To all those saying T&HM continued to be a good show, that's BS. We loved to hate and love Charlie for his faults, his functional/dysfunctional approach to life and the dynamic he had with the other characters. I loved Ashton Kutcher in That 70's Show but "Walden Schmidt" was no replacement for Charlie Harper.

I liked Ted Danson on the show. I was actually surprised how well he did considering he usually does comedy. I had stopped watching when Laurence Fishburn was cast (I've never liked him in anything) so I missed when Danson first showed up but found him later.
It's a bit of a joke that it was controversial that Charlie lived how his character was written. It's not exactly an uncommon lifestyle in Hollywood either...
He wasn't to be blamed. Only shitty writers are to be blamed. I believe everyone can be replaced, but just if you have the good writers to keep the story afloat. In the end, it was simply discovered the writers were out of ideas, and the show wasn't strong enough to actually survive the departure of one of the main characters, but which turned out to be the sole leading character. In conclusion, shitty written tv show = goes to shit when the only worthwhile character leaves.
Shows revolving specifically around a character cannot be replaced. It doesnt work, bc the stories revolve around that character, and its the character that people love. Changing it makes it no longer what it was. Spin city is a good example of this, and so is two and a half men. That 70s show is the same as well. Hell. Even replacing simon had this effect. Ncis isnt the same without the main cast bc the fans fall in love with the characters and actors performing those characters.
NCIS works with the replacement cast, it will be interesting though if the show manages to survive Gibbs' leaving (it will happen eventually, Mark Harmon isn't getting any younger).

I still haven't figured out why they continued making "Two and a Half Men" after Charlie Sheen imploded and exploded at the same time. The show was already getting long of tooth, as the saying goes, when the _Half_ was already a grownup (and then _bit_ the hand that had fed him) and suddenly, there's a complete stranger buying the house _and letting Alan and Jake live there?_ I never watched it after that---too weird a concept---but IMO, the show failed to "jump the shark" and the shark ate it.

Listen... Scrubs had 8 seasons, with the perfect finale. Season 9 was not Scrubs. But if you called it friggin anything else... anything else, just not Scrubs... it wasn't that bad.
For me, Eric wasn't a big lost as much as Kelso. Eric did practically nothing in s7 and I still enjoyed it a lot. Kelso was the one who made laugh the most so it left a huge hole when he left
Eric, Topher Grace, was the star of that show. Yeah everyone was funny and stood out but almost all the episodes till he left centered around him in someway. Idk what they was thinking replacing him with that seth Myers looking guy lol.
Northern Exposure. I remember this was big hit in my country when I was a kid. My mom watched it after long tiring days at work. I still remember melody of the music when episode started.
It was probably one of the best TV shows ever made for the first three seasons (at least I think so), but it had already jumped the shark before Fleishman left, they'd just run out of ideas.
I like the actress herself but I wasn't that fond of her work as Harriet. Jo Marie Payton is Harriet Winslow. The other lady is just Gina's mom from Martin to me, lol.

"The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air" letting go the original "Aunt Vivian" and the series "Girlfriends" replacing "Toni Childs". Both series were never the same without their complete original cast members.
It wasn’t awful. David spade was ok. I mean it’s David spade. And brought in the grandpa. The episodes as they grieve and struggle to get back to real life were really well written and well acted. So while I’d say yes the show went down, I felt they did a beautiful job of showing grief in a real way and it worked for a bit.
As for Facts of Life, adding Jo in the 2nd season was a good idea! Sue-Ann, Molly & Nancy appeared sporadically in seasons 2&3. So they were not completely written out. Jo gave the show the character we know it for now!
Facts of Life ran for 10 seasons I think it was a good run the girls were grown as for 8 Simple Rules Garner and Spade were sweet but it was just too sad to watch and not have John there anymore it was almost like losing a favorite uncle
Last man standing when they replaced the first daughter with someone who looked like she was in her late 30s playing a teen/early 20yr old. The previous actress was great and fit the character. The new actress tried too hard. Same with when they recast the other sister. Both actresses didn’t work with the characters and looked too old.
I got into the show kind of late so I'm more used to Amanda Fuller as Kristin than the original actress. So when I watch her I'm not really all that impressed to be honest.
I'm used to the new Mandy but every time I see the reruns with the original Mandy (Mollie Ephraim) I am sorry she left. Not to slight her replacement, but Ms. Ephraim is SO beautful!
Glue Guns & Roses yeah I was so confused when they replaced her because I feel she felt like she fit the family more the the new one just seemed like a stranger pretending to be part of the family. Plus she did not look like the age she was playing

Agreed. I didn't watch the show religiously but it made no sense without Eric. He was the character who was the audience's "conduit" into the madness. I stopped watching it altogether when Topher Grace left.

