Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP launched a scathing attack on the Congress after Sam Pitroda, the chief of Indian Overseas Congress, appeared to advocate for a US-style inheritance tax amid the ongoing debate over wealth redistribution.
The Congress, on the other hand, distanced itself from Pitroda's remark, saying that his views do not always reflect the position of the party.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi appeared to take a U-turn on his wealth survey remark, saying he only wanted to find out the amount of injustice the country was facing.

There is nothing wrong in redistribution. Some services like education, medical and legal must be free as it is most European Countries. To finance that we need inheritance tax beyond the 5 crores of inheritance. To evaluate the inheritance we need wealth survey. Inequality in India is very extreme and it must be reduced.
Mr Modi has stimulated the Hindus and redistribution will stimulate the people in India by knowing they also have a stake on India in a country with high unemployment.

I really like the concept of salary sacrifice for tax savings, we need the billionaires to invest a part of their wealth in public infrastructure projects across all states and this percentage of wealth should be tax free, by doing this the rich will not just give away money for free but rather invest with assured returns, public also benefits from this and it’s a win win situation
Inheritance tax works only when the economy is rich and advanced like US economy. Per capita income of india is barely around $2500/- compare to US which is around $75000/-. For the size of population India has, its economy has to be atleast $40 to $50 trillion dollar for this inheritance tax to work otherwise this tax is not a great idea as the economy will stop growing.
Prof Arun Kumar - I disagree that inequality is not natural. At all times of human civilization, inequality has been a reality. Even in nature, there is inequality. But I digress.
A country should definitely try to minimise inequality. The government should be focused on creating income earning opportunity to all, instead of penalising people who are wealthy. Such an approach shows the govt shirking it's responsibility. ,

If you talk in favour of the poor and minorities, people in the chair including those debating the issue will not like it. And it is most likely that people in treasury benches will always oppose what benefits billion population while the opposition will try every means to tell the world, "we have better ideas" whether they deliver it after victory or not.

Rahul Kanwal is such an ignorant person, a mouth piece of dispensation. A major budget on agriculture will help in food sovereignty because the major agricultural producer is also a consumer and just like European farmers are supported. By allocating budget to agriculture doesn't mean giving away money but improving agri infrastructure so that a farmer is not solely reliant upon nature , and also has inventories, godown. That's how u improve agriculture which ultimately will lead to a point where farmers won't be even demanding MSP in future. The sole reason they demand MSP is because they dont have infrastructure to fight in a free world market with farmers in foreign as per WTO. RAHUL kanwal you have proven to be a shame on Indians , a typical crony mouthpiece. Shame!
