The late George Mraz is becoming one of my favourite Acoustic Bass players; he has the clarity of an Electric bass guitar, this come from his fingerc via his aand his soul. The man was 100% musicican.
Tommy Flanagan, best jazz pianist... Wes Montgomery, best jazz guitarist... Jimmy Smith, best jazz organist... Miles Davis, best jazz trumpeter... Charlie Parker, best jazz saxophonist... What more can you ask?
As someone new to enjoying jazz it amazes me how often a group is made up of top notch musicians who often have a strong following of loyal fans. I came here because of Tommy but everyone is amazing
Thanks. I didn't know that Boberwig had gone AND all his brilliant videos before I'd had time to download the best of them. He was the best jazz downloader of all. I wonder what the hell has happened.
In USA is everthing Sport?Even art.Why ist it not possible to hear different artists at the same time. Flanagan was one of the great like so many other.
Yeah! I forgot her! ... Now the best jazz guitarist for me changed from Wes to Lenny Breau! Check out him playing Mercy Mercy Mercy, or at the least bit just check him all out!
I know music isn't a sport... I know there is no best... Lol! Opinions is what blind us from what is really true, that the facts are: There are people who listen to music, like music and favorite some music. Their favorites are the best for them. They say the best is basically there favorite. So basically saying who is the best is basically saying who is your favorite (or favorites). I know a lot... Don't judge me from one old silly comment of mines, hmm, not that old...
Its terrific hearing the Bass so clear.

Like Hank Jones, Tommy Flanagan has that superb elegant style and soft touch. A real pleasure for the ears, and this theme is great !

I've just heard that the drummer here, Bobby Durham has just died aged 71. A sad loss, a superb drummer.
makes it look so easy
SIMPLY THE BEST.
Smooth, Melodic and Swingin' !
Simply one great Pianist.
The nicest man...and such a melodic player...

Flanagan is one of the greatest!
Now that's trio.... Yeah Bobby!

George Mraz for president!!!
The one person to dislike this took a rain check on music taste.
Brilliant
wow that was incredible,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Heavenly.
"Heavenly" is the word, Digs. Every note is what it has to be. Let's not forget Bobby Durham, who played with the Duke.