Thank you for acknowledging Lethal Weapon, when "stifler" joined, the shows' quality really went down, corny lines and predictable scenes littered season 3, uhhh, I shudder when I think about it, it was so spot on with riggs depression that it really grounded the show, and crawfords portrayal of a disturbed man was done PERFECTLY, regardless of the off screen drama
I agree but in some ways that was the big problem. Crawford was doing a drama about a near suicidal cop trying to come to terms was his wife's death, and Wayans was trying to do a buddy cop comedy. They were both doing a good job but those two paths just weren't meshing. And I think that the big problem with Sean William Scott's character was that they were definitely trying to sell him as Officer Stifler and that was a really bad way to do things. I think that if he had been cast as Riggs and it had leaned more toward being a comedy it would have worked a lot better. And if Crawford's version of Riggs had been something that a whole show was built around then that probably would have worked too.
A Fox president of entertainment came out and said that they had plans to keep the show on with Scot, but once Damon Wayans Quit the show they had no choice but to cancel it.
Only reason it didn't work is because it didn't stay true to the original characters. I didn't think the actor choice for Leo was a good one, when they brought stifler in it and it was a stand alone series it would have been good but it felt like they were trying to fill a gap and the original riggs was a brilliant actor once you got over the fact it wasn't Mel Gibson and Danny glover
@@kurokaze511 Clayne was trying to make it more in line with the movies, which would've been much better. Riggs was the "Lethal Weapon" of the movie. And Clayne as Riggs did a great job bringing a funny yet dramatic Riggs much like Gibson. Wayans never felt the way Glover did in the movies.
I preferred it with CJ and grandpa. I actually didn't even remember the dad figure when thinking back about the show untill it popped up in a list like this.
That was from Part 3. Lol. So many people did not get that part when I watched that movie in the theater. It was all about the irony of Serge correcting Axel when he himself mis pronounces Axels name. I miss those movies.
What about Sliders??? By the 5th and final season it wasn’t anything like the same show and of the 4 main characters only one remained. It really died when Jerry O’Connell left because he was THE main character.
Thank-you for mentioning "Sliders" - it was one of my favorites! Once they got Jerry (and Sabrina Lloyd) out, the heart of the show went out with them. It was unwatchable afterwards. Hat's off to Cleavant (Remmy) for sticking to the end - but still. The second "Quinn" was absolute trash. And the whole Quinn-Maggie rom was cringey to watch.
I loved Sliders for the first few seasons. Then they started losing characters and it became all about them fighting those cro-mags from Earth to Earth. Finally when Jerry O’Connell left, enough was enough for me. It still amazes me how such a great show could go downhill so quickly.

You should do a video for tv shows that went downhill when the main cast became romantically involved, Castle and Bones for example. One reason I love SVU, they didn't go down that road for Olivia and Stabler, no matter what fans wanted

A lot of these shows were more than 7 seasons into their run, a lot of these shows not succeeding anymore could just be the shows running out of steam. Most network sitcoms have a shelf life of 7-10 seasons.
Correct. And as a teacher I was always jealous of a teacher with one class that had what, 5 students, and honors to boot. And he could always be late to class without getting fired.
Some people flunk however they might not have ever mentioned the dates on the show. MASH TV show was on far more years than the Korean War. They also had things that didn't appear until after the actual war was over.
@@hydrolito The producer admitted that the show was about the VIETNAM war. It had to be disguised as the Korean War because the studio heads refused to greenlight anything that dealt with Vietnam. But Larry Gelbart and Rich Hooker had 'Nam stories they wanted to tell, and they did... just in Korea instead of Vietnam. They did a pretty good job even if, sometimes. you had to suspend your knowledge of actual history at times.
Just learned of head of class here. Mr.Carter, Hanging with Mr Cooper, Steve Harvey's, The Cosby show and I'm sure other shows had the guy teacher premise. I don't feel I missed out on anything.
What about the replacements for Bo and Luke Duke on Dukes of Hazzard? The replacements for Starbuck and Appolo on Battlestar Gallatice 1980 ( although it was revealed that Apolo character died )
Sleepy Hollow wasn't just ruined by a bad actor replacement. The producers didn't appreciate the fan reaction to Abby & Ichabod, and basically did everything they could to advocate for a show no one wanted to watch but them.
In Lethal Weapon, things weren't exactly as you mentioned. If you really look into what happened, see the videos of the arguing, and even Crawford doing an interview with one hour you will understand the real problem in there wasn't him, but Damon Wayans, he didn't even want to be part of the series in the first place, then an unknown actor doing more fame as the character then vet actor Damon Wayans probably hit Damon's ego. The "rumors" was that he was the one making hell with the series, but as we know he is the famous one, the who has contacts, so obviously the studio, directors and etc, will take his side.
I was just about to make a similar comment. Damon Wayans wouldn't show up to rehearsals and apparently sometimes that had to use a double for Damon because he didn't want to shoot. I've listened to the Crawford interview and I lost some respect for Damon Wayans after that.
@@Old__Odin I agree with you and the OP. The reason Clayne Crawford got the blame was because of Damon's star power. Crawford is relatively unknown as opposed to the Wayans family who are renowned in the TV and film industry. In the podcast you are referring to, Drinking Bros I believe, he mentions that the crew and producers basically sucked up to Damon, doing everything to please him, and allowed Wayans to walk all over them and take advantage. Damon was probably quite upset that he wasn't the leading character. Riggs was always the star, even though it wouldn't have been the same without Glover in the movie. So Crawford was pretty much the fall guy for the problems that occurred. One can only take so much BS and the amount Clayne dealt with, I'm surprised he didn't completely lose his mind. Sad that such a great show with incredible potential got destroyed by someone who could've been a great contrast to Clayne's Riggs. Though let's be honest, Clayne made the show what it was. He was on par with Gibson's Riggs. Damon was a subpar replacement for Glover's Murtaugh, at best.
I'm so glad you said this. This show was so good because Clayne Crawford played Riggs perfectly. I wonder how it would have worded out had someone else been hired to play Murtaugh.
When I was watching this video I immediately remembered of Spin City. Michael J. Fox played the protagonist, was replaced and that just killed the whole thing.

