I so enjoyed your video! I am new to this and have only dyed a few times. I am really enjoying knitting with mohair held together with my projects and thought I could dye mohair to compliment the yarn I have in my stash. I think getting the measurements and technique right can feel intimidating and then that squashes the creativity. You made this look so easy. I think I may try to dye a little today! Thank you for the inspiration! All your hard work and time you put in to make your colors has paid off! Your color palates are so beautiful!
Thank you! Yes, keep trying when the mood strikes and eventually you find your method and what works the easiest for you. Focus on the process of it. Hopefully the videos help others not waste time and yarn trying to figure it all out haha. I have also been knitting two strands held together and love the Mohair so much with a 4ply Merino. Now I just have to learn how to knit the things I want to knit! Also intimidating!
I thought I'd never be one to dye yarn, but what a change. Your dye book is just amazing and we can see the dedication and time spent on it. Thanks for sharing this video as it was so informative. I wish you success in your business.
Thank you so much for sharing, I am so glad to hear that you are having success with dyeing yarn! Great to get some good feedback on the dye recipe book!
Yah I am not sure if others ran into this issue. I am always mixing dye colours and they all take up differently on different fibres. Especially if you have one yarn with two different fibres. The layering seems to be my best solution so far! Especially with delicate yarns you don't want to stir as often. :) I hope it helps you.
Yes more time consuming dyeing the mohair. But I have improved my mohair yarn dyeing and it has gotten easier. No matter what I still unwind it and the. wind it back up so it’s fluffy again.
I found you on Etsy with your dye triangles and love that, then I was on TH-cam watching wet felting- and it’s you! My goodness thank you for putting all this out there. I’ve made quite a mess testing dyeing. I’m a rush in and surely my talent will strike into success kind of person. That is not reality.
Yes more to come too in the future. Oh I am so curious how your test dyeing went. Did you try out the dye triangle? I am really hoping it's helpful. I will make a video to go a long with it too.
@@muffsmerinowell I babysit grandkids during the school year, I’m just about to get to my me time. I have all my dyes and bare yarns. So just a matter of time. I’m also going to felt a backpack because of your videos. Have all my stuff for that too
I hope you will sell some to people like me! They are stunning! Pretty very pretty I could see a little clutch bag made with those pretty pinks & reds!,
Already done lol! Clutch is in illustration mode as we speak! But now I do wonder what shape you or others would go for. Might need to do a poll post. Yes the templates are available in my Etsy shop, digital and actual foam resist templates. The only thing, the digital ones need to be printed as large format plan prints which seems easy enough to do but not as easy as printing at home!
Try using glauber's salt as a leveling agent where you can add multiple dyes at the same time and hopefully that quick tip helps you out i really liked the video interesting colour chart i must say.... any tips on achieving a bright flourscent pastel shade of coral 🙏😊
That's a great trip! What does it do exactly? I haven't watched my own video in a while - for referencing. I am going to look it up. Pastel fluorescence can be challenging.I made a beautiful coral shade using fluorescent fuchsia and brilliant yellow. Try .1g Brilliant Yellow and .05 fluorescent fuchsia... as a starting point.
@@muffsmerino it slows down the dying process so all colours strike yarn at the same time resulting in even dye bath and more solid colour way... hope that helps you out 😁
Awsome vidéo and beautiful colors.. ! English is not my language… so it is right in this video :0.02 gr Teddy bear and 0.2 gr red ? Thank you for sharing
oh yes, maybe I don't have it correct on the video... (haven't watched it in a while..) should be .02g Teddy Bear Brown and .02g Cayenne red :) You can also use .02g fawn for a warmer tone.
@@muffsmerino so ...I have to try !! I bought your collection receipes so nice ! but I have Jaquard Acid dye and only few Dharma... maybe possible to obtain same results...?
@@marie1933 Replied on Etsy :) But will respond again in case others want to know. I have not used Jacquard but I am led to believe they could have similar concentration. So you could use the recipe amounts in the Classic collection in order to achieve similar results and then adjust to how you like from there :). It would work well as a guide for mixing colours of any brand.
Hi Sandra, yeah unfortunately Sunflower Yellow is now discontinued. I definitely need to catch up on making dye videos. Dharma recommends replacing Sunflower Yellow with Brilliant Yellow because the reformulated version was so similar. I have now tested both yellows in this collection and the colours come out exactly the correct hue, only a bit brighter, clear and more intense. I think doubling the brown or black in the recipe could help tone down the colour if that's the desired look :)
@@sandradelvecchio6894 The Ducklings Depth of shade is 25% compared to Brilliant yellow, so it doesn't really match up properly for the recipes. I do recommend using the brilliant yellow as the best replacement :)
@@muffsmerinothank you, I will. I have to say I am notoriously bad at seeing color contrast. Hard to believe I want to try to dye these shades that are so close! But I figure if I follow your recipes I can come closer than my own eyes allow.

Gosh that’s gorgeous. What’s the acid you use
Dharma Acid Dye is the dye used this collection. It's a very concentrated dye, so it goes a long way :) It is very beautiful on the mohair.
from Gerry- GORGEOUS!
Thank you so much!!
Thanks for the video! What are you using as acid?
I like using vinegar and I use citric acid sometimes. Citric acid in New Zealand is much more cost effective :)
