- The San Diego Fire Department rescued a girl stuck inside the sand in Mission Beach.
First responders arrived at Mission Beach at around 4:50 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon. A crowd of beachgoers watched over San Diego Fire-Rescue personnel as they dug into the sand attempting to rescue the girl stuck underneath.

Interesting. I saw a video from Brazil from 2022 showing a girl drown in a small pool that had 6 other people in it. Then a few days ago in las vegas a 56 year old woman drowned in a community pool that had multiple people in it and multiple people sitting outside of it. This one had a lifeguard that for 5 minutes or more wasn't present and didn't see the lady drowning.
At what point does the life gaurds say, hey burying yourself alive is forbidden?🙄
@Shymeen44 In my opinion, based on my conversations with them and from what I've seen them doing, they don't feel compelled to provide free advice to the ignorant, and they only spring into action when a red alert happens. They watch the water vigilantly from the towers, and there are usually 2-3 per tower about 500 yards or so apart. This time of year, there are hundreds of people on the beach. There are rules posted everywhere, but just like with speed limit signs, a percentage of the population doesn't think the rules apply to them.

i was there, she was making a hole with her friends and it collapsed trapping her. Im a little disappointed the helicopter was just recording, I thought it was a airlift smh.

@@MrWazyF- I figured that’s what happened.. unbelievable that parents haven’t learned not to allow this anymore… AND the lifeguard on duty!
@@Winnas The City of SD probably needs to post warning signs about the hazards of tunneling and digging in the sand. Post the signs in Spanish, as well.

Oh my gosh. People! Don’t dig holes deponer than the knees of the shortest person playing in it. That’s the rule I learned after hearing about these stories!
I been hearing about these sand sink holes more often.
Let's get something straight. These aren't "sand sink holes". These are holes that people dig. I'm on the beach every week and see these idiots bringing their garden shovels and digging these massive holes, allowing their kids to play in them, then leaving the beach and their giant holes (and usually a lot of garbage) behind. They are even digging tunnels into the ledges and letting their kids crawl inside. I tell the lifeguards, and they basically say you can't fix stupid. Survival of the fittest, I guess.

@MsLhuntMartinez79 I'm glad you think so. The attitudes at the beaches I go to in Southern California have really changed over the last few years. There are pretty much two types of people out there, and it's pretty obvious. There are respectful people that come to enjoy the nice beach and not destroy it, leaving it the way they found it, and there are people who apparently think it's all about them. They bring glass bottles that break, leaving broken glass. *No bottles are allowed on the beach. They bring dogs on beaches where no dogs are allowed, and some even walk away from the poop. They bring food and drink and leave trash everywhere, which washes into the ocean. I'm now finding vape pens and drug needles. These giant holes are simply selfish disregard for others, and it's getting worse. There is no funding for enforcement. That's what it boils down to. Maybe the media should start making Public Service Announcements.
@PorchTea I really hope something gets done. We went to Huntington Beach this past April. It blew my mind! Yall have MOUNTAINS on your beach!! That's not even fair, lol. The weather was warm and cold while the water was freezing. There was someone with a sign that said "Need Money for Wexd" 😆 I respect his honesty. I really did enjoy the beaches. ~Love from Texas

Amazing! These first responders and everyone involved work efficiently and never stopped. Did you also notice after she was safely out those same men quickly filled that hole so no one else got hurt again? They had to be so tired afterwards. Bravo!

She was either buried in the sand too well, or the sand she stepped on was too hollow and collapsed underneath her.

They need to start enforcing fines. Enforce it to $100-$200 fine. I was at the beach when two children in Fort Lauderdale FL were trapped. Only one made it home that day. This is getting ridiculous.