I agree that John Amos was a foundation character for "Good Times" but I disagree that the show went downhill after his departure. The departure of Florida is what sent the show downhill. The Evans offspring were living in the projects with no mother or father...come on!

I didn't think that Daphne Maxwell Reid was bad as Vivian, but I felt that the character Vivian overall wasn't really the same anymore. Still liked her though.

I love "The Walking Dead", but I just couldn't watch anymore after Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) left. I know it was an ensemble show, and the acting was great from everyone in my opinion, but Rick was my favorite character and the leader of the group. I lost interest once he was gone.
They didn't actually replace Mr Kotter with anyone new though, as his on-screen wife started teaching the classes, when she has already been a regular cast member.

Seems like most these are all on their last legs before the loss of a "bad actor" replacement. Maybe not all of them but any show that goes 5 to 7 years and then tries a replacement, I really don't think it's a "bad actor" replacement.
Same, problem is this video is completley lying. Sasha never went to jail. It was found in court his wife was physically abusing sasha and doing drugs. Sasha didnt fight the firing based off accusation because he still loved his wife and wanted it to work for him and their kids.

If you've never seen it, do yourself a favor and keep it that way. You are not missing anything. "Randy" wasn't funny, his relationship with Donna was never credible, I spent much of the time wondering why these people were still hanging out in the Foreman's basement, Hyde marries a stripper from Vegas, Laurie was still being played by that other terrible actress and Jackie ends up with a crush on Fez. Just......so, so, so much wrong with it.

I mean, every episode had a serial killer, despite crime statistics reporting that 90% of murders are committed by someone the victim knows well (e.g. family member, friend, lover, business associate etc). Serial killers are rarer statistically. Also, how a police unit can afford to fly on a private plane every week. I bet the taxpayers were happy about that.
You should get all your facts straight about the lethal weapon drama. Clayton was trying to save a show that wayans was making a huge mess. Between being late to set all the time, not wanting to do any stunts, causing major production hold ups and issues. It's all in the interview with Clayton on his friends podcast
The 9th Season was a Spin off. It should called just "Med School" so the Producers said. And not the 9th Season of regular Scrubs. It was the awful decision from the TV channels to name it the 9th season of Scrubs for better marketing on the show and to get more money out of it.
Pierce has some if the greatest lines in Community. Chevy might be an ass but he did good work on the show...when he bothered to show up and stay for the duration of shooting.

I remember Facts of life-It was an Olympic year that it got cancelled and replaced with Empty Nest-except I was still looking for the show wondering where it went, missing it A LOT! I thought it was only gone because of the Olympics! I was sadly proven to be wrong.
The biggest problem with the 9th season of Scrubs was Lucy Bennett who was essentially female JD. If they had focused on Denise or Drew and tweaked their narrations to match their characters, it would have been far better. They tried to hard to replace JD with a JD type character. Which I think is a big problem for most replacements. I think they rush to replace characters rather than having the show go on without them.
You missed two shows that should have been in the top of the list. Two and a half men and eight simple rules. When John Ritter passed away, there was no replacement that could have saved it.
Absolutely. Most shows with an ensemble cast can replace characters with a little care, but not if the show is connected to a single central character and the actor/actress playing that character. Some shows try, but it almost never works out.
The Yoyoyo It’s a shame when they do that. It’s why I respect Christopher Nolan for stepping away from Batman after the trilogy or Arrow ending on its own terms. 70s Show is another one I wish ended a season early.

