      Pretty normal. I thought it was established ages ago that it's due to her singing skills and the fact that her mom is a English tutor.

    • @sonny9511

      @@AndersHass doesn't matter whether her mother is an english tutor or not. Her mother is fluent in English and for sure tried to teach Suisei some English. And her singing helped her in pronunciation, not the other way around. It's obviously a necessity to have good intonation when you're a good singer, which she is, therefore she has good intonation. This helped her with pronouncing English words despite not being good in English.

    One of the reasons I love this channel is that you typically clip things WITH ALL OF THEIR CONTEXT! I've been seeing this Suisei saying that she wants to talk to Gura clip all over and I couldn't understand why she wouldn't simply want to have an EN member like Ina or IryS or Bae translate for her. Your video, however, has given me the missing context that she wants to speak with members who don't also speak Japanese so that she's forced to speak English with them instead of defaulting to Japanese! It makes perfect sense from this perspective and I agree that Gura would be a decent enough choice as she knows a little bit of Japanese but not enough to be conversational much in the same way as Suisei and they could work together to bridge that gap and both improve in the process.

    from what i know, japanese schools have horrible 2nd language classes.

  • @lyconxero457
    @lyconxero457 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I don't know how they're structured in Japanese schools but the language classes that I took in High School were absolutely horrible and a complete waste of time. First of all, I went to public school so Spanish was the only option which would've been fine because I wanted to learn how to speak it anyway. Unfortunately, even after taking Spanish class FOR 4 BLOODY YEARS and getting an A every single year I currently can't speak any Spanish whatever aside from hello, goodbye, and can I go to the bathroom. The entire system is a complete joke which even younger me felt at the time because we NEVER ENGAGED IN TRUE CONVERSATION!!! Like, how are you supposed to learn a language if you don't have actual conversations with it that relate to normal life? The main thing I remember doing in those classes was an absolute crap ton of rote memorization for vocabulary tests which I promptly forgot as well as some grammar tests which I've also forgotten. It really sucks too because IMMEDIATELY AFTER high school I started running into countless situations where being able to speak Spanish would have been super useful. Not only that but there have been several job opportunities which I would have gotten paid more money for simply for being able to speak Spanish. I'm still salty about the sad state of our education system to this day.

    • @majesticfox
      @majesticfox ปีที่แล้ว

      All highschool material was just a baseline knowledge one need to live, or to learn further in a more specific topic. From where I am, english is a 3rd language. High school english was literally just bare bone basic so you could learn more through other media like tv shows, news, movies, games, etc. My english proficiency was thanks to the fact that all media that I consume was in written or spoken english. Compared to my peers that never consume english media they can barely even comprehend simple movie sentences, even though their english grade is passable. But what's true is that, spoken proficiency is entirely different. You basically had to have someone willing to speak that language to you all the time, which many just don't have the fortune of. And 3-6 years of constant practice of that is impossible for a 2nd or 3rd language in a school frame.

      The thing about language learning is that it's not something you do once or twice a week. It has to become a lifestyle. You have to do it everyday, just like you do with your native language. School is pretty useless, true, that's why you gotta do it yourself. I managed to reach native-like english because I changed everything I used to watch to english content. Now I'm doing the same for japanese (reading/watching with no subs or jp subs) and I'm sure that if I keep at that for 2-3 more years, I'll reach a level good enough to hold a long conversation. I highly recommend the immersion approach from Refold if you want to know more, that's the best way to learn a language in my honest opinion.
      Luckly for Spanish you got El Poderoso Hakka Banzoin to learn from.

    • @Nowolf
      @Nowolf ปีที่แล้ว

      As mentioned, no "1hour, three times a week" class will teach you a language by itself. If you don't use it beyond classroom hours, you won't get anywhere.
      You were, presumably, in a classroom full of other people. No one was actually stopping you from having conversations in Spanish outside of class...
