This is really sad to see I grew up and was raised in New Smyrna for 25 years back in the '80s one of the best places on Earth the reason it is so bad now is because all the dunes have been washed away by hurricane Ian, there used to be two double sets of Dunes, I went through many hurricanes down there from the mid-70s all the way up to the 90s and never seen water and title surges so big what people don't understand is those Dunes can never be replaced ever again like they were it was a natural buffer everybody stay safe🙏💔

I live in nsb ocean side in a condo, I lost electric so I didn't know what was going on. During Ian, I tried to drive a1a to get to my sister's house she had electric. I ran into major water and luckily turned around. When Nicole hit I was afraid to drive a1a. My sister in st Charles Missouri was watching the video of you driving in nsb, she kept me up to date in terms of damage and told me you drove down a1a, she recognized the area and because of you she saw there was not a lot of water, so I was able to go to my sister who had electric. Thank you so much!

NSB is actually on the east coast of Florida so it’s off of the Atlantic and not the Gulf of Mexico. We have had several hurricanes here but Ian and Nicole were two of the worst hurricanes. I live about 4 miles from the beach and until we had Hurricane Ian we never had flooding like with Ian. We didn’t have any flooding with Nicole thankfully. You can have flooding anywhere! NSB is a very nice little town. Just wish it wasn’t so touristy.

Already uninhabitable - but humans are short-sided and stubborn. My mom lived out her retirement in NSB until she passed in 2012. The big storms were just starting to pile up and it scared her to death. The Breakers was our favorite lunch hangout. This storm would have broken her heart for good.