I stop watching the show after his death 😭😭😭😭 I just watch from the 1st season, up to his final season. But when I 1st watched the episode of his funeral. I felt like I was saying goodbye to him.
I think you got the Lethal Weapon one twisted, hearing Crawford mention his side made it seem like wayans was horrible to work with because he was used to being in charge and basically wanted the show to be a revamped My Wife And Kids, I think that is pretty apparent when watching.
I think that if Lethal Weapon had starred Sean William Scott in the first place it would have really worked. He did a really good job on that show and most of the people watching liked his character better. It's just that by that point most people had lost interest in the show because Crawford and Wayans had no chemistry and it felt like they were trying to do two completely different types of show for each character. And Sleepy Hollow didn't fail because they replaced the actress, it failed because they thought that using an arc based around time-travel to reboot the show was a good idea. It was a really good show up until then and I enjoyed every episode but between them basically erasing everything that had happened in the first three seasons like that, as well as using a crossover event to completely invalidate everything about the show Bones, it couldn't really recover. Think about it, in a world were magic exists and the police don't know about it, every single closed case they have is now suspect because a Wizard could have done and used magic to blame someone else.
I agree. When I heard there was going to be a Lethal Weapon series, Scott was the actor that immediately popped into my head to play Riggs. Scott just got into it too late, and the entire production crew was in a death spiral.

You smoothed over the Kevin James debacle. The actress who played his wife never had a chance. Her character was badly written probably because Kevin wouldn't allow her to steal attention. Lisa Remini showed up as a "guest" and, basically, that was the end for the wife character. Remini was the only reason to watch King of Queens but I am disappointed in her for the part she played in this "replacement". I stopped watching because of it.

I must admit when I found out Clayne Crawford wasnt going to play Martin Riggs anymore I was let's just say more than devastated. But when Seann William Scott came and played Wesley Cole. I was excited. But I must admit I will always love Martin Riggs. I am truly devastated that they have now cancelled Lethel Weapon. I loved the 3 series. Wish they would do more
Damon Wayans hated the show. He only did it because he was promised a show of his own choosing. He was also a ass against the workers and co stars on season 1 of the show

After knowing about all his crap I'd have been okay with DD getting recast and the show just continuing on.

Northern Exposure ~ Guys, come on. Get your facts straight. His character wasn't a NY doctor. He was a med. student who accepted a scholarship so he could become a doctor. And he did. He was simply from NY. When he went to thank the town for putting him through med. school, that's when he realized he was tricked. Accepting the scholarship meant that he was now forced to work as the town's doctor for a certain number of years. (All of that contained in the fine print.) Not wanting to be sued into a cardboard box, he very reluctantly took the job. In one deeply disturbing episode later on, he wanted more money. He was right to ask for it. He decided to strike. And, although not physically harmed, the town did everything they could to break him. Including literally leaving him homeless on the street when someone he considered a good friend, locked him out of his home. With a rather lame, "Sorry;" for having done so. Eventually he goes back to work when he realizes that these people who don't give a _folk_ about him, need him. His character was a doormat. In fact, when you got to know all of the characters on a deeper basis, none of them were likable. Hey there's an idea for a video.... Top 10 Disturbing Episodes in TV Comedies.

It threw me off so much also the actress besides looks is easily 10 yes older trying to play a 20 something when she is in her thirties just did not work.
Have not watched a single episode of the final seasons of both Scrubs and That 70's Show, having seen every episode of the other seasons. Also, Damon Wayans was the real issue with Lethal Weapon. Once it was over, several people came out telling the real truth. Yes the on set accident happened but Crawford did not call Wayans a crybabay. Those other incidents were made up. The producers wanted to keep on Wayans, as he was a bigger name, so they cut Crawford loose. Then Wayans still did not like being there even after that, so he decided to quir.
Not going to mention The Office? After Michael left the quality of the show drops off quite considerably. It had its moments but the fact it ended two seasons later is a testament to how bad it had become

Who else thought this was about king of queens and couldn’t think of which actor left or got replaced?
CSI went downhill after William Peterson left as Grissom.
Those first few seasons were awesome. I remember as a kid being both freaked out but really liked Grissom at the same time.

