newspaper on paper more than on my iPad. But some things are better with electronics.

There are no 315hp alternatives at the moment
@@FLYERTV There is: Coninental CD-300 - works good for Diamond. 15 hp more ore less is irrelevant.

I remember when you used to had to fly an aeroplane 🥱
And then we look at the engine under the hood. 1930’s technology lots of heavy metal bits slapping around in oil.
No other options if you need/want 315hp…
