  • Next Generation VTOL Helicopter Are Coming /
    Drone, fighter jet, and helicopter, all in one - this is the future of American VTOL helicopters. At a time when world powers must be even more powerful, no military asset can afford to not be useful in virtually every mission. As a result, traditional helicopters must now make way for a more advanced type of aircraft known as Tiltrotors. They fly faster, farther, and most importantly, they have better VTOL agility. To understand the importance of VTOL in tiltrotors, it is important to know how it works.

      A big tilting ducting fan with no wing would be a bad idea. No way to glide or autorotate in such a configuration. You’d need a big parachute if the engine fails.

    • @floppyglot
      @floppyglot ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Actually there is no more danger with this aircraft than a helicopter or any other fixed wing propeller aircraft with propellers low to the ground. It's unlikely that any infantry would leave the aircraft when its propellers are in a downward position anyway for exactly that reason.
      Regardless if something hits an aircraft with enough speed to forcibly tip it over or send it flying everyone is generally going to be f'd anyway. Whether it be a helicopter or fixed wing.
      Also I believe that there are some plans or something to actually put jets on the wings but not for a while.

      Jet engines need a very firm surface for V/still, they have to retrofit flight decks on ships operating F-35 because the Jet engine would blast a hole in the flight deck if they didn't. You can't even land on a no paved surface because the Jet blast would blast a crater. There are just some jobs that Jet engines do not do very well. Plus jet engines have large suction, and blast zones zones. To see the suction of a jet engine look on TH-cam for footage of a U.S. Navy flight deck crewman getting sucked into an A-6 intruder engine. Luckily for the crewman he was carrying a tie down chain that went into the engine before he did. He survived.

      For it to spin out of control you would need to cut off a rotor. The Valor should actually have enough power to hover on a single engine because it weighs about half as much as the Osprey.

    • @n3v3rforgott3n9
      @n3v3rforgott3n9 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They lacked them on the Osprey for a few reasons. One of them being that there is a dangerous exhaust coming from below the nacelles as it lands and takes off so loading people from the side could be dangerous. Secondly the Osprey is a cargo platform as well so it needs a back access ramp for cargo.

    • @JG-ic3py
      @JG-ic3py ปีที่แล้ว

      Which VTOL are you asking about and "massive" compared to what? There's nothing inherent in a VTOL that chances radar signature much compared to the same non-VTOL aircraft. An F-35B for example doesn't have a massively different radar signature than the non-VTOL versions like the F-35A or F-35C. The covers and louvers that assist in redirecting the thrust for vertical flight might increase radar signature a bit while they are open, but I can't imagine many circumstances where you'd be using an F-35B in vertical flight while in the enemy's radar envelope in the first place.

Faria com que esse tipo de radar pudesse ser utilizado em porta helicópteros (mesmo que este não seja marítimo, nem pensado para atuar em embarcações por suas hélices e "braços de sustentação" não serem retráteis, entre outros motivos). O mesmo raciocínio valeria para o V-22 Osprey, mas parece financeiramente absurdo.

    The first iteration of this is the Osprey which spends a lot time crashing into the ground whereby we have a lot of personel to this date. The Osprey was rushed into production without fixing all the problems and lots of military people are now dead.

    • @AsuraDandy
      @AsuraDandy ปีที่แล้ว +3

      As opposed to the other times military personal die from accidents in other helicopters. The only reason the Osprey gets alot of heat is because it happened during the early years, so the first impressions went off to a pretty bad start so it got a bad reputation. In actuality, the Osprey actually has less accidental non combat deaths than the Blackhawk during its first 20 years.

    • @chrissmith7669
      @chrissmith7669 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Osprey doesn’t spend “lots of time crashing”. It has an accident rate inline with other tactical aircraft.

      The Osprey is one of the safest aircraft the navy flies. Look up the stats and you will see it crashes less than the majority of military aircraft. More people have died in C-130s in the last 10 years than the Osprey and we use more Ospreys.

    Why didn't we put two sets of propellers counter rotation like our new helicopters wouldn't doing that give it a higher lift capability and be able to take more to the front lines of the battlefield

    • @NXTangl
      @NXTangl 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That would be an increase in complexity of an already extremely complicated system for marginal benefit. You can't "just" up the thrust by adding additional rotors, you would need to reinforce the wings to take the load, increase engine capacity to drive what is likely now a less efficient rotor setup, increase fuel weight to keep the same range, and so on. Since the rotors are already torque-balanced, it just doesn't make much sense.

      Gas powered Drone style motors are not as good at lifting heavy equipment because the motors have to be much smaller to fit in such a distributed manner. There also simply aren't electric motors big enough and efficient enough for this task. Also quad style aircraft are not as fast yet. Gas turbines and jet engines with larger propellers are much better.

    • @huntermitchell761

      They are slow. The army program behind these aircraft specifically requires them to fly much faster than current helicopters. The advantages of flying faster include but are not limited to: increased evasion of air defenses and enemy fire, faster reaction and relocation time, and faster mission execution.

      Well I recommend both and if you need a faster thing just get a turboprop with jet engines it's gonna be freaking fast also if you need to get above Mach 0.5 turn off turboprop or maybe make a special bay to contain it then jet engine on and boom MACH 1.

      I'm not sure what kind of expert you are? But as I said I think by thinking on how a jet engine could be augmented, and how a electro magnetic system could also be used to augment a fighter plane maybe is the answer to all this malarkey..

      @@n3v3rforgott3n9 sooo some fighter planes can hover, but in regards to UFO I'm talking about a similar system of propulsion but augmented...that the idea of a jet engine could be augments for more propulsion, such as using a microwave in the ignition section of the jet engine, and then, start targeting fuels oscilitation levels and use the fuel in an em state...eventually plasma could be used to create warp bubble or a form of hyper drive..
      I also believe magnets with antenna configurations were used to create lift or movement..again augmenting a initial system using a jet engine
      as jet engine is essentially a warp drive in its most basic form.