I liked Ted Danson on the show. I was actually surprised how well he did considering he usually does comedy. I had stopped watching when Laurence Fishburn was cast (I've never liked him in anything) so I missed when Danson first showed up but found him later.
I hated Ashton on 2 and a half men. Charlie was the best part. The dynamic with the original cast was perfect.
Cadillac Deville . Charlie was and is just repulsive.
It's a bit of a joke that it was controversial that Charlie lived how his character was written. It's not exactly an uncommon lifestyle in Hollywood either...
He wasn't to be blamed. Only shitty writers are to be blamed. I believe everyone can be replaced, but just if you have the good writers to keep the story afloat. In the end, it was simply discovered the writers were out of ideas, and the show wasn't strong enough to actually survive the departure of one of the main characters, but which turned out to be the sole leading character.
In conclusion, shitty written tv show = goes to shit when the only worthwhile character leaves.

Shows revolving specifically around a character cannot be replaced. It doesnt work, bc the stories revolve around that character, and its the character that people love. Changing it makes it no longer what it was. Spin city is a good example of this, and so is two and a half men. That 70s show is the same as well. Hell. Even replacing simon had this effect. Ncis isnt the same without the main cast bc the fans fall in love with the characters and actors performing those characters.
NCIS works with the replacement cast, it will be interesting though if the show manages to survive Gibbs' leaving (it will happen eventually, Mark Harmon isn't getting any younger).

I still haven't figured out why they continued making "Two and a Half Men" after Charlie Sheen imploded and exploded at the same time. The show was already getting long of tooth, as the saying goes, when the _Half_ was already a grownup (and then _bit_ the hand that had fed him) and suddenly, there's a complete stranger buying the house _and letting Alan and Jake live there?_ I never watched it after that---too weird a concept---but IMO, the show failed to "jump the shark" and the shark ate it.
@@oldenweery7510 Its bc how i mentioned, the show revolved around chatlie. Shows that revolve around a character no longer work when gone. That 70s show was the same. Foreman left and so there is basically no show when the main story revolves around that character.
X-files, never the same after Duchovny left, even with his return the bottom had already dropped out of it.

Maggie didn't have any love interests or a love hate relationship like she did with Flieshman
It was probably one of the best TV shows ever made for the first three seasons (at least I think so), but it had already jumped the shark before Fleishman left, they'd just run out of ideas.
Frankly, I was glad when the whiny character left. The show was nearing its end, regardless.

It wasn’t awful. David spade was ok. I mean it’s David spade. And brought in the grandpa. The episodes as they grieve and struggle to get back to real life were really well written and well acted. So while I’d say yes the show went down, I felt they did a beautiful job of showing grief in a real way and it worked for a bit.
As for Facts of Life, adding Jo in the 2nd season was a good idea! Sue-Ann, Molly & Nancy appeared sporadically in seasons 2&3. So they were not completely written out. Jo gave the show the character we know it for now!

Facts of Life ran for 10 seasons I think it was a good run the girls were grown as for 8 Simple Rules Garner and Spade were sweet but it was just too sad to watch and not have John there anymore it was almost like losing a favorite uncle
Last man standing when they replaced the first daughter with someone who looked like she was in her late 30s playing a teen/early 20yr old. The previous actress was great and fit the character. The new actress tried too hard. Same with when they recast the other sister. Both actresses didn’t work with the characters and looked too old.

I got into the show kind of late so I'm more used to Amanda Fuller as Kristin than the original actress. So when I watch her I'm not really all that impressed to be honest.

Agreed. I didn't watch the show religiously but it made no sense without Eric. He was the character who was the audience's "conduit" into the madness. I stopped watching it altogether when Topher Grace left.

Thank you for acknowledging Lethal Weapon, when "stifler" joined, the shows' quality really went down, corny lines and predictable scenes littered season 3, uhhh, I shudder when I think about it, it was so spot on with riggs depression that it really grounded the show, and crawfords portrayal of a disturbed man was done PERFECTLY, regardless of the off screen drama
I agree but in some ways that was the big problem. Crawford was doing a drama about a near suicidal cop trying to come to terms was his wife's death, and Wayans was trying to do a buddy cop comedy. They were both doing a good job but those two paths just weren't meshing. And I think that the big problem with Sean William Scott's character was that they were definitely trying to sell him as Officer Stifler and that was a really bad way to do things. I think that if he had been cast as Riggs and it had leaned more toward being a comedy it would have worked a lot better. And if Crawford's version of Riggs had been something that a whole show was built around then that probably would have worked too.
A Fox president of entertainment came out and said that they had plans to keep the show on with Scot, but once Damon Wayans Quit the show they had no choice but to cancel it.
Only reason it didn't work is because it didn't stay true to the original characters. I didn't think the actor choice for Leo was a good one, when they brought stifler in it and it was a stand alone series it would have been good but it felt like they were trying to fill a gap and the original riggs was a brilliant actor once you got over the fact it wasn't Mel Gibson and Danny glover
@@kurokaze511 Clayne was trying to make it more in line with the movies, which would've been much better. Riggs was the "Lethal Weapon" of the movie. And Clayne as Riggs did a great job bringing a funny yet dramatic Riggs much like Gibson. Wayans never felt the way Glover did in the movies.

