Damn I remember freshman year, I used to blast this entire album on a daily basis through out school and walking home. I couldn't get enough of this, especially this song. I don't listen to Born of Osiris anymore, but this song still remains my favorite. This brings back so many memories, so many pothead and spiritual awakening memories.. lol
man when this shit dropped it changed everything. i’ll never forget being stuck home during hurricane sandy playing bo zombies moon map and jamming this on repeat. the good ol days.
Best BOO lineup so far. Not saying Jason made the band what it was in any way, of course. As long as Lee and Cameron are in this band, they'll still be Born Of Osiris. This is just them at their peak, really hope they stick to this direction.
I am BLOWN AWAY at the amount of talent/skill/musical fine-tuned badassery that is displayed in this song. Their new album is great IMHO but, I do hope they make another album on this level
I remember taking a bath and cleaning my ears before I put on the best in ear monitors blast it to full volume then play. i miss this version of BOO. I remeber Jason was still with ASP and BOO's songs like abstract art were released and after some time they all got together and made this album. The Discovery one of the best in their platform.
To me, this is their version of prog. That last two minutes of the song are so proggy, i love it. Kinda in Rush/mastodon/dream theater territory. The first minute of brace legs is very mastodonic.
Oh you want to tell me, that you judge an album from one song? Yeah Throw me in the jungle is kinda shitty, but other than that, the album is lit. It's like saying Ride the lightning sucks, because escape was shitty lol.
Couldn't have said it better myself. Chelsea Grin should feel extremely lucky to have Jason in their band. I can't wait to hear more of Jasons influence in their new songs!
Brandon Wilson In my opinion it's overproduced and the songs sound almost the same, with blast beats in the middle. It's not bad, but it could have been better.
The Discovery had a bunch of awesome ideas forged into smoothly flowing songs, with tasteful chord progressions and melodies that kept things interesting when ideas would get old (Recreate and Singularity being prime examples of this). TWDA feels like (to me at least, I think it's dope that you like it :)) a bunch of quick, repetetive ideas thrown together in a big bowl of djent stew. There are awesome, thrilling ideas all throughout the album, but there's just too much of the same thing! Ideas don't flow well from one to the next (The outro to absolution comes out of fucking nowhere. If done much better, that could easily be their best song), and there's way too much mindless 000-0-0-000-00 riffing. Keep on doing you though, man! Like what you like, and don't let other's opinions change what you dig! :)
will sandvold hell ya bro! I just love the outro to absolution. Its actually top 3 best boo outros. Very unique. Name one thing to compare that outro to and you win lol jk
Petrucci surely knows how to ask for a signature guitar. Every damn metal band I saw, surely start somehow with his Musicman signature. Be it BOO or Periphery, or something else band.
I'm down...although he is still on shitty terms with them. BOO blocked Jason on Twitter recently for making a comment about how they still owe him a decade's worth of royalties for The Discovery. So sadly they will never reunite.
Nah, people have always commented on Richardson being difficult to work with, why do you think he's never been able to hold down being in a band and has taken to being a solo artist? I think it's extremely ironic for JR to comment on anything to do with royalties whilst he openly committed plagarism on a song he ADMITTED openly on Twitter that Lee wrote. I just don't think this album was the direction that BOO ultimately wanted to go and that's why they decided to boot him, and I don't think that's a problem at all - it's their band, I don't think they would have any issue writing another album in this vein either. While The Discovery was a great album... I view it less as Born of Osiris, and more as Born of Osiris feat. Jason Richardson. BOO nail the whole cinematic theatre progressive metal shtick like no other band does today. Seriously though, its been 9 years and the whole bring back Richardson thing is kind of getting boring at this point, move on.
Damn I remember tripping to BOO last year, had really intense hallucinations of wizards standing on top of decorated pillars doing a dance of knowledge.
Rarely do you see an album that goes so incredibly well with its cover art. But this... it's just fucking indescribably amazing. The guitar / synth parts in contrast with the low end heavy breakdowns go amazingly well with the whole albums idea of "there are greater beings." I don't know how else to describe it... it's just like... wow.
+Trashman Scooter I mean there are a lot of different sweep-oriented riffs on this album that vary. To name a couple, Follow the Signs solo and XIV/Behold solo.
He can't do it live for shit though. And +Riley Tucker, those are Jason Richardson's guitar parts, the other guitarist in the band at the time that isn't playing lead on this song.
Dude I just saw Osiris live on the 3rd and Lee killed every solo perfectly even the follow the signs one which is probably their worst solo ever. He also killed bow down abstract art open arms exhilarate machine divergency and illusionist. So go see them live now and faith in him will truly be restored. FYI he wrote recreate
Александър Коларов yeah but Jason had no right to throw them under a bus. I’m not saying that what they partook in was ok, but that was part of their private life and Jason brought it out into the public.
JacksonKdrums Repetitive? Are you kidding haha, the new album is boring as fuck, but this album is seriously one of the best releases in the last 5 years for this genre anyway
I don't understand why people say Deathcore isn't metal. It's a combination of Hardcore (which is already a combo of punk and metal) and then death metal thrown in. It's almost like Thrash, which is punk and metal, and a lot of people consider it to be one of metals purest forms.
Here in Greece we don't have many people listen to this kind of metal but at least some of them that they also listen to core ,they are making a very good progress on undergound progresive metal ,metlacore, post hardocore and deathcore/metal music ;)
11 years old and still sounds incredible - probably the last album I truly enjoyed by them
Angel or Alien was great
Same dude
This album will forever be in my top 3.
what are the other 2
i hope ASP - Price of existence is there
Top 10 metal album of all time. Idc what anyone says. This was a master piece from top to bottom.

Michaelthe Cuntcrusher fucking same shit.
How do you not listen to BOO anymore?
That riff at 1:10 is what made me fall in love with this band
This version of BOO will forever remain my favorite. They along with Jason were at their all time freaking best of period.
❤️
These guys make headbanging look like an act of worship.
Those high guitar notes with the effects are sick.

Yes
How can one not love the lead guitar (solo?) going into the outro/breakdown? Easily one of my favorite parts in any song I've heard.

No desire to see them since Jason is not in the band. Unfortunately he is in Chelsea Grin now and they just suck all together.
INTRO GETS ME SO HYPEEE

oh what a beautiful time sumerian, back in the day when jason still got his long hair

It's called deathcore (death metal + hardcore/metalcore), but it is good.
They're also progressive metal.

boo sacked Jason because he didn't do drugs with them basically is my view of it. check out their cribs video. it's practically video evidence
This is cool. Its strange most bands like this never use solo's but this band cant get enough of them!
Jason was the best thing that happened to this band :(
completely agree. he elevated them to another level.
Totally Jason was sooooooo the only thing behind this. But if you watch the video or any live videos lee is the one playing something other than the 0

No but really, part of what makes bands like BOO great is that they defy conventional genres.
They should have just retired after this album.
Aaron Barrett nah, they're great still.
There are so many beautiful guitar parts in this song!:)
I honestly like this band mainly for the guitars and keyboards.
