From the left court, at the NVZ with a long 3rd shot drop coming his way, white cap’s backhand flick to the opposite sideline is impressive. He made that same shot multiple times.
Great skills on Display!! Now I’m 55, 2nd year player, cross over from RBall, as fit as one can get, spent plenty on top of line paddles Have more than few!! but I feel I could play my Friday rec pads and hold my own against these fellas!
This was good pickleball! Many points shifted back and forth from one team on offense, to the other ... and back again. IMO, Black and Red made the same tactical error in each game. For some reason, late in each game, Black switched them to having Red play the Left Side. Black is clearly the better Left Side player on that team. Kudos to White, who clearly tweaked his L glute or hammy in the 2nd game, and played tough throughout. Ron, more of these videos, please. They're excellent! (Oh yes. The PPA should pay you to do their videos. Theirs look like security camera feeds...!)
Maybe the negative commenters are looking at professional pickleball on TV and comparing these 5.0 players to that standard? The difference between 5.0, 55-59 and Pros in their 20's is enormous. It's two different worlds. The rating system could use some work to make it more standardized. I can't argue with that. Maybe a 4.5 in my town is called a 3.5 in yours. Or vice versa. That's subjective. Especially if you don't get rated by playing in a bunch of tournaments - in and out of your home region. . The objective fact is that these guys played themselves into the gold medal match in the 5.0, 55-59 division in a tournament that was open to all of us. They didn't make up their ratings. They earned their ratings the hard, honest way. If you or I think we could have beaten them we should have entered that tournament and proved it. But I didn't play that tournament. So I say...Congratulations to the Gold medal pair and congratulations to the Silver pair as well. Well done.
Is a 5.0 20-30 different than a 5.0 55-59? Just asking, I don't know the answer. My knowledge is that the rating is very subjective as well, it's sell rating based for the most part. Young sport, etc. I haven't played long enough to know. I'm coming from tennis though.
@@spaghettimanpickleball nope, Pickleball enjoyer. I watched some more points and it definitely seems like at least 4.0 play. I guess I expected more consistency in a 5.0 tournament, and not a lot of easier shots hitting the top of the net.
@@spaghettimanpickleball Ha ha, I figured there'd be someone questioning the skill level of the participants. For some reason, every youtube video has at least one.
@@spaghettimanpickleball When it's player communication, you aren't making a call, you're telling your partner to lay off the shot because you think it's going out.

Players on far side, I believe, are both testing the limits of a legal serve.
5.0 play pretty good
Good match.

At 18:00 in Game 2, red shirt’s paddle hits the net
Good catch, he did hit it.
Nice catch. I missed it, too.
The shadows, creeping on, too bad, ya!! They should be within 20 feet of a championship match, your partner’s enough!!

How was this recorded? Was the camera mounted on top of some bleachers?