Thank-you for mentioning "Sliders" - it was one of my favorites! Once they got Jerry (and Sabrina Lloyd) out, the heart of the show went out with them. It was unwatchable afterwards. Hat's off to Cleavant (Remmy) for sticking to the end - but still. The second "Quinn" was absolute trash. And the whole Quinn-Maggie rom was cringey to watch.

I loved Sliders for the first few seasons. Then they started losing characters and it became all about them fighting those cro-mags from Earth to Earth. Finally when Jerry O’Connell left, enough was enough for me. It still amazes me how such a great show could go downhill so quickly.

The Walking Dead is lucky it has a strong secondary protagonist in Darryl Dixon/Norman Reedus because that’s only thing that’s kept it alive. Some would argue the show itself is The Walking Dead

A lot of these shows were more than 7 seasons into their run, a lot of these shows not succeeding anymore could just be the shows running out of steam. Most network sitcoms have a shelf life of 7-10 seasons.

Some people flunk however they might not have ever mentioned the dates on the show. MASH TV show was on far more years than the Korean War. They also had things that didn't appear until after the actual war was over.
@@hydrolito The producer admitted that the show was about the VIETNAM war. It had to be disguised as the Korean War because the studio heads refused to greenlight anything that dealt with Vietnam. But Larry Gelbart and Rich Hooker had 'Nam stories they wanted to tell, and they did... just in Korea instead of Vietnam. They did a pretty good job even if, sometimes. you had to suspend your knowledge of actual history at times.

Sleepy Hollow wasn't just ruined by a bad actor replacement. The producers didn't appreciate the fan reaction to Abby & Ichabod, and basically did everything they could to advocate for a show no one wanted to watch but them.

In Lethal Weapon, things weren't exactly as you mentioned. If you really look into what happened, see the videos of the arguing, and even Crawford doing an interview with one hour you will understand the real problem in there wasn't him, but Damon Wayans, he didn't even want to be part of the series in the first place, then an unknown actor doing more fame as the character then vet actor Damon Wayans probably hit Damon's ego. The "rumors" was that he was the one making hell with the series, but as we know he is the famous one, the who has contacts, so obviously the studio, directors and etc, will take his side.
I was just about to make a similar comment. Damon Wayans wouldn't show up to rehearsals and apparently sometimes that had to use a double for Damon because he didn't want to shoot. I've listened to the Crawford interview and I lost some respect for Damon Wayans after that.
@@Old__Odin I agree with you and the OP. The reason Clayne Crawford got the blame was because of Damon's star power. Crawford is relatively unknown as opposed to the Wayans family who are renowned in the TV and film industry. In the podcast you are referring to, Drinking Bros I believe, he mentions that the crew and producers basically sucked up to Damon, doing everything to please him, and allowed Wayans to walk all over them and take advantage. Damon was probably quite upset that he wasn't the leading character. Riggs was always the star, even though it wouldn't have been the same without Glover in the movie. So Crawford was pretty much the fall guy for the problems that occurred. One can only take so much BS and the amount Clayne dealt with, I'm surprised he didn't completely lose his mind. Sad that such a great show with incredible potential got destroyed by someone who could've been a great contrast to Clayne's Riggs. Though let's be honest, Clayne made the show what it was. He was on par with Gibson's Riggs. Damon was a subpar replacement for Glover's Murtaugh, at best.
I'm so glad you said this. This show was so good because Clayne Crawford played Riggs perfectly. I wonder how it would have worded out had someone else been hired to play Murtaugh.
When I was watching this video I immediately remembered of Spin City. Michael J. Fox played the protagonist, was replaced and that just killed the whole thing.

I love "The Walking Dead", but I just couldn't watch anymore after Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) left. I know it was an ensemble show, and the acting was great from everyone in my opinion, but Rick was my favorite character and the leader of the group. I lost interest once he was gone.
You might want to double check the info on the lethal weapon series. Clayne Crawford tells a different version of events than Damon Wayans did.
IKR. He got fired for insisting they make the set safer. This was the first time I've ever heard that he supposedly called Wayans a crybaby.

They didn't actually replace Mr Kotter with anyone new though, as his on-screen wife started teaching the classes, when she has already been a regular cast member.

