My name is Bre. I took two years of small engine repair at the local college. When I left school, I fell into a wonderful job at a local small engine shop where I worked the counter for a couple years. In 2010 my husband and I opened up our own small engine shop in central Arkansas where I am able to work alongside my family and best friends. We saw over 2,000 pieces of small engine equipment every year, and answer 1,000's of small engine questions. 😊Got one. Needed carb kit. Got the carb kit and aftermarket carb. Aftermarket works fine after adjustment. Airfilter setup of the mantis is crappy(way too small)

That’s why I don’t lend my stuff out. I’ll give it away if I don’t want it anymore but I don’t lend out my equipment or tools because most don’t take care of them the way I do.
Your chicks are adorable! We finally got four girls after talking about it for years. Ours are a little over a year old and they look for us to come play with them every day. If you socialize with them, they will come running when they see you, especially if you bring them goodies everyday. Ours love Cheerios and crushed corn chips! You will love them! Not sure how you're going to keep them, but they do need a lot of room. Those coops they sell ain't gonna cut it. I hope you'll keep us posted on them.
Here's a trick I use when replacing the primer bulb. Mash the bulb in and ease up. Most of the time this will get the gas to start flowing into the primer bulb. If you push down on the bulb too fast or you keep pumping it, all you're doing is pushing the gas back into the tank. Pushing down and then slowly raising the bulb while your thumb is still on it will allow the line to fill with gas.

The eggs you get from your own chickens will be higher in vitamins than store bought and will stay fresher longer if you dont wash them they have a coating on the outside that helps keep them fresh you can smash up the shells and feed them back to the chickens let them run free and your yard will be bug free in no time good luck

Thanks for reminding me to pull my Mantis out and see if it still fires. Been in my shed for.. five years? Got it for free ten years ago and then started doing no-till gardening so it's just been sitting. Did five-year ago me store it properly the way Bre shows? Probably not, five-year ago me was pretty stupid and wasn't watching this wonderful, informative channel.

My Poulan has worked very well for me. Used it just a couple of days ago after it had been sitting all winter. Yes, I *DID* fill the tank and carb with Mystery Oil! Started right up after I changed it out for good gas. I learned THAT little trick from YOU, Bre! Thanks!! ❤
The Mantis tiller reminds me of the old Lawn Boy mowers. Three things that would kill them? Straight gasoline fuel. dirt in the reed valves and worn crankcase seals. Definitely outlasted Briggs and Stratton engines.

Remember chickens HAVE to have a bit of sand around so that it can be used in the chick's gizzard to digest their food. It's a love hat3 relationship they are ,enjoy them and it's good to have them around. And yes feeding them back the calcium from eggshells is very good for them too.

My favorite parts of this vid are when Bre gets excited when the Poulan & Mantis pop off and start running. I do the SAME thing when I get a friends' small engine running. Feels good!

My father worked on small engine repair the last 40 years of his life. He repaired a Mantis Tiller and gave it to my brother. One tank full of paint thinner and it was done. I grew up in Grove, Ok and now live in Tulsa. We raised 5 buildings of chickens at a time. There was 8,000 in each building. From new chicks to laying eggs and off to laying houses. As a teenager I worked all over NE Oklahoma and Arkansas on chicken catching crews. Good luck with the Chicks, since you are the Chickanic you should do good. At that size they will eat 24/7 and grow fast. Believe it or not back in the early 70's we would open the ends of the building and let the chickens out. Main predators during day was crows. At night they all went back in building, so we closed doors.

Use tread lift feeders for your chickens when they are close to being full grown, zero waste. GRANDPA FEEDERES is the best brand.
Have a door/gate that keeps predators (opossums, racoons, foxes) out of the coop where they roost.

Had several Poulans over the years and cut many trees. If it is what your budget can afford they get the job done. Finally was able to get a Husqvarna but the Poulan brand never let me down

Chicken Suggestion for the chickanic. As the chick's grow, keep raising the feeder and waters to the level of their back. They can still reach up and eat and drink, but it will save lots of wasted feed as well as keep track out of the feeder and waters. That has worked for 80 years.

Where do I begin? I never thought to stretch those fuel lines. I've rebuilt alot of carbs from 2cyle to 4bbl. I always use carb cleaner and compressed air. Your enthusiasm over getting an engine to run is contagious.I can recall not giving up until the engine fired! Having chickens and fresh eggs is very sustainable. Once the chicks mature, feed them anything. Twice a year we had lobster and gave the chickens the shells. The next day the egg yolks were dark orange! In my opinion your videos are so detailed and informative that anyone could watch them and try their hand at repairs. Even those who can't, it's great to see what was done to repair their equipment and that's invaluable. I learned most of what I know from watching and helping Technicians from Auto Mechanics to the Glamour Trades! You may just inspire kids to enter the trades. There's a deficit of Trades persons. Talking up Mfgrs and cautioning consumers against problematic new equipment is extraordinary! I love that they listen to you. Finally we have a voice! Thank you, Bre! Your efforts go far beyond what you may realize!
I remember Coleman lantern fuel having a light blue tint.
I used to work in a service business. When we'd get an item that the customer gave us, not wanting to deal with it, we'd try to keep our joy a little low-key if we did well. We thought if the customer heard about our success, (you're on the internet!), it wouldn't make them feel like such a schmuck.

Congratulations on your great gift of a Mantis and your new flock. Eggs are not cheaper but the quality is so much better and the birds are entertaining and they do a lot for bug control too just keep them out of the garden until your plants are big enough not to be uprooted.
A Mantis tiller and a One legged Mule (aka) row buster is all a man or woman needs for a garden.. my,my the good ole days.

Chickanic for the win!!!!! For the babies, check them for pasty butt ie. dried poop on their vents. If they get it DON'T pick it off, use a wet swab or cotton ball. It doesn't seem to be a problem after they are a week or 2 old. Make sure you have a large enough coop and run area and MAKE SURE it is predator proof. NO chicken wire, cover all openings with half inch hardware cloth poultry/fence stapled down or held down with battens screwed to the framing.
3 weeks ago! They're about the same age as mine! I have a straight run of Whiting True Blues(Blue Egg Layers). I'm definitely going to have more roosters than I need. If you have 16 hens, your flock will support two roosters. If you or your husband ever have business near the DFW metro area, you're welcome to one or two! Besides blue eggs, Whiting True Blues were also bred to have pretty feathers for making fly fishing lures, so they're going to be very pretty besides being able to potentially breed Olive egg-laying hens for you.
Serious offer, I'm probably going to have at least 10 spare roosters that I'm going to have to figure out what to do with them!

You just saved me time, money, and frustration! One of the lines coming out of my string trimmer gas tank was crackes. I just pulled a little out of the tank, cut it off clean, and reconnected it. Started 3rd pull. Woot!

my neighbor gave me his craftman 25 hp ride lawn mower. I put new tires on it took off the mower pressure wash everything, rebuild the carb, adjust the valves, new fuel hose and rubber hose for the fuel pump, new fuel pump, cleaned the 2 magnetos and flywheel magnet, set the air gap on them, new seat. It runs great; use it to tow my garden trailer around or go to the hardware store or grocery store post office in my town of 3000 people .

Bre, another great video. I love how excited you get about reviving these 2 strokes. One correction though....I believe that Mantis no longer gives lifetime warranty on the tines. This changed a couple of years ago.
