  • Andiamo in Campania series has returned!
We went to Naples again in April 2023, as we enjoyed our trip to Campania last year so much.
In this episode, I will show you one of the best day trips from Naples that doesn't involve a ferry - the Royal Palace of Caserta.
Reggia di Caserta, or in English The Royal Palace of Caserta, is a magnificent 18th-century palace built for the Bourbon kings of Naples. It was designed by architect Luigi Vanvitelli and is considered one of the largest palaces in Europe, featuring 1,200 rooms, 34 staircases, and a vast garden with fountains and cascades. It is probably as beautiful as Versailles!
The palace's interior is adorned with stunning Baroque and Neoclassical art and architecture.
Today, the palace is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a popular tourist attraction, offering visitors a glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of the Bourbon monarchs.
The palace has also been used by various movies as a film location - the Star Wars Episode 1 the Phantom Menace and Episode 2 Attack of the Clones, Angels and Demons, as well as Mission Impossible 3.

There's something, anything better than the art and culture made by such prestigious and famous artists?
Since the foundation of Rome, Italy was always the craddle of arts and culture. For what concerns the most high and noble activities of humankind, Rome and Italy are indeed the center of the world.

Wow. That’s a long time ago. But I suspect it hasn’t changed much.

Thank you for posting. It is interesting to see a non Westerner give his take on Europe.

Nice video man, would like to ask for some advice. Due to trip plans, I estimate that I will arrive at the palace around 3pm, should I buy tickets in advance (park + apartment), or is the queue dying down by that time?

If it’s a busy day, tickets could be sold out by then. So it makes sense to buy it online before. However 3 pm is rather late. You just need 3 hours just for the park. Ideally you allocate a whole day for this.

@@KenTravels360 thank you for ur swift and useful reply. Sadly, its either this or we won’t get to go at all on this trip :(

Is it feasible to cut down the park to 2 hrs and maybe the appartment 1h30 min? We dont have to see it all

@@dhaamd.slayer5025 I think you have to decide for yourself if you want to squash everything in. We actually decided against doing it on a previous trip as we didn't have enough time to do it. So, you could try to rush, but you may end up unsatisfied.

You could take the shuttle bus to get to the other side of the garden, but walking at least one way is recommended to see all the fountains in detail.
And then if you come on a busy day, there is a queue to get into the Royal Apartments. We had to wait 40 minutes just to get in.
If I were you, I'd save that for another trip. As it stands, you would also be missing out the Court Theatre too.