Seems like most these are all on their last legs before the loss of a "bad actor" replacement. Maybe not all of them but any show that goes 5 to 7 years and then tries a replacement, I really don't think it's a "bad actor" replacement.
Ironically, The Facts of Life was saved in the second season by gutting half the cast.

Same, problem is this video is completley lying. Sasha never went to jail. It was found in court his wife was physically abusing sasha and doing drugs. Sasha didnt fight the firing based off accusation because he still loved his wife and wanted it to work for him and their kids.
Wow, way to throw Sasha under the bus there Looper. He was the reason I watched Step-by-Step to be honest.

@@Yamieddie Yup in 2 episodes, that was after it was found his wife was doing the abusing. The Studio asked him to return for a few shows and apologized for firing him before but the dmg had already been done
CSI New York & Fresh Prince of Bel Air should also be on the list they had 2 good actresses who both got replaced and it just never felt the same.

If you've never seen it, do yourself a favor and keep it that way. You are not missing anything. "Randy" wasn't funny, his relationship with Donna was never credible, I spent much of the time wondering why these people were still hanging out in the Foreman's basement, Hyde marries a stripper from Vegas, Laurie was still being played by that other terrible actress and Jackie ends up with a crush on Fez. Just......so, so, so much wrong with it.
Criminal minds fell apart after season 10, when like 3 of the main cast left
Rhys gelling fisher i think it was ultimately Hotch character leaving ,Thomas Gibson took the dark/ seriousness atmosphere with him

I mean, every episode had a serial killer, despite crime statistics reporting that 90% of murders are committed by someone the victim knows well (e.g. family member, friend, lover, business associate etc). Serial killers are rarer statistically.
Also, how a police unit can afford to fly on a private plane every week. I bet the taxpayers were happy about that.
"News Radio" is one of the best Sitcoms of all time. Watch the episode with guest star James Caan. You will thank me.
You should get all your facts straight about the lethal weapon drama. Clayton was trying to save a show that wayans was making a huge mess. Between being late to set all the time, not wanting to do any stunts, causing major production hold ups and issues. It's all in the interview with Clayton on his friends podcast

The 9th Season was a Spin off. It should called just "Med School" so the Producers said. And not the 9th Season of regular Scrubs. It was the awful decision from the TV channels to name it the 9th season of Scrubs for better marketing on the show and to get more money out of it.
Chevy Chase' character was no great loss to "Community."

Pierce has some if the greatest lines in Community. Chevy might be an ass but he did good work on the show...when he bothered to show up and stay for the duration of shooting.
I´m pretty sure we all agree that the 9th season of Scrubs was not really Scrubs.. it was Medical School and a weird side-project that should have been season 1! Oh, how I miss Scrubs though

I remember Facts of life-It was an Olympic year that it got cancelled and replaced with Empty Nest-except I was still looking for the show wondering where it went, missing it A LOT! I thought it was only gone because of the Olympics! I was sadly proven to be wrong.

The biggest problem with the 9th season of Scrubs was Lucy Bennett who was essentially female JD. If they had focused on Denise or Drew and tweaked their narrations to match their characters, it would have been far better. They tried to hard to replace JD with a JD type character. Which I think is a big problem for most replacements. I think they rush to replace characters rather than having the show go on without them.

You missed two shows that should have been in the top of the list. Two and a half men and eight simple rules. When John Ritter passed away, there was no replacement that could have saved it.

Absolutely.
Most shows with an ensemble cast can replace characters with a little care, but not if the show is connected to a single central character and the actor/actress playing that character. Some shows try, but it almost never works out.
Kevin can wait was in no way a great show. It was awful. With and without Leah Remini
The Scrubs one was jarring when I was binge watching a few years back.
I loved that show so much but the last season was so bad that I would have rather seen them end it a season early.
The Yoyoyo It’s a shame when they do that. It’s why I respect Christopher Nolan for stepping away from Batman after the trilogy or Arrow ending on its own terms.
70s Show is another one I wish ended a season early.

@@welcometothemovies9157 from what I understood it was damon that caused all the problems. That he did not want to do the show but was shocked when it took off. There are interviews with Crawford about what happened and people that were there came out on his side saying he did nothing wrong.
I still to this day watch News Radio, I skip the episode where they say goodbye to Phil Hartman.

