Should I have used the chrome or not? What would you have done?

I just finished mine and built it using your tips and wow it came out beautiful thank you for all the great tips love your model building channel lots of great tips tricks ideas and ways to get a better model. My paint job using my discounted model masters spray cans came out like glass. I got about 120 cans of different colors clears and clear metallics for 4 cents a piece from local hobby town discontinued these paints so now I have body paint for life lol

Yay for the white, but the attention to detail adding some colour to make them look used is 👌

Weathering isn't something I often go for but I thought it was right for this.

I have been wanting to add a cobra to my build list and this looks like a keeper. Inspiring and a fantastic build.

Thanks a lot! It's probably the most detailed 1/24ish Cobra kit out there and the Cartograf decals are top notch!

Well done test pilot, looks really lovely. Not started mine yet but this series is definitely going to help when I do. Thank very much for leading the way.

Thanks a lot! As soon as I realised that no one had built this on TH-cam I wanted to! Good luck on yours - I look forward to seeing your progress!

I think that you should have used at least the chrome wheels. Otherwise this is something that anyone would be proud of. Very interesting. I'm glad to see that someone other than me appreciates this car and is willing to share it with the rest of the world. Thank you once again.

Thank you for watching. I thought long and hard about which wheels to use but I had problems with painting some parts of the chrome. Still, you can always use those if you make one! 👍

Yeah that is nicely done. It looks spectacular. Thank you very much for sharing your experience and advice building this kit. I have it and thanks to you it doesn't seem so intimidating as it did at first.
It always helps to watch someone else build it first. Subscribed to your channel because of the little things you did to use regular household products to ultimately create a masterpiece. Right up my alley as the saying goes. I'm not a big fan of buying the details when you can be much more innovative and find things to make use of what you probably have lying about your home. Although for such a beautiful car as this, I wouldn't be opposed to spending a little cash on some of the extra details such as the headlight bulbs. Very nice work.

I don't know if it was in the rules or it was the lenght of the track, but Le Mans cars (at least until the early 1970's) had a spare wheel onboard !
The Ford GT40's had one and so had the Porsche 917. So it wasn't a bad idea to give the Shelby one!

    • @BOABModels
      @BOABModels  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I didn't know that! A couple of the rally cars I've built have spare wheels but this time I wanted to make use of the extra storage.

I watched all the videos, but I think I missed the part where you painted the body. Did you use an airbrush? I'm sorry, but the result wasn't what I expected. I thought you would use paint and masking to create the line in front of the car instead of using a sticker. It looks too artificial, especially the dashboard. I haven't opened the box yet, and I'm considering returning it. I like Shelby Cobras as classic cars, but I realized I don't like them covered in cheap stickers to look like racing cars.

Thomas great build again. Not your fault but the wheels are too far out of the body. My advice with Revell and Italeri (Esci) always dry test-fit the wheels with the body on, so you can see how it will look in the end. BTW that blue is too light for the A110. Happy modelling.

    • @BOABModels

I agree with the wheels and noticed it too. The kit has metal axles so what I could have done is filed them down a bit.
The blue is the colour recommended by Tamiya in their kits but maybe a grey primer instead of white would darken it a little?
      Thanks for watching.

@@BOABModels Yes Thomas you are right. Heller says 52 which is the same as for the Heller Impreza's. For my judgement it's something between these 2. I don't know when they came up with this but Tamiya now has a special spraycan called
"A110 Alpine Blue'' . Tamiya 89822 (so not a TS-.. number) If you want to check: spotmodel.com search for A110. Thanks for responding and if you use TS-54 that's not a bad color.

@@edak482 I would say that the Alpine blue is lighter than Subaru as well. I may have a look for the Alpine blue can though, thanks!
