    this was a really interesting video to me, not necessarily because I’m interested in skateboard manufacturing, but because I don’t know a lot about how the shape of a board effects how the skateboard rides. You really do have a wealth of knowledge of skateboarding, and you communicate it really well without being condescending. Thanks for the video!

    Yay, new video from the old ripper 😂 Big fan of your skating! I think the real secret to your channel is that you come across as humble and sincere, and that is very rare to find. Most youtubers try to portray themselves sort of like a rock star or something... When I watch your videos it's like if you were a good old friend, not a cringy wannabe superskater.

    Great skating! I'm hyped to get back on my board. Had to take a break for a few months due to non skate related elbow injury but I'm about healed up now. Late 30s here and I know the feeling of slowly getting your skate legs back after a hiatus but it's so worth it. Keep up the great vids

    nice switch kickflip back tail! saw the reg and i was like oh nice i need to get back to trying those again and then i saw you trying it switch and was like no way and then you got it! love your vids, you’re always so consistent with your flip tricks! regular and switch both look really good and natural!

    I ended up picking up a Program 40 Something Skulls 8.25 deck, which is apparently made by Clutch. I’m using it with Thunder 148 high lights, 1/8” risers, and 56mm G-Slides. I’ve been skating it a couple of times a week for about a month and I love it. Great, long-lasting pop, great shape, and the graphic is even holding up really well to boardslides. Honestly, I think I’m just going to get another one when I wear this one out.

    • @bendegros
      @bendegros  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought my Program deck was really good. It wasn't my shape but it was good quality.

      I hear that skate warehouse uses clutch for their blanks. But that's just internet rumors from slap. You wouldn't be able to buy them individually. They would have a very large minimum order.

    Ben I just got some Caliber Standard Trucks, they are a bit lose for my taste, nothing bushing can't fix. But, they do have 4 holes so you can shorten or length your base by a bit. I am liking them quite a bit. But, I also heard Grind King is coming back. I am do like this woodshop reviews it's give a solid basis to cover certain aspect of entire lines of skateboards. Keep it up man.

    • @bendegros
      @bendegros  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 4 holes for wheelbase is genius! The only problem would be if your goldilocks zone was right in between the two!

    I wonder what and where I can get a fairly priced good quality board in Vancouver..

    • @bendegros
      @bendegros  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could try out Fun in the Sun on west 4th for decks and trucks. They are a discount place that sells the old stock for those bigger board places on 4th and burrard. Just don't buy it if it is girl or chocolate. Those are really old decks that mush out.

    • @iambeetle
      @iambeetle 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ben Degros thanks so much! I will definitely check it out, which brand in that shop would you recommend for a newbie who is probably only gonna practice ollie on this deck?

    • @bendegros
      @bendegros  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly, anything would be fine in that case. If your just starting out you won't notice the deck going soggy or have it affect you much. I would just buy a shape, size and graphic you like. Chocolate or Girl would be totally adequate.

    SSKFBSTS!!!! So sick Ben!

  • @loveskatemag3066
    @loveskatemag3066 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    sick! I've always felt less scary to try kick backtail than regular backtail. and I've never landed or slide a regular backtail in 30 years, but did few a with kickflip in. Skateboarding is weird some times to make simple thing really hard, and thing really complicated ,simpler that it looks.
    Another great video! keep it up.

    • @bendegros
      @bendegros  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have always been better at them switch than regular but haven't been at a level where I felt comfortable trying them again until now. The hardest part is keeping your footing until you get there. If I am stable riding up I stand a chance. I ride fairly loose trucks for a technical guy so tricks where I am in switch flip position riding up are the hardest to stay steady.

    Dude i jumped up out of my chair so stoked on that switch flip back tail !!! So gnarly man. I really like steep concave on my decks but cant seem to find one that has the perfect concave i need. Where do i go for one of those??

    • @bendegros
      @bendegros  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Real has some pretty steep concaves. Also a little secret about deluxe decks. Many of them have a roman numeral stamped on the top of the deck between the front bolts. This is for the order they are pressed in in the stack. Skateboards are pressed in stacks of 5. The top decks have the steepest concave. So you would want to try to find a 1.