I just watch from the 1st season, up to his final season. But when I 1st watched the episode of his funeral. I felt like I was saying goodbye to him.
I think you got the Lethal Weapon one twisted, hearing Crawford mention his side made it seem like wayans was horrible to work with because he was used to being in charge and basically wanted the show to be a revamped My Wife And Kids, I think that is pretty apparent when watching.
I think that if Lethal Weapon had starred Sean William Scott in the first place it would have really worked. He did a really good job on that show and most of the people watching liked his character better. It's just that by that point most people had lost interest in the show because Crawford and Wayans had no chemistry and it felt like they were trying to do two completely different types of show for each character. And Sleepy Hollow didn't fail because they replaced the actress, it failed because they thought that using an arc based around time-travel to reboot the show was a good idea. It was a really good show up until then and I enjoyed every episode but between them basically erasing everything that had happened in the first three seasons like that, as well as using a crossover event to completely invalidate everything about the show Bones, it couldn't really recover. Think about it, in a world were magic exists and the police don't know about it, every single closed case they have is now suspect because a Wizard could have done and used magic to blame someone else.
I agree. When I heard there was going to be a Lethal Weapon series, Scott was the actor that immediately popped into my head to play Riggs. Scott just got into it too late, and the entire production crew was in a death spiral.

Kevin Can Wait is nothing more than The King of Queens 2.0 that I'm surprised that Jerry Stiller never made a surprise appearance in any of the episodes.
You smoothed over the Kevin James debacle. The actress who played his wife never had a chance. Her character was badly written probably because Kevin wouldn't allow her to steal attention. Lisa Remini showed up as a "guest" and, basically, that was the end for the wife character. Remini was the only reason to watch King of Queens but I am disappointed in her for the part she played in this "replacement". I stopped watching because of it.

I started to like "Kevin can wait." Until they killed off the wife without any explanation what so ever. That killed it for me.
Yeah killing off the wife Just because and the writers just went with it is shocking. I hated Everyone loves Raymond wife on the show, Debra but I still watched it.
Not to mention that "killing off" a character in a sitcom is a pretty dumb move to begin with...

Hector Rico she became more of a main character on Scrubs.
They shouldn’t have even tried replacing Crawford on Lethal Weapon. He was basically the main reason why I watched. And scrubs definitely was great 1-8
I must admit when I found out Clayne Crawford wasnt going to play Martin Riggs anymore I was let's just say more than devastated. But when Seann William Scott came and played Wesley Cole. I was excited. But I must admit I will always love Martin Riggs. I am truly devastated that they have now cancelled Lethel Weapon. I loved the 3 series. Wish they would do more
Damon Wayans hated the show. He only did it because he was promised a show of his own choosing. He was also a ass against the workers and co stars on season 1 of the show
@@icemanpain I loved this show, but then finding out how much of an asshole DW was on the set was just crazy then not only does he get CC fired but then does one season and is like I'm quitting the show after that. After knowing about all his crap I'd have been okay with DD getting recast and the show just continuing on.

6th Season of Community was actually pretty good. Yahoo's streaming service was destined to fail no matter what.
And a seventh season would've ruined the running joke. Seven seasons and a movie doesn't have the same ring to it

Guys, come on. Get your facts straight. His character wasn't a NY doctor. He was a med. student who accepted a scholarship so he could become a doctor. And he did. He was simply from NY. When he went to thank the town for putting him through med. school, that's when he realized he was tricked.
Accepting the scholarship meant that he was now forced to work as the town's doctor for a certain number of years. (All of that contained in the fine print.)
Not wanting to be sued into a cardboard box, he very reluctantly took the job. In one deeply disturbing episode later on, he wanted more money. He was right to ask for it. He decided to strike. And, although not physically harmed, the town did everything they could to break him. Including literally leaving him homeless on the street when someone he considered a good friend, locked him out of his home. With a rather lame, "Sorry;" for having done so. Eventually he goes back to work when he realizes that these people who don't give a _folk_ about him, need him. His character was a doormat. In fact, when you got to know all of the characters on a deeper basis, none of them were likable.

I really liked King Of Queens and was really sad when it ended. Even though I like Kevin James, I just didn’t like Kevin Can Wait. At least he went on to make some really good movies. Thank you Looper for another great video 👍

It threw me off so much also the actress besides looks is easily 10 yes older trying to play a 20 something when she is in her thirties just did not work.
Have not watched a single episode of the final seasons of both Scrubs and That 70's Show, having seen every episode of the other seasons. Also, Damon Wayans was the real issue with Lethal Weapon. Once it was over, several people came out telling the real truth. Yes the on set accident happened but Crawford did not call Wayans a crybabay. Those other incidents were made up. The producers wanted to keep on Wayans, as he was a bigger name, so they cut Crawford loose. Then Wayans still did not like being there even after that, so he decided to quir.
Not going to mention The Office? After Michael left the quality of the show drops off quite considerably. It had its moments but the fact it ended two seasons later is a testament to how bad it had become
I was still watching 70s show even though Eric was gone. I loved that show so much! But I swear, I could have gone without Randy!
