Me too! I had the ramp launcher and motorcycle with the zip pull to get the wheel going. My parents didn't have the money for the Matell RV, but my cousin had one and we would jump the cycles over the RV with the included ramp.
@@johncooper7663 what a legend Mr Knievel was . Unfortunately he became better known for his crashes than the actual stunts . We as fans had to wait longer and longer for his bones to heal before we got to see another stunt ! The guys that do it today use light weight bikes , Evel used Harleys !

Evil is and was my hero from sense I was a small child. I realize now the guy had no technique at all. It was go as fast as ya can off a ramp and hope for the best most of the time! Great fun.

Growing up in the 70s I got my first dirt bike at age 11 xr 75. All the kids in the neighborhood wanted to be Bruce Jenner. Not me i wanted to be MR Robert Craig knievel. I would setup ramps and fly through the air. A couple of broken bones here and there but it was great. Definitely one of the coolest guys that ever lived. Sorry but I have to throw this in. Like TRUMP definitely the coolest president in my life time. Now back to stuff shirts.

The 2 stroke racing dirt bikes didn't get long travel suspensions till 1977 or 1978. By then EK was done jumping. He could have jumped slightly further on a 1971 to 1976 dirt bike, buy in that era their was not a big suspension advantage dirt bikes had over the XR 750. Harley spent the money to sponsor him, that promoted his fame, not likely any of the Japanese manufacturers would have sponsored EK.
