I had a very similar journey. Atheism>hedonism>nihilism> existentialism>”spiritual” psychedelic worship>Buddhism and stoicism>Christianity. Great testimony man!
lol the craziest conversion story that I've ever heard. 2 nights ago I was wondering if I should start praying the rosary again. When I went to bed I was tossing and turning for 2 hours. I prayed half a decade and passed out. The next day I prayed the rosary before work and had a conversation with a co worker about God. Today I'm listening to your video and it reminds me of the lightning strike when you woke up. I need to pray the rosary every day now. This is what God wants.
@dwong, thanks for sharing your story! So great to be able to put a face to the voice and name. Pursuit of truth. “And the truth shall set you free.” Welcome home my brother. P.S. my twin brother and sister know exactly about the dream in a dream in a dream. With a shadowy figure.
sadly your background is very relatable. i too was dumb and got into psychedelics and was hoping they'd "fix" me, and ultimately I was always reaching for God when I was trying drugs even though I didn't fully recognize it at the time.
As someone who returned to the faith in 2021 after 20+ years of being a lost sinner, I have a story as well regarding lightning. One early morning in October 2021, I found a rosary given to my son by my sister (a nun) and I began to pray it for the first time since I was in my teens. I will never forget breaking down in tears (I rarely ever cry) without any reason other than feeling so many different emotions. Now whether by pure coincidence or not, it had just begun to rain as I commenced praying and as I uncontrollably began to sob even harder, the rain came down even heavier. I felt like the rain was in sync with my crying. As I was getting closer to the end of the rosary, the story of the prodigal son was in my head, and I had a sense of confidence that I wasn't going to go back to my old life anymore. As I finished, something happened which just blew me away. As I finished on the last word of prayer, I heard the first strike of thunder which was so loud and long that it felt like it was never going to end. I can't describe that moment other than being in awe and resolving within myself a firm commitment to come back to God. I guess even if the weather events were pure co-incidence or not, it doesn't matter as I have never looked back since that morning. God bless you for your incredible testimony.
Wow thank you for sharing that amazing story. None of that is coincidence, it’s all in God’s Providence. God uses nature, history, and time to foreshadow and reveal things to us about Himself, ourselves, and our relationship to Him. What a wonderful grace you received. Stay close to the Rosary 🙏 God bless!

@@CatholicDwong in my youth I also had a desire for divine guidance which I unadvisably sought for through substances and asking the spirits for guidance. my path was more circuitous due to my unworthiness but it wasn't long after God put it in my heart to become Christian.
I got confirmed on March 6th before the rest of my RCIA class. And I believed when I was confirmed. The following Sunday the rest of the class got confirmed. Hey Dwong, it's been a while since we last spoke. Good to see that you're still here with us for now. I've got a question about the light of Jesus' transfiguration at Mount Tabor. The consensus of the eastern fathers seems to be that the light is uncreated. The Catholic encyclopedia says this on the "transfiguration" article, “This dazzling brightness which emanated from His whole Body was produced by an interior shining of His Divinity.” George Leo Haydock, an English Catholic priest from the 18th and 19th centuries wrote a commentary on the Douay-Rheims bible. In his commentary on Matthew 17:2, he wrote this: "Matthew 17: Ver. 2. Transfigured. Let no one think that he changed his natural form, laying aside his corporeal, and assuming a spiritual form; but when the evangelist says his countenance shone like the sun, and describes the whiteness of his garments, he shews in what the transfiguration consisted. He added to his former appearance splendour and glory, but laid not aside his substance. ... The Lord was transfigured into that glory with which he will appear again at the day of judgment, and in his kingdom. (St. Jerome) --- Calvin translates metamorphousthai, transformed, but contrary to the sentiment of the holy fathers. He did not shew them his divinity, which cannot be seen by the eyes of the body, but a certain glimpse or sign of the same: hence the hymn: Quicunque Christum quæritis, Oculos in altum tollite; Illìc licebit visere Signum perennis gloriæ." What exactly did the apostles see during the event? Did they see a "piece" or as Haydock seems to put it, a "glimpse" of the divine essence? Keep in mind that the eastern fathers never say that this light is an "uncreated energy"; they just say that the light is uncreated and that there was not a time in which it was not. Would saying that the light is a piece of the divine essence make us Messalian heretics? What is the Catholic church's official teaching on the light's nature? I've read the Summa Theologicæ and De Potentiæ but Aquinas never addresses the transfiguration light in those works. I'm still firmly convinced of the Filioque BTW. God Bless!
Great question. If I remember correctly, this reason and theology podcast with professor Aaron talks about it th-cam.com/video/kglwuOIgWTw/w-d-xo.html God bless you, I hope you have a joyful advent and Christmas season filled with the love of Christ. Pray the Rosary 📿
Thanks for the link and happy new year! I hope you had a great advent and Christmas season too. I watched the video and Dr. Canty mentioned “In a normal incarnation, the glory of divinity, which overflows into the soul, which then should overflow into the body right, so Christ should always be radiating physical light with that model…” He also mentions that the light flashed for a few seconds and then became invisible, giving the analogous appearance of a circuit turning off a light powered by electricity. I guess this is what the Greek fathers when the light is eternal. *Correction*: I said that Thomas Aquinas never addressed the transfiguration in the Summa. Please pardon my poor attention to detail. He does address it in the third part, question 45, article 2. He even cites Saint John of Damascus' homily on the transfiguration, which states that the light is eternal, in order to prove that the light came from his Godhead (divine nature).
This was wild! Welcome home! And thank you for your videos: you are doing God's work. I wonder if you have heard of the request of Our Lady (given at Cuapa, Nicaragua) to pray the rosary Sripturally, i.e. to read out the relevant Scriptural passage before praying the Our Father of the Mystery?
