It's 2020! I'm still using my i7 920 (never overclocked, stock cooler) with GA-X58A-UD3R (rev. 2.0) motherboard. Used this computer almost daily for 10 years and still runs good, and plenty fast for me. Added a GTX 1050Ti a couple years ago, and a Samsung SSD last year. CPU and motherboard has never given me a problem though idle temps are getting high, probably time to add some fresh thermal paste.
I have a similar setup to you. Are you sure that your GTX isn't being bottlenecked any way. That came out 2016, quite a few years after the motherboard.
@@bitTorrenter The GTX 1050ti might be slightly bottlenecked. Bottleneck calculator says maybe 7% "Graphic card and processor will work great together". @Jayto91 Technically yes, but I wouldn't worry about that much unless your temps are constantly in like the 90's. The shortened life-span is marginal and most likely you will end up buying a new CPU before it actually dies on you from overclocking.
@Jayto91 CPU's have life spans in the decades, overclocking reduces this time by a few years...ask your self this, are you going to be using this CPU in 20 years anyway?

have an alienware aurora r3 2009, motherboard is (Aurora ALX motherboard MS-7591 Ver:1.0) got into some settings where I seen I could only modify my OPI Frequency to either 400GT or 800GT or somthing like that, Memory Ratio was ajustable had a good variety of choice, XMP Support was an available option but only had 2 options, and for some reason in the menu it wouldn't let me modify the "CPU Core (non-Turbo) ratio, would only stay at 20, I have also looked about for vids of Bios menu that looks like mine but can't find any
@snedie69er nope, ur right,usually i upgrade to a new one in 5-6 years ;)
be careful , it can be tempting to go higher than you should and burn your cpu but the new ones tend to be safer and auto shut off

lol I finished building my pc and am watching in 2018 like.
what settings would you recommend for a 3.2GHZ overclock?
i7-920 (stock cooler)
EX58-UD3R
Corsair 3GB 1333mhz ram
I only recently overclocked my setup and it was similar to yours except I had a Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R mobo. I bought 12GB of Corsair Dominator GT DDR3 2000Mhz. I increased the BCLK frequency from 133MHz to 160MHz, kept the Clock Ratio at 20x and increased the memory multiplier from 8 to 12. I also just installed a Corsair H60 and it made quite a difference in the temps.
really nice dude :D
my bios is way different then yours, it doesnt have all the features you have
same with me on my motherboard its pheonex is yours
@imRoLxXHD Thanks!
