I ordered the OK-81TI with CPM S30V steel and titanium alloy handle. I'm a bit concerned after seeing your video. I knew I was taking a risk when ordering it. This one does have the notch cut out so that you can access the compression lock. I have a real Spyderco Para 3 and am very pleased with it. We'll see if this gamble pays off on a much cheaper knock off.
I have another review video here on the channel for the OK81 Carbon Fiber version. It's awesome. None of the problems that I found with the 223. I think you'll be happy with the Ti version. The quality issues are only with the OK223 models as far as I can tell.
@@BladesOnABudget I finally got the OK-81TI and it's not too bad. It feels good in the hand and seems solid. It's fairly smooth to open, but closing the blade isn't. Maybe it will get better after breaking in. The Spyderco Para 3 is a nicer knife and should be for the money.
I forgot to mention - here was my bizarre but working solution to the weak detent. I put a couple of neodymium magnets inside the scale on the weak OK-223. It doesn't make it like a strong detent, but it's an improvement, and the blade tends to close fully after a quick bounce. I did that to another knife, not the OK, and it really made it close perfectly almost every time, no bounce.
Nice idea! Did you glue them to the CF scale in between the steel liner cutout? (See screenshot at bladesonabudget.com/223magnet) That seems like a natural little "pocket" to fit them into?
@@BladesOnABudget Depends on the knife. If there's an open space on the liner like in your picture, I glue them on the scale in that open space. That's not always close enough to the blade, though. If there's enough space between the blade and the liner so the blade doesn't hit the magnet, I will glue them on the liner, which should work better. Haven't tried that yet. I'm planning to do a video on it. Still experimenting.
Your channel turned me on to Skiff stuff. So I put skiff ceramic bearings in my OK-223CF. They work great. The detent on mine is almost too strong, and I have another OK-223 where the detent is a bit too light. That's the kind of unpredictability that comes with shaving off costs. I see yours has 2 washers. Mine only has one, and it was in the knife bearing slot, not on the scale. The differences between the exact same models is weird!
I cannot get any credit card or debit card to work with ok. I even went out and bought a prepaid cc and it wont accept it. 5 cards all declined. Super frustrating
Wow. That sucks. I think I had to contact my bank (debit card) after the first transaction to let them know that I really did want to use my card there. After that, no problems at all. Have you tried their ky-knives dot com website? Same company, but I think they have more payment options. I think they made that site because people had issues with their cards on the OKK site.
Man I would have sworn I replied to this already but don't see it here. Sorry if not! Just google "Skiff Workshop". The size for either this OK223 or the OK81 is 5mm x 1/16. Hope that helps. 👍
@@BladesOnABudget yeah for me I can’t even get that far. As soon as I enter my state and country, the payment area says the payment failed. I didn’t even get that far to input any info. This indicates to me they have some issues with how the payment gateway is configured with the site.
Someone else mentioned this too. I've never seen a knife do that before. Any idea why? Is that why the inside of those blade "pockets" (that the bearing fit into) look so rough & unfinished?
@ either because the spacing problem you referred to or more likely because running the bearings on that rough blade tang was causing unacceptably bad action so they found thinnest washers possible and slapped them in there.
The washers are nothing more than just an inexpensive work around that give the bearings a smooth surface to roll on. It's cheaper than having to finish the bearing pockets properly.
Really? Can you explain a little more why you would need to do that? Of all of the knives I've ever bought (including the "real" ones) I've never seen any manufacturer do that.
@BladesOnABudget the metal washers are can be used for several reasons. One is centering can be adjusted by placing them in different orders. Another can be to deal with softer materials like titanium wearingout too fast. Another could be rough finish and or smoothness to the action. The last reason I will list is to adjust lockup as it will cause the lock bar to contact the blade at different angles.
Ouch. The fit and finish were terrible on that OK knife. You did a good job with it though. The Temu version of the PM3 is great. No need to mod. Smooth out the box
yeah, disappointing. Especially since the OK81 (PM2 version) was close to perfect out of the box. Which version of the Para3 did you get? G10? Micarta? FRN/plastic/Lightweight?
I think that was perfect with the first tuch. No need more ..! You should keep it like that ..! ^^
Very cool. I like these OK knives with the carbon fiber, especially the silver
I really like the OK81 (PM2) with the silver carbon fiber a lot. It seems much better quality. I guess that's why this one was so disappointing.
@BladesOnABudget I have the "limited edition" Shaman in silver twill and S90v

@@BladesOnABudget Thanks. Hopefully I'll get it in the next week and will let you know.

Another great informative tutorial thank you very much
Thanks Enrique! 👍

I did this to my micarta version of this.
Was it a real Para3 or one of the replicas?

I wish I could order one, but their payment gateway is down.
Sorry to hear that. I've heard from a few people that have had issues with cards getting declined too. Seems like. they'd want to get that fixed. 🤷♂️

The washers were on the blade, not the frame

I guess so. Just seems like they'd use decent washers that don't bend so easily. 🤷♂️
Washer go between the blade and bearing.

@BladesOnABudget I grabbed the G10 Green Camo with the "CPM S30V" black blade. And honestly it's one of my favorite knives.
I think it can't be M390 steel ..! It's to expensive. ^^
😂
When Spyderco and Benchmade have a baby...LOL
😂
Not great just ok
😂😂 Took me a minute to get that!
